>Homegrown air transport marks ‘crucial step’ in projection of power

>China’s largest ever military aircraft entered service on Wednesday, a hulking transport capable of sending troops and tanks around the world at a moment’s notice.

>The Y-20 Kunpeng, nicknamed “chubby girl”, arrives at a time when Beijing is plotting a new global mission for its 2m-strong People’s Liberation Army, from peacekeeping in Africa to anti-piracy in the Indian Ocean.

>The aircraft, which is equipped with Russian engines, has a cargo capacity of 66 tonnes, making it the world’s largest military transport currently in production.

>The Y-20 “marks a crucial step for the air force improving its strategic power projection capability,” Shen Jinke, PLA Air Force spokesman, told state news agency Xinhua.

>Experts say the Y-20 bears a marked resemblance to the US Boeing C-17 transport, which has not been produced since last year. It can carry a single Type 99 tank, China’s most advanced, which weighs about 50 tonnes, along with troops and other equipment. It has a maximum range of 7,800km partially loaded — roughly the distance between Beijing and Cairo.

>Song Zhongping, a Chinese military expert, said about a dozen of the aircraft would be operating within the next year or two, and eventually 200-300 would be produced. The Y-20 will gradually replace the fleet of Chinese Y-8 and Russian Ilyushin 76 cargo aircraft, the current workhorses of China’s military airlift capacity.

>The Y-20 makes China only the third nation in the world to design and build its own transport aircraft, along with Russia and the US.

>The Russian-Ukrainian Antonov-124 Ruslan is officially the world’s largest transport aircraft, with a payload nearly twice that of the Y-20 but it is out of production and work on upgrading the existing fleet has been frozen since 2014 due to tensions between Moscow and Kiev, according to press reports.

>The rollout of the Y-20 takes place amid a rethink of military strategy by China, which sees itself gradually taking on missions farther from its borders. In November China announced the establishment of its first foreign military base, in Djibouti, as a hub to resupply the more than 2,000 Chinese troops taking part in African peacekeeping operations as well as Chinese anti-piracy patrols in the Indian Ocean.

>A new counter-terrorism law adopted by Beijing this year allows China to station troops abroad for the first time to participate in counter-terrorism operations.

>Last year China’s defence ministry released a white paper on strategy that emphasised the evolution of the country’s security needs away from simple territorial defence towards an offensive capacity overseas.

I am a transwoman living in murica.

I wanted to enlisted when I was 18, but I was a fag and when being a fag was okay I was already popping tranny pills.

Would I be able to enlist or try to become an officer? I got a shitty polysci degree and work at star bucks part time. I love guns and dicks. I figure the army or marines will give me both to fuck around with. I would join the navy or air force but they are way too faggy for me.

I am 25 now so I am a bit on the older side and since I have been on female hormones I think I will need to go by female standards. However I don't have a vagina yet, but I am paying for it out of my own pocket in a year and a half. Would it be cool if I join up? I can handle the banter and shit.

Check the barrel wear, have a few ideas of what you want before you go in, and if you get a revolver check out the timing and cylinder gap.

What do you want to get, OP? My first gun was a Mosin personally.
>>
>>30533859
If the seller is an FFL you will still need to do the whole paperwork BS.

Carry cash. A lot of dealers I know offer cash discounts.

You probably won't find a good deal. Great for handling guns you are interested in, or finding something the local stores don't carry.

Can't tell if joking or not, but my dad used 3 in 1 on all his guns for years. Could never figure out why they jammed so often.

Couple years ago sat him down and we did a deep clean of 3 of them. Then replaced all the 3 in 1 with Hoppes and EWG.

So far their strategies have failed every time we've encountered them in proxy wars.

Beyond that, call me back when they have a force projection plan that doesn't involve shipping containers full of little yellow men.

get ready to spend around 2000 usd just for front back level 4 stand along nij 06 plates. each one goes for around 1100 each after shipping weight is around 5.5 -6.2 lbs each. This is for Highcom securities Guardian 4S16
in medium SAPI. Don't buy ar500 ceramic it's made by the lowest bidder and lead times are 6 months plus due to market hype + panic. Buy quality once. Becuase ceramic tends to have a longer life span if taken care of properly.

Here's a Slovenian firm's take on the BMPT-72, using old/current and upgrading them into something for urban werfers.

How effective are flamethrowers in combat? Short range of about 20~40 metres combined with a risk to the user (people focusing their fire on the guy spraying molten death on their colleagues) makes me doubt their portrayal as unethical and terrifying weapons. Might sound 'video gamey' but I assume these would be legitamite concerns.

They were useful for the reason they were conceived in the first place.

To clear bunkers.
>>
>>30531333
Forgot to put this in, are flamethrowers even used in combat? Or just for burning enemy emplacements, destroying caches, clearing shrubbery, etc.

So I shot a shoulder protector from a IOTV with a .45 and a 7.62x25 mm the 7.62 tore a huge chunk of Kevlar out the exit while the .45 left a clean hole and small amount of Kevlar what caused this? hydrostatic shock? is that a thing in Kevlar? I'm curious as to /k/s thoughts on the results of this (I also recovered the slugs from another shoulder protector that I had up agents a better back stop)
