Hey, /k/. Got a problem.
I told you all I was buying AR kits to build with my dad and brother for christmas...give us a break from assembling kids toys and build grown up ones instead.
Well, my brother's wife 86'd the idea. His gun safe is full and there's no room for an ar15. So I built his and kept it. Built one with my father for him. Just generic carbines, nothing special. Anderson lowers, PSA melonite builds.
So, my problem is, I have a leftover AR15 lower. Its crying to me in the closet. What do I build with it? Flat top 20"? 300 blackout? Help me out...
tl/dr have a 16" ar15 carbine and a lower, trying to figure out what to do with the lower.

Do what I'm doing op. I've got a spare lower I'm going to use for a pdw build. I'm going to run the Troy M7A1 pdw stock kit with a ten inch barrel.
>>28327227
build a mock M4
>>28327227
20" government profile. ooh baby.
Do some guys actually do this? Why mount a optic on a removable carry handle?
>>28327150
Because you can still use the irons maybe
Slavshit did it best.
>>28327150
Unobstructed sight picture?
>>28327150
more natural eye position. probably magnified, and they usually have a peep sight so you can still use the irons for CQB.
I own a business which purchases gold and diamonds and recently have been purchasing from a retired marine. This gentleman did 12 years in the corp, and asked if I was interested in buying some firearms. I explained I cannot buy them with or at the business but may be interested in the personally. Anyway, long story short he's got a Dragunov, and a Singer 1911. I don't yet know for sure is it is a Chinese made Dragunov or Russian, but it is a Dragunov as he showed me a picture of it and it definitely has the 1 piece for grip (not psl). How much does a Russian Dragunov go for in the U.S.? I've seen the Chinese variant for sale for around 5k but can't find a Russian anywhere and have to come up with an offer above 350. Any advice /k?
>>28327093
Russian-made commonly go for $10,000 and if I were selling one, I wouldn't sell it for any lower.
i dont want to be a dickhead/faggot/insult anyones intellagence but make sure its legit and not a psl
Only ndm86 ive seen went for 6500
I'm going with Hitler invading Russia.
Germany was doing pretty well against the Allied powers up till they had to divert troops and materials to fight on the Eastern Front.
It's likely they would have been able to hold on to Europe even in the face of the Allied Invasions.
I think that did more to hasten the end of WW2 than anything else.
Italy failed to invade Greece, which required German intervention. This delayed Barbarosa several months, and meant winter set in before campaign goals were completed.
Let's reiterate the fuckup here.
Italy, failed to invade fucking Greece.
>>28326873
I read a story about how Rommel tried to lead only Italian troops in a battle in North Africa since his German troops failed, thinking the Italians would fare better under direct German command.
They lost. Apparently the Italians just suck at fighting overall.
I just can't remember the name of the battle. It was before Tobruk, IIRC.
Russians.
Does /k/ have any love for single shot fudd guns?
No, M*rlin or W*nchester have no place in the modern firearms world.
>>28326706
But this one is made by new England firearms
The Ruger #1 can handle insanely hot 45-70 loads. Power levels you'd feel comfortable using to hunt dinosaurs.
Sup /k/, merry christmas.
Would it be possible to modify a revolver in a way that would allow it to shoot backwards (towards the shooter) just by twisting a small lever?
I'm reading a book and some dude made some other dude kill himself by handing him a 'special' revolver that was modified to do just that... so basically the dude tried to shoot someone but shot himself instead because the revolver was switched to 'backwards fire'.
Would that be possible at all, without a fuck huge obviously out of place contraption?
I'm guessing the author is full of shit and it's a really shitty cop out / plot twist in an otherwise great book, but I thought I'd ask you first.
Cheers
I'm thinking about it and maybe you could make it so a round is loaded backwards and the lever would maybe cock a hidden hammer that would go into the barrel and connect the trigger to that... the part where the actual hammer etc is would also have to be like a barrel, and the whole mechanism would have to move out the way when the trigger is pulled, so the bullet won't be obstructed.
But I'm not sure if that's possible. Maybe with Kraut space magic but even then it would have to be a gun specially designed to do that, and why would you use a revolver for that...
Idk the book was great so far but now I feel like what the fuck am I reading
>>28326251
you could probably rig something that would cause an obstruction between the bullet and the barrel, something like a pin inside the cylinder gap.
it wouldn't fire backwards but probably fuck up the guys hand, maybe cook off the other rounds in the cylinder.
>>28326331
Well in the book there is a clean entry wound caused by a bullet in the guys head, so it can't be that. So there would have to be a way to have a barrel at the back of the gun...
Or maybe you could build the revolver so that it would basically have a small barrel at the back that was hidden, that you could load with 1 shot. And the lever would somehow disconnect the trigger from the normal firing mechanism and connect it to the hidden one, basically like a select fire switch....
I guess it could be possible with a really elaborate design made from scratch, but it would be very hard to conceal such a device in a normal looking revolver and it would be obvious what happened to anyone who found the body and gun.
Really fucking far fetched desu senpai
O/k/, guys. this is the 'what to buy' thread to end all 'what to buy' threads.
Lettuce debate and derive the best options for new and current gun owners under the following categories of weaponry.
>Target/range
>Hunting/game
>'Operator/Luk @ my 1337 setup'
>Classic/antique
>Handfuns: CCW/Open Carry
Also I have this year's 'Shooter's Bible' for reference, can post pictures of requested firearms with specifications and presumed MSRP.
This could be fun, so let's be constructive and learn eachother some good stuff!
I'll start with my opinion on the Classic/Antique category. I believe that with regard to quality of manufacture, reliability, and overall firepower, a really strong contender is the M1 Garand. Not as a meme, but as a serious rifle. .30-06 is a really powerful caliber, ammo is relatively affordable for plinking at the range occasionally, and it can be modified for hunting use if need be.
Pricing can be between $400 and $2000 depending on age/quality/design.
Thoughts?
For CCW, I'd venture the Ruger LCP is a strong contender. Very discrete, low capacity, but firing .380 hollowpoints this thing can really pack some punch. Pic related, IV8888's flesh test of the .380 hollow point

Which Beretta 9mm should I get /k/? I like the classic 92fs but having a rail might be handy, I don't like the look however. Also not a big fan of the desert tan color of the M9A3.
>>28325529
buy m9a3 and spraypaint it
>>28325535
I don't like painting anything, flakes off and leaves sticky mess after a while.
>>28325529
You could get a px4.
They were also gonna release a Beretta-brand glock but it didn't happen.
So what does /k/ think of the Irish military? Are they any good (do they even do anything)? And how good are their guns, planes, and tanks?
>>28323419
Fuck off namefag
>>28323419
more of a defense force and they lack any kind of fighting aircraft.
need some of that Paddy Pat tho
>>28323419
They're good enough at killing kid, senior citizens and planting car bombs
Literally a papist version of ISIS
what's your poorfag excuse for not owning one of the coolest toys that you can use with your guns?
Seruously night vision is fun as fuck why aren't you on board yet?

I'm putting away some cash for a few months and waiting for a good deal to pop up.
Ain't got no monies holmes
Used to, but I used it to buy a car
I really should get a damned job already
It happens.
China has taxi-trialed its first serial production J-20 today. Maiden flight soon.
No prototypes anymore. Yellow primer and serial number "2101", indicating that it is the 1st of the "100" lot of LRIP planes.
>"By the time China introduces the J-20 into service, the US will already have 6th Gen en masse"
Hopefully, those fags will eat their words, as promised.
Also, looks like China will get their 5th gen slightly sooner than Russia. Impressive, considering that they began a year later than them.
Yellow J-20 with freshly produced serial J-10Bs

More.
Engines look to be the same as the previous prototypes, ie. uprated WS-10 with silver IR-suppressant coating.

>dat smog

>Silencers might be de-regulated
>Automatics might be de-regulated
>Obongo is on his way out
Feels good
If automatics were just as easy to buy as Semi autos are, what would you buy first?
>>28322136
>>Silencers might be de-regulated
>>Automatics might be de-regulated
lol no
Conversions first up. Beyond that, anything I'd buy normally, except automatic.
I'd like a micro uzi.
>>28322139
Not particuarly hopeful on the Hollis v. Holder but the Hearing Protection Act actually has a decent chance of passing becasue it actually makes sense in regards to shooter saftey.
They're so evenly matched that it comes down to who sees the other first.

An original Abrams from 80's versus the newest British tank? Honestly? A draw. British armor is much better but their APSDS rounds are shit
Don't reply without a sage
/tv/ is claiming that an unloaded gun held by the barrel can still cause one's hands to be burned.
Let's all laugh at their stupidity.

If the barrel is hot it can.
>>28317027
>>thinking just because you have no bullets doesnt mean you can seriously injure someone with muzzle flash from the gas tube
What the fuck am I reading?
>>28317040
In the movie, it's made quite clear that they haven't had bullets loaded up in any of the guns seen by the characters for 4 years.
Why aren't ship's cats and sea dogs still a thing?
We raided an African fishing vessel last year. They had dogs on board... for different reasons
>>28315023
They were taking them to a new home, right?!
>>28315012
a marine might throw them off the deck
