What is the most unedited publication (not one of the original prints, I'm a poor fag) of The River War that I can buy
I'm looking to get what Churchill actually wrote, not some leftist's editing of the book to make it say what they want it to.
If you want your literary career to succeed, why the fuck haven't you read this book?
Hi /lit/
I really want to be a writer but I don't seem to find many things that "move" me that much when reading. I enjoyed We Need To Talk About Kevin, Stoner, Siddhartha, The Exorcist, Lolita, most Harlan Ellison stories, and Darkness at Noon.
In other words, I'm an entry level pleb who doesn't have the reading comprehension to understand anything beyond that level. What else do you guys think would "move" me, or that I'd enjoy?
General plebs thread I guess.
Hey /lit/!
A really quick (and mildly urgent) question since it's one of the first times I'm ordering a book like this. Recently I've been doing research on the Dhammapada and have been looking to pick up a copy of the book, however I'm not sure which version to pick as there's a myriad of them. I've had my eyes on the (affordable) Oxford World's Classics edition for a while now, because it seems to be a reliable and complete translation.
Is it safe for ordering, or is there a better version out there that you know of?
Thanks in advance!

Does anybody work on multiple projects at once? Do you find that one thing influences your other works at all?
Besides Nietzsche, what are some books addressing resentment?
What are some good online publications/magazines/newspapers?

I've been enjoying Quillette recently
Changing the choice of words in new editions, yea or nay?
Having finished it I want to hear that weird old freak Gass in his own voice
Post an excerpt from a novel that evokes a lot of emotion for you.
There's a new translation of The Book of Disquiet coming from New Directions next month. The cover is grotesque to say the least...
Anyway, here's a fairly interesting interview with the translator: http://conversationalreading.com/ten-questions-for-margaret-jull-costa-on-fernando-pessoas-the-book-of-disquiet/
what's the best translation of the gambler? feel like some comfy reading and don't know which one to pick
>My goodness, though. The book – which is only about 9 hours on the iPod – takes about 36 minutes to get to Chapter One. First there is a long, rambling – but really very enjoyable – preface by Mr. Foote about how the book (Mr. Foote's first) was written, how it was received, and how it was revived and revised, how people thought it was about his grandfather (it's not, mostly). Then there was a prologue which I admit left me completely baffled (but which makes good sense now that I've finished, and will be enhanced by a reread)
Is neo ultraconspirisism the future.and before you go insane it is /lit/ he's written Icelandic books.and no the title is not the content
