Was the AR style charging handle a good design? Would it have been better if it used a more standard style charging handle like most other rifles?

What are some basic skill sets that are necessary for survivalist situations, like natural disasters, as well as SHTF-type scenarios like societal collapse, civil war, etc?

Specifically, what skills would be useful to both you as an individual and to those around you, possibly as a member of a larger group? Skills like being able to set up communication systems, basic engineering and construction skills, electrical engineering, metallurgy and machinist skills, explosive handling, hunting, bushcraft, etc?

As much as I would like to save my own ass in an emergency, I feel like I would have a moral obligation to help others and contribute positively. I really don't feel like I have a hell of a lot of experience to offer at the moment though.

How would you go about training a hippo for home defense? They are strong, aggressive, and deadly.

How do we weaponize the hippo? I need one to protect my home.

They seem VERY similar.
I want a cheap shtf battle rifle so ill feel better while i save up and buy something better.

What do yall think? I love thr sks, but i dont wana pay $350 for a $200 rifle. I see the simplicity of the vz2008 and it reminds me of the sks, but with a threaded barrel. Its also a newer rifle, so i wont be getting some beat all to hell relic.

But sks kicks so much ass. I think that whole slam fire issue is a plus, in heavy combat the pin gets stuck and voila, full auto.

Sup /k/, recently got an old milsurp rifle. It's got the standard array of bumps and bruises, but this dent is rather annoying. It's right where I hold the stock and the texture is unpleasant.

Is there any way to fix a dent like this?

I'll start with my one and only that happened 2 months ago

>just MP, 11B and me cuz sapper went home with 9/10 qt3.14
>in terms of intoxication MP is pretty buzzed but can keep his shit together
>11B on the other hand had 3 bear fights at the first bar so you can guess where hes at now, none the less he is working on his own
>group of 5 dindus approaching from opposite direction from approximately 50 yards away
>mildly chimping out
>notice them making eyes at us
>rest of the 50 yards is a little tense
>one of the dindus does one of those high school hallway shoulder bumps to 11B
>now 11Bro is /fit/ as hell and a cocky bastard
>11B turns around and yells "oh cmon thats all youre gonna do"
>WORLDSTAR.mov
>3 of the dindu conglomerate jump him right away
>MP and I were just continuing on so we didnt realize and were behind on the situation by a few seconds
>2/3 get him on the ground almost immediately (keep in mind he is fucked up)
>remaining 2 are moving in to try to keep me and MP at bay
>this all happens within seconds
>just after me and MP give each other the look like "ok fuck here we go" and get ready to move in we see the 3rd dindu in the jumping trio pull a knife looking like hes trying to find a time to strike 11B
