No, it's just a bored lonely man who found a hobby.
Sounds familiar for some reason.

Except that he works in the firearms industry, has written countless user manuals and consults for dozens of companies. And is also married.

Can we get a SHTF food thread going? What's the best tasting food with the most longevity at the best price point per calorie? So far I only have a tub of Mountain House and a solid supply of canned goods. If you had to buy a lot of this shit or stock up on ingredients pre-Trump civil war what do you buy for long term survival food that you can actually endure eating long term?

Ramen Noodles. Lots of Ramen Noodles. I can afford to stock them and hey 69 cent noodles is better than starving to death
Canned food and water. MREs are meme tier.

Hey /k/, what do you think was the worst /k/ related jobs ever?
Not necessarily the hardest, or hottest, or even the most dangerous. Just the ones that suck at a terrifyingly awful level.
My vote is combat surgeon before modern medicine.
>surrounded by gangrene
>buckets of limbs sawed off
>smell of pus and death and blood
>knowing almost all of them will die during surgery OR the infection
>terrible equipment
>probably cramped and hot, darkish by most standards today
>people laying in terrible agony until put under the knife, then in agony when they wake up
>being coated in the blood of like 30 people all day
>bullshit sanitation and hygeine standards

Must have been hellish.

I'm probably going to buy a shotgun for home defense within the week. Alternatively, I might get a rifle, as that has more utility in sport.
Recommendations on both? I'm not able to spend $5k or anything, but I'm also not flat broke, and I'd rather not end up spending more in the long run by getting a gun that's just going to gather dust on the shelf once I get one that isn't bottom rung. $1k is around my top.
just get a Mossberg 500 in 12ga and be done with it
>>33010549

I'm out of shape, can i fire this?

Punch very neat holes in a person that might not come out the other side.
Make shot placement count.
you could definitely kill a squirrel with it
.22 or is designed to be fired from a rifle... As in, a longer barrel.
You'll lose velocity and shoot fireballs out of a barrel that short.
Is the M1 Carbine a meme gun or actually enjoyable to shoot? Saw one at my local gun shop today and it felt like a really nice rifle but I didn't have 1300 to drop on it
>>33009988
both
>>33009988
For that price, it's a meme. Otherwise it is an all around good gun. A price you should look for is between 5-800, unless it is a verifiably unique vintage.
Good luck with that, because most of the time the sellers are fudds that greatly overestimate their value.
Good gun, look for a better price.

>Minneapolis resident

>Want handgun
So, in obtaining a permit, is it required that I travel from Fargo to Minneapolis? What is the process like?
fucking what? I've lived my whole life in MN and never heard of this
>>33009892
You need a permit to purchase a handgun
https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/bca/bca-divisions/administrative/Pages/firearms-permit-to-purchase-transfer.aspx
>>33010016
Isn't that a thing everywhere? and you don't have to go to Minneapolis for it, just your local police department.
Is there a law that makes it illegal for them to visibly label your luggage that it contains a firearm?
I read on a forum that there is but can't find it.
Also flying with guns general.
>>33009747
...what?
I don't know of a single US airline company that does that anyways. here's how you fly with a gun in your luggage:
>declare your firearm at check-in
>depending on the carrier, open the container the firearm is in so they can verify it's unloaded
>get unloaded firearm tag from check-in person
>put tag in whatever secure container you're using
>take firearm to nearby TSA station to get it checked
>TSA takes bag from there
>fly on plane like normal
>pick up luggage at destination
congrats, you have successfully flown with a gun in your luggage. I've done it a lot.
recently in the news.

Ohio guitar player has been taking his pistol as a carry on 50 times a year and was only caught recently. I wouldn't have thought the TSA was THAT scattershot. Also technically caught by Customs not TSA so they cant even claim 1:50
>>33009747
For domestic flying in the U.S. make sure the gun is legal at point A and point B. Avoid connections in places such as Chicago, New York, or New Jersey where the gun might be illegal. The gun needs to be declared to the airline as checked baggage, not carryon baggage. The gun should be in a hard case secured by several padlocks. You can carry 11 pounds of ammo in the original box or in a solid (like metal or wooden box) in the case with the gun, no loose ammo. You will have to show the TSA agent the gun in the case before it is X-rayed and put on the plane. You as the passenger have to keep the key to the case on your person at all times. They will put the gun on the luggage carousel at the destination airport or you will pick it up at the destination airport's baggage office for that airline. Be careful with Reagan National--they like to put your luggage on the wrong carousel.
What can you tell me about the makarov?
Is it good for CC?
>>33009596
It's small and it shoots Russian 9mm.

Greetings /k/, I'm about to purchase a S&W 442 PC model J Frame as my first handgun.
I've read up on revolvers, and I'm confident that this is what I want to go with.
My question is, what ammunition do y'all use in self defense .38s?
I'be seen plenty of loads that completely fail to expand from snubs, and several that expand, but only penetrate about 13" and are impossible to find. (135 Gold Dots)
Please post pics of your setups too!
Also, do waddcutters injure in any way differently to FMJ, or are they a meme?
>>33009167
I use the S&W bodyguard .38 I like it, my only complaint it that the cylinder release sticks sometimes but it does shoot great
>>33009167
I like the short barrel gold dots, but you can't find them? Golden sabres then. 135gr
Do you think it would be possible to completely CNC a custom firearm? I've been wondering this for a while.
I think it has already been done. Does anyone have that webm of the sniper killing people with a heavy looking rifle that looks like something a competition shooter would be toting around?

Redpilll/Bluepill me on an H&R Pardner Tactical shotgun. Im very white... very very white. So is my wife. We have multiple handguns in the house but after today, that doesnt seem like enough.
My neighbor had his front door kicked in and was killed in his kitchen today... I was talking to the dude 12 hours before. My wife works from home, I do not. She is alone for 10+ hours a day.
I have $300 dollars I can spend, and a Cabelas 2 blocks away. I live in a cash and carry long gun state, and can get the H&R before work, run her through a quick operation talk, and head to work.
What do you think? Multiple handguns in arms reach, or multiple handguns in arms reach, and a 12 gauge, 18.5 barrel, 3" chamber shotgun, a better option?
Im just every so hesitant since it is SO cheap. Id get a Mossy 500 in a heart beat, but they are 200 dollars more, and I dont have it until Friday
No help at all?

>>33008640
Thanks, but you shouldnt be so tryhard. That wasnt even remotely funny. I want to laugh. I have a sense of humor... but dude, that time has passed.

Hey /k/, I got a Gerber Kukri (pic related).
I've read a lot of mixed reviews about it, what do you all think about it? I haven't tested it yet, so I'm not sure about the quality, but I have spent a while sharpening it, so it should be a decent kukri.
I also have a SOG kukri that's way sharper, even out of the box, but I'm wondering if I fucked up getting the Gerber in the first place.
I'm probably gonna get a Cold Steel kukri next, but I'm just wondering what y'all think about the Gerber.
>>33008464
Gay. The Cold Steel Espada XL will take down a tree just fine.
>>33008484
Like I said, I'm probably getting a Cold Steel next.
Should I just use the Gerber as a beater?
