Who else here remembers /thatguy/ who made a bunch of sockpuppet posts on /pol/ about 'hegelian dialectics' and then paraded it around on here as an example of /pol/ being retarded?

That (((redpiller))) is shitting up this board more than anyone else because he believes his single handed attempt at 'meme warfare' will change anyones mind (whereas in reality it's just obnoxious).

Anyways to keep it /lit/-related let's talk about his #Alt-Woke manifesto and the implications of Xenofeminism on this board and beyond! What implications might it have for his home country of reddit if it caught on?

>A German is almost incapacitated for presto in his language; consequently also, as may be reasonably inferred, for many of the most delightful and daring nuances of free, free-spirited thought. And just as the buffoon and satyr are foreign to him in body and conscience, so Aristophanes and Petronius are untranslatable for him. Everything ponderous, viscous, and pompously clumsy, all long-winded and wearying species of style, are developed in profuse variety among Germans--pardon me for stating the fact that even Goethe's prose, in its mixture of stiffness and elegance, is no exception, as a reflection of the "good old time" to which it belongs, and as an expression of German taste at a time when there was still a "German taste," which was a rococo-taste in moribus et artibus. Lessing is an exception, owing to his histrionic nature, which understood much, and was versed in many things; he who was not the translator of Bayle to no purpose, who took refuge willingly in the shadow of Diderot and Voltaire, and still more willingly among the Roman comedy-writers--Lessing loved also free-spiritism in the tempo, and flight out of Germany.

I seriously hope none of you guys bother with the german """"""language""""""

I think Nietzsche got really intoxicated with doing away with morality and being super iconoclastic and chauvinistic and thinking (knowing?) he'd offended and terrified most of the philosophical/literary/religious world with his works, so this also gave him the confidence to write hilariously meaningless and histrionic stuff like this

What do you mean "relate to?" It makes you think "oh boy that's like me." How retarded and self-centered are you? Do you not appreciate the beauty of the forest and natural rock formations because it's not "relatable?" Fuck off grandma

I just love confirmation bias. Some people seem to think that such a bias is something to overcome, I disagree: it is wonderful. There is nothing more satisfying in getting a dopamine rush when your ideas and worldview get verified. And you know what? Just because I am reading books in order to get my views affirmed doesn’t mean that they aren’t being developed. Once in a while, yes, I or really my brain makes some little changes and fixes there, and there, so my worldview is better supported.

That is the thing, why would I fight against human nature, instead of empracing it? If I would actually read more opposing views, I’m either looking for errors in such reasoning so that my view remains strong, or I suffer from cognitive dissonance – which surely couldn’t be the point of reading?

There is nothing wrong with mental circle jerking. There is no shame in a personal echo chamber. In fact it is what everyone does. So what bothers me is when the social dynamics change, a schism happens, and I have to put effort into justifying my views. It is repulsive when you have to reconsider your viewpoints because some of the ideas you held are now associated with another group: the outgroup.

So /lit/, don’t pretend like the choices you make in what to read or not, don’t involve confirmation bias and tribalism. It is pretentious and obnoxious to claim so, we are naturally wired to seek out information, ideas and so on and so on, to support our predisposed position. I will not consider the ideas of some long dead philosopher who opposes my thought: it goes against human nature. At best, as I said, it will simply reconstruct my already held views, or even make these views stronger.

You sound like you're almost constructing a system of logic. I don't know if you've ever studied logic formally, but all such systems end up contradicting themselves. It's no foundation for a philosophy.

Everybody's got a worldview, there's no avoiding that. But a rigid one isn't healthy. It can leave you open to some nasty shocks and a good deal of anxiety. The more you commit to it, the greater the danger becomes.

You need to start allowing for the possibility you might be wrong. Because people who don't tend to be the world's biggest arseholes. I mean, listen to this prick: >>9141170

Does your country have a bureau of labor that looks at growth fields?

If I was going to college right now, I would major in a Growth Field (Elder Care Management, Alternate Energy, Health Care management, appropriate STEM) and Minor in literature which will help with GPA if you want to apply for a masters.

A lot of people say go to college purely for your mind, and if you are rich thats fine, but most of us have to be SOMEWHAT practical with our future.

You should seriously consider quitting life if you're not an autodidact desu.

Those who can't write, teach.

Those who can't teach themselves, go to college.
