So apparently this guy was the guy that inspired Schindler's List. In the film he didn't seem all that operator, but holy shit was the real Oskar Schindler (Oskar Dirlewanger) operator as fuck. He lead one of the most feared elite Waffen SS units of the entire war.

>most feared elite Waffen SS unit
>literally bottom of the barrel criminals and murderers who's only accomplishment were war crimes and getting killed in droves by the Soviets.
>>
>>32427532

I just think it's amazing that he doesn't do anything operator in the movie but lead a Waffen SS brigate offscreen.
>>
>>32427545
>>32427510

he wasn't "operator", in fact his unit had an hilariously poor combat record and performance.

nobody seemed to mind because Dirlewangers' unit was full of people the Nazis themselves wanted to get killed.

nothing but despicable, disposable, literal cannon fooder.

When a weapon is nearly as long as you are tall, is it actually realistic for you to use it?

Or should this Afghan look into getting an M4 instead?

That's one reason we switched to m4's with collapsible stocks. Women can't control a full size m16 with a fixed stock.

I remember seeing one in Iraq with it slung on her back, literally 1 inch from dragging on the ground.

Why hasn't Europe produced a 5th gen fighter? It has produced the Typhoon, Rafale and that Swedish one whatever but nothing to compete with the US, Chinese and Russian designs. Why not? Other countries are working on indigenous 5th gen - Japan, India, even fucking Turkey for God's sake.

Is it just a question of thinking "if we get into a serious war then the US will be on our side so why bother?"

Because the US already convinced most of the European countries to buy F-35 jets.
>>
Because "stealth" is a meme which will be exposed in the next major war. It's not worth designing your aircraft around it.
>>
>>32426230
Yeah but Japan, India, Turkey are building their own, why not Europe? UK and France have extensive aerospace industries. Politics I suppose.

/k/ is it illegal to store a muzzleloader in a car in california? i'm asking out of curiosity also black powder general

>>
>>32441964
As far as I know muzzleloaders are still viewed as guns despite not requiring a background check. If its a long gun muzzleloader it can be stored in a vehicle unloaded and unlocked. Handguns unloaded and locked.

What usage could a fleet of airships have on the modern day battlefield? Could they be used to effectively fight other first world armies or would they just be big floating memes in the sky?
The usage I could think of is mobile resupply bases/ aerial aircraft carriers (provided that there is a hanger worked into the airship). What does /k/ think of these lighter than air giants?

>The usage I could think of is mobile resupply bases/ aerial aircraft carriers
No. Airships are retardedly inefficient for lifting large loads - 1,000 cubit feet of hydrogen only gets you a little over 70lb of lift at sea level. The higher you go, the less your lift. Even the Hindenburg - the largest airship ever - only had a useful payload of about 30,000lb.

Worse, because you're buoyancy and you've got this massive volume required for lifting your payloads, you're going to be incredibly susceptible to weather (both winds and changing pressures associated with fronts) and unable to maneuver around it. The USN's two largest airships - Akron and Macon - were both lost in weather related incidents, along with several WW1 era ships.

The only practical purposes an airship could hold in modern times would be those where
>there is no threat from enemies
>something must stay static and airborne indefinitely
Given those criteria, the only real option is very long range early warning radars. The US has looked at that, and has a limited number of these in service.

Lift capacity is that bad for an airship? Wow, you learn something new everyday.

desu I think it's only be useful scaled down.

Did /k/ get any x-mas funs?

Pic related, my based Uncle gave my a Iver Johnson Safety automatic hammerless (third edition, manufactured between 1909–1941...dont know the specific year of this particular model, but I know it is most likely one of the earlier produced models)

Its in surprisingly good shape. Cylinder has no play, neither does the the top break. Im going to clean the shit out of the copper fowling in the barrel and cylinders and fire the thing next week
