Hey /lit/,
My university is running a poetry competition and I decided to enter a very heartfelt poem about a lonely nerd:
http://science-poetry.com/poem.php?pid=816
It's the only poem I've ever written and I kind of enjoyed writing it. If anyone wants to roast me I'd be interested in hearing some criticism.
Also, having more views will get me shortlisted and closer to the prize money, so any visits help. If I win I promise to buy everyone a drink.

>it's a 'lonely white male' poem
radical
>>9143074
Thanks for your comment.
Oh how I lament
your negative review
of my poem-oo
>>9143053
It's ok. Kinda hard to take seriously since the premise is basically
>I'm cool in the computer world
which is something that many 12-year-olds have also said. Try to be more insightful, and you might make some legitimately good stuff.
As a general rule, writing about yourself (unless you've had some incredibly unique experience) is setting your writing up for failure.
How much is this prize money?
good morning evening afternoon /lit/
I love beer so fucking much, beer is the best thing. I got drunk on champagne all night but damn beer is just the really best
really best
beer is best
anyway so
i've been reading some Knunt Hamsun recently, and some Judy Blume
and so
Judy Blume is like a young adult book writer, specifically for teenage girls
any writers similar to this?
I figured reading this kinda stuff really relaxes me and keeps me from drinking
SO
ANY WRITERS SIMILAR TO JUDY BLUME?
ALSO
HEY
lets talk about ann beathy
or what is her name
ann beathie.
that woman. she is the inspiration of Tao Lin
the woman who wrote Chilly Scenes of Winter

>>9143043
My parents don't know, they live elsewhere
can you recommend me books or do you have to be fucking IRONIC ALL THE TIME
>>9143051
I don't read women (I have taken the redpill)
It was boring and I couldn't grasp the language. Is it because I am too stupid, or have I not read enough books. I have perhaps read only five adult novels in my life. I am not much of a reader.
>>9142988
>le different styles book
It's shit, don't bother with it. Masturbatory dross
>>9142988
Ulysses is very difficult, don't worry about it.
If you want to get into literature, I'd recommend you read Steinbeck. He's great for starters.
>>9143000
Thanks. I read Catcher In the Rye and The Stranger and enjoyed them both. The plain language appeals to me. Nice trips, also.
Is Secular Humanism worth reading into or is it just a meme?
>>9142902
No, to get big boy points on 4chan you need to be either a redpiller or a Catholic (on /lit/ at least).
We are too consumed with hatred and bitterness to buy the humanism meme
It's pretty much a meme
Post the opening line of your masterpiece. Don't be harsh.
I'll start:
"I've never cared much for other people, and I'm pretty sure that they don't think I'm anything special either. Which of these feelings came first: I wouldn't tell you if I knew."
>>9142664
>"Lavender. So that's what the redpill tastes like," he muttered to himself as the pill started doing it'w work.
Also OP, yours is embarrassing.
"I am skeptical towards meta-narratives." said John Everyman
Only one dog remained; Two, if you counted my dog.
>American "author"
Yeah, they should all be called memers
>>9142516
I know that feel, bro
>'this semester we'll be studying Moby Dick, by famed American author Melville'
stupid frogposter
Is there any practical use to literature?
How is knowledge of stories and poems applicable in every day life?
It seems to me the only practicality of this knowledge is for writers and professors
>>9142504
I get laid a lot from pretending to be deep and well-read.
>It seems to me the only practicality of this knowledge is for writers and professors
Even supposing this were true, what of it?
Is there any use to looking at a beautiful painting?
No. It is merely contemplation of beauty.
Art for art's sake
What has been the most life changing book you've read?
>>9142453
Unironically IJ. Not because of the message of the book though, but because of the path I've taken since reading it.
>>9142453
I love knee chi!
>>9142453
Schopenhauer's 'On Women'
The Bell Curve
Holy shit this book is a pain in the ass to read.
Anyone else feel this way too?
>>9142440
I've only read PC, AP, ST, and TH, and they were not a pain in the ass at all.
>>9142445
ye, Portnoy's Complaint and American Pastoral are much better
>>9143084
*unbumps*
Too real
kill yourself
idgi
>>9142395
Thanks for shitting up the board
I want to fuck Molly's ass (and then her mouth) so badly
Does anybody else know this feel?
>>9142299
>he doesn't know that girl assholes are stinky and from where shit is passed through on the way to the toilet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRkP-rplNjs
>tfw imma put cocaine in yo ass
>>9142318
I want her to close her butthole as tight as she can while my eyaculator is going in and out it.
what is the best software for writing professional manuscripts?
i wanna write a best selling novel
Microsoft Word.
>>9142258
GNU Emacs.
you know "manuscripts" means handwritten right? "manu" literally means hand.
being an autodidact sure is expensive.
ever heard of libraries, the Internet?
>>9142127
stop fucking posting already, you waste of oxygen, nobody finds your see-through "trolling" funny
>not pirating
Was he wrong about the will?
>>9141963
You mean free will? I don't think so.
he wasn;t wrong about women that's for sure
He might be the most red pilled philosopher to ever live.
Daily reminder: 75 years ago, 22th of February 1942 the world lost one of the greatest writers ever. He 404'd by hanging himself.
>>9141758
I don't think he was amazing but he was alright and could've been great. I read The Chess Story. It was alright but I think there's a reason he's not very widely remembered and admired. Apparently The Chess Story is more popularly called "The Royal Game" in English translation.
Honestly, based on that book alone, I'm not too keen on deliberately going out and reading more by him.
Could you explain why you think this obscure and middling Austrian writer was one of the best writers of all time?
>>9141861
(((Stefan Zweig)))
>>9141861
He's not obscure. He's very well respected. It's fine you don't like him. No, I'm not saying these are reasons he is one of the greatest writers.
