Does /k/ have its own iceberg picture?
In case you somehow didn't see any of these during your 4chan stay: popular("pleb") stuff goes to the top, the most obscure("patrician") stuff goes to the bottom.

So lile 4% of the board?
I'm in the market for my first bolt action centrefire rifle, and I've narrowed my choices down to two options. I'm debating between the Tikka T3X CTR and Savage 10 FCP-SR both in .308.
Tikka
>Better overall quality
>Butter smooth action
>Great stock
>Sub-MOA
>Shitty mags
Savage
>Half the price
>Not Sub-MOA
>Cheap stock
>Large bolt handle
>AccuTrigger
>Cheaper and better mags
I'm at an impasse with these two rifles. On one hand the Tikka is leaps and bounds better quality overall, but on the other hand I'd have more money for accessories and mags with the Savage. Both would be used mainly for long range precision shooting as well as deer and hog hunting. Does anybody here have experience with either?

>Savage
>Not subMOA
Source?
>>33013931
My FCP-SR is definitely sub-moa. That being said, if you can't find an early one (one that takes AICS mags), don't bother, as they've cheapened it up quite a bit.
>>33013931
I would go with Savage + custom stock that's glass beaded.
pretty sure there's shit like aftermarket AI stocks that fit it, have nice mags and you won't have to pay more than a full custom chassis would cost.

What kind of gun/training should a dead broke college student look for?
>>33013237
Boxing if you have a local ymca, hi point.
>>33013255
I currently wrestle and train judo, Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the off season which is fast approaching so I'm covered when it comes to martial arts. I was thinking of saving some paychecks to get a cheap, reliable gun but I'm woefully ignorant on all things related to firearms. Should I look into any classes offered by my local shooting range to get oriented with proper gun care and marksmanship?
>>33013237
How dead broke?
If you are dead broke, you should still have access to the school gym. Lift and run. Get fit. Eat protein, drink water, take fish oil. Do that everyday. See if you college has a martial arts club.
For training, if you are dead broke, a gas air soft gun. You can train with it anywhere, but you can do drills with it similar to a real firearm. get a glock gas gun and a M4 gas gun, gas, pellets, a belt with a holster and mag pouches.
Then just practice all the time. Setup different targets and run through different drills.
Do you have money and access to a range you can use often?
How do I buy a gun as an autist? I look like the stereotypical school shooter

Is the 1911 overpriced nowadays? What's a pistol you wish you bought as your first? What pistols did you regret buying? Are revolvers memeguns outside of sport?
> Is the 1911 overpriced nowadays?
I do think its overpriced, problem is everyone wants one, companies know and higher tier companies charge you up the ass. That being said I have a 1911.
>What's a pistol you wish you bought as your first?
I sometimes wish I would've bought the CZ-01 or PCR first. I got a Glock 19 first. Overall not a bad start.
> Are revolvers memeguns outside of sport?
Hell no, you get a good caliber that you can use in a revolver and and lever if you have it. Plus easy to reload.
With the existence of Rock Island Armory no, 1911s are not overpriced.

Why do retarded things like this happen in pop culture, /k/?
Firefighter m113.
>>33012467
Firefighting isn't /k/ related.
>>33012467
Police M113.
Why aren't we using these as patrol cars? They're a damn sight better than whatever peice of shit they've got doing the job now.
>>33012479
Because they're not so good in chases.
Hi there, I come from a country which is cucked beyond belief so I can't own a gun but I still want to avoid getting culturally enriched. I'm allowed to own whatever cold weapon I want at home, so what's my best option?
Take into account:
>price
>availability, since it's going to be difficult getting weapons from overseas
>functionality in close quarters and weight

I used to think the whole ".22LR does more damage in the brain because it bounces around inside" was just a meme, but today in uni. my neuro class had a guest lecturer who does leading research on concussions at the biggest research hospital in Toronto, and she specifically talked about the .22LR doing lots of damage in the CNS because it can't exit, and just bounces around.
Now, her main expertise is on the cumulative effect of repeated concussions in hockey players, so she might have been bullshitting, but I'm not sure. Any fellow medical /k/ommandos got any insights on this?
>>33012140
an awful lot of mobsters and mafia hitmen swore by the 22 short. that's where the rumor came from. in all honesty it was mostly because it was cheap ammo that could be used in throw-away guns that didn't make a whole lot of noise. regardless there are a lot of graves filled with the bodies of people shot and killed by a 22. Then again just about anything that goes into the noggin will most likely kill a man.
>>33012140
I have seen first hand 22lr to frontal bone in a human. I posted some images from a CT scan a couple of years ago.
To be honest the penetration was crap and the damage underwhelming. Like all ammo its shot placement. An inch either side and the dude would have hit his COW or ICA's.
The patient entered hospital with a GCS of 15 and it never really got any lower.

You're probably much better off with a 40rd Magpul PMag, they at least have a good reputation. But.... for six fucking dollars, it's not that big a deal if you break one or two of them. Just have a few steel mags or Lancers in reserve.
Is it feasible for someone with moderate to superior TIG welding skills to acquire some sort of job in firearm manufacturing/repair? I fucking hate being a welder. $23 an hour isn't worth being a booty call for foremen and being laid off for months at a time is shit.
>>33011719
a booty call for the foreman? The fuck are you doing?
Generally, only in companies that make guns with welds will you see a job as such, if you were say, a machinist, then it would be cool since you'd basically be able to work pretty much anywhere, so here's what you have to look for.
>AK pattern rifles with stamped receivers.
>HK style rifles like PTR
>Stamped anything really
>design your own gun.
>Really, literally any gun with stamped receivers as parts are either welded on like I suspect the rails are in AKs or receivers are welded together like the seam on the bottom of all HK roller locking designs.
If you find a company that makes these, they'll have some use for you, assuming they have an opening.
Now that I've answered your question, please explain How or rather WHY you are "...A booty call for foremen..."

Do you own anything in the "Sub Pistol" category?
Pic related
Nope.
I don't see a point unless it's full retard and for 5k+ before the cost of ammo for ghetto trash and 30k+ for ones I actually want I can get much better things.
>>33011163
I have an MPX with a 4" barrel.
Local range has an *awesome* pistol range and a shit rifle range. Their "pistol" range is only relegated by muzzle velocity and nothing else, so a bunch of the guys there chop down MPX's, Scorpions, ar9's, etc. so we can have more fun on the pistol range. Plus makes a nice HD gun for my wife.
