Do you guys like AR15s?

You did a slightly better job than most anons at making the thread. Congrats

Same here. I worry about OP in home defense.
Reformed liberal here, looking to make my first gun purchase in WA state. I also plan to apply for my CCW permit, but between having to take a day off work and waiting for it to process, it'll obviously be a while before I have it.
So, simple question--what's really the risk of concealed carry without a license? A cop can't just stop you on the street and search you without probable cause. Sure, if I ever have to use it, I'll have some 'splaining to do, but better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, right?
>>30518637
Play it safe and just wait for your CC license like a good boy.
>>30518637
>better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, right?
depending on your state, you might not ever be able to touch a gun again, but you know what, you sound like you have it all figured out already. do what your heart tells you.
>>30518637
Open carry is legal without a permit here. Just OC for a couple weeks, they're required to issue your permit within 30 days of applying.
I'm going elk hunting for the first time in Colorado and I'm in need a of a new hunting rifle. I've hunter white tail deer with .308 before, and really enjoyed it, but people tell me it's not powerful enough for elk. I've been told 30-.06 is good but that round appears to have roughly the same ballistics as .308. I've heard good things about the 7mm Rem Mag and 300 winchester magnum.
What caliber does /k/ recommend for hunting elk in the rocky mountains of Colorado?
>>30518545
.308 should be just fine, assuming you use expanding ammo and a decent powder load, and most importantly, can actually hit.
use a big game round.
.308 win is cutting it a little too close, for a humane take down.
you'll never feel worse, than after you only mortally wounded an animal. having to watch it running away while struggling with slow death. then you catch up to it just in time to see it struggle those last few breaths and heat beats.
>>30518545
All the calibers you mentioned will get it done. The key is being super familiar with your rifle and its dopes at various ranges. A .308 you have been shooting for years is better than some super magnum that you just bought.
Placing a shot in the vitals with a slightly less powerful caliber is better than missing and gut shooting some poor animal.
No offense, but you sound like you need more time at the range, shooting at say 200-500 yards.
There are too many people who are like "Hey guise, I am going on a big hunt next week. What rifle should I buy?"
How would police neutralize an armed man wearing baby-armor without harming the babies?
>>30518462
Just do what all American cops do. Mag dump and claim officer safety. Collateral damage be damned.
>>30518462
How'd it end in the comic?
Also, negotiate?
Walk up to him, put a noose around his neck, throw the other end over a support beam, start pulling.
Do you guys ever feel kinda sad for Chad when Eric talks over him in the vids?

>he shows me a used Luger .22 Mark III for $700
Huh? Ruger mkiii? 22 Luger?
>>30518164
.22 is best for home defense, because the bullet just bounces around inside the intruders skull.
>>30518294
ruger, typo
Something like this is at my local walmart for $99. What should I do with it?
shove it up your ass
>>30518092
Make it into an ultralight backpack gun of course. Cut down the barrel for weight, but not to compromise accuracy, drill out the stock to reduce weight, find way to store it in bag. Is good use for shit.
Fold it and stash it somewhere where you can reach it, and use it to kill snakes and shit.
Is this gun worth getting?
Thoughts on the Ruger brand, etc.
>>30518036
It is a nice pistol. downside is the asinine take down and reassembly.
>>30518144
Agree, though you hardly will ever need to detail strip it. I use a bore snek maybe every 300 rounds? The bolt comes back far enough that you can clean and lube it. I like my 22/45; can't quite hit the gong at 100yds, but that's more of a 22lr - 4in barrel issue.
Ruger MK and Browning Buckmark series are the standard against which all other self loading .22LR pistols are judged.
Could I just duct tape a normal hand grenade to a plank of wood and use it as a modern form of stick grenade? I could throw it farther.
>>30518011
Yeah, I guess? But the trade off is that non-stick grenades fit a lot easier into your gear.
For most militaries (the guys with grenades usually), they have grenade launchers for when they want long distance explody.

On the up side, It also works as a bat.
SOF questions that don't deserve their own thread
I'll start off
1. Where does MARSOC fit into Special Operations Command? It seems like all the niche roles are already filled
2. Where does CIA SOG recruit from?
3. What is the US equivalent to the SAS?
>3. What is the US equivalent to the SAS?
According to Inside Delta Force: The Story of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit by Eric L. Haney, Delta Force was modeled heavily on the SAS during it's creation.
>>30517831
>modeled
You mean improved upon.
>>30517805
>It seems like all the niche roles are already filled
It's not a question of filling niches. It's a question of having enough manpower to carry out more missions.
>Obsolete 4 years before it came out
>Left handed by default
>Gimmicky proprietary caliber
>Bought en-masse then ditched by the military for infinitely more functional top-breaks
>100 years later still one of the most famous guns in history
Is it the original memegun, /k/?
>>30517612
>>Left handed by default
whut?
>>30517612
6 shots, more than enough to kill anything that moves!
>>30517632
>Have gun in right hand
>Flick open gate
>Either have to transfer it to left hand, or reach around awkwardly to insert rounds
Thinking about getting a Slidefire SSAR stock.
Anybody have one? And if so, is it worth the $300?
Spend $300 to increase your ammo consumption and decrease accuracy?
Do it. Just fucking do it.
>>30517551
I myself would personally not buy it. I've fired full auto weapons to the point of being tired of them in the military, so the idea of a full auto weapon doesn't have that forbidden fruit factor for me.
I prefer to maximize my accuracy or use of skills while shooting, rather than burning through ammo for the sake of it.
But you do you.
>>30517635
You're definitely right.
I was a POG medic so I rarely got to shoot anything fun. I suppose that's why FA weapons still have a certain draw for me.
Don't think I'll actually buy one, I was just shitposting and looking for some input. Thanks for the advice, man.
You all like updates?
bout friggin time.....
Hang tight while the video gets put together, Ill add more pics with it too.
