Is art class really worth it? Can't one study and teach herself while creating great art in the end?
>>2431312
Yes but having an expert to tell you what you're doing wrong speeds up the process a huge amount
>>2431312
Do you necessarily need to take classes to be successful? No. But classes are another learning tool available to you if you want it.
Classes are for if you want more personal guidance, if you need structure and have difficultly doing that on your own, access to resources you may not have or have difficulty obtaining otherwise (nude figure drawing, printers, printing press, kilns, woodshops, studio space, etc. depending on what the class offers), and in-person feedback. When I took a few art courses in college, I really enjoyed the creative atmosphere of working along side other artists. Working in isolation now, I miss it.

>herself
Ha.
You will never make it.
I recently got 2 cracked versions of photoshop
CS6 and CS4
CS6 doesnt work on my shit laptop, BUT cs4 is outdated.
So is there any reason why I can't just use CS4 forever? Like I realised straight away that some of the hotkeys are different but can I basically do the same thing and that the differences are minimal?
There's no alt-opacity in CS4. Why even live.

I challenge /ic/ to beat my AI on making your own artistic version of picture attached.
I will post my AI's work in one hour or so
read the rules faggot
>>2427161
nah. I only draw men who are examples of physical perfection.
Too bad
>you will never be as good as a 100yo grandma
why try
You're a mentally disabled person if you can't paint better than this even though you're trying.
>>2431359
post your work faggot, words are cheap
the year 2016. Why are schools and college art classes so against drawing the naked body?
theyre not, mine has it all week long
I just started high school last fall but there was already a kid kicked out for nude art.
>>2427388
Because there are very few people that take it seriously. Mostly you will see horny males with raging boners, the casual wet girl, and the not so rare, stealth fap guy.
Alright d/ic/ks! I just did this.
I cant draw a fucking thing for at least a month.
And if i lose mobility in my finger, maybe forever.
ASSUMING I HAVEN'T fucked my finger up completely, what can I study in the meantime?

How would I set up perspective in a still life? I find that when I'm drawing cups and bowls and whatnot the ellipses become difficult to draw because I have no clue how wide to make them.
I get easily discouraged when I compare myself to artist even slightly better than me. What should I do?
When I am drawing from life, it can take me up to two/three hours to fill a page with what's in front of me (mild detail). Is this too long? Does anyone else here like to fill pages with urban sketching? How long do you spend on a whole page sketch of your view?

Am I crazy for really liking this? It's kind-of-but-not-reallly like a brush pen, but the tip is quite hard so I find it easier to not shake. And it's cheap as balls.
Cheap pen thread general?

I actually have a few of those pens. Some of them ran out rather quickly, though.
I used them a lot, but now I'm using mechanical pencils and wooden pencils.
I really like this one. Very simple, nothing fancy. and you can get 12 of them for like 16$ at amazon. Lasts at least a few months.
Sakura brush pen is cheap and good
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good screen capture program thats lightweight? (and free)
I use to be able to record my screen with quicktime while drawing a 300 res file in photoshop with minimal problems. Im not sure if its cause i have a cintiq now and that takes extra memory but its impossible for me to run both quicktime and photoshop together now. I am on an older iMac tho.
>>2431074
I use Camstudio. It's free, quick and easy install, instantly compresses and converts the recording to one of a bunch of file types you choose from, and I had no trouble running it while using photoshop and I'm on a really basic ass laptop that has an offbrand graphics card. Ironically the laptop can't handle any video editing software.
>>2431077
>Camstudio
Not mac compatible anon :(
>>2431074
I use OBS. No idea how lightweight it is really, but I've never had problems with it. I use it to stream too.
I'm offering to complete requests for people who ask me on my art blog, and the requests are pretty simple drawings, but it's making me not want to draw any more. I lose any drive to create even simple sketches because the subject matter isn't what I'm interested in. I get too many requests now to draw what I want to.
However, I do realize that it's important to appeal to others for novice artists to gain popularity.
I was wondering, does anyone here do requests? how do you handle them?
>>2430752
Do what you want. Do what interests you. If you want 'muh popularity' fan art bullshit then shut up and do it. If you want to make your own stuff then do that. Shut up and draw.
>>2430752
muh requests only attracts people who arent willing to pay. its useless and youre working for free for total fags.
There's no obligations to do requests. As far as popularity goes I'd say doing fanart is more productive for getting noticed than doing requests.
Usually when I do requests I go to the /tg/ drawthread and look for ideas I like. The requests aren't directed at me and there's no pressure to do them, you just do what seems fun.
Unless I'm actually friends with the person asking I wouldn't feel at all bad not filling a request I don't like. Nigga can pay me if he wants me to draw it that much.
Can we have a handwriting/calligraphy thread?
Post examples of your writing and discuss.

I too pulled some handwriting off google. Please discuss it OP.
>>2419130
The reason I didn't post my own off the bat was because it's pretty shit and I feared it'd just derail the thread right away. I see now that picking a silly one off google invites shitposters all the same.
We had a good thread on this subject a few weeks ago.

Hey /ic/ sorry if this is vague and uneducated, but does anyone know the name of the style, technique, or process for creating these kinds of portraits? I mean more or less the presidential bill portraits or a style that seems popular in the 1800s. I'm trying to create something that emulates them but I'm too ignorant to properly research anything.
Engraving.
>>2431029
Anything more specific? Am I just seeing a style that isn't really there?
>>2431080
woodcut
they need to print that shit so they embed them on blocks etc
Just starting out with this and just want some advice, the person is Touka from Tokyo Ghoul fyi.

Study more anatomy anon. Go back to the basics really. Her head is way too small. Honestly the body isn't -horrible- so study faces and heads. Every single facial feature on her isn't where it should be.
