Is the church art industry dying?

Hello /ic/,
First time on this board. For my art appreciation class in college they gave me this portrait to critique. I have to depict the "Mass and Balance" of this portrait. This is what I have so far:
>water droplets are seen in the background
>shadows
>water is propelling down lake
>Juxtaposition- Morning to noon
>Branches
>Age of Exploration?
>Surveying?
>Manifest Destiny?
> Louis and Clarke?
>Planning
>Rocks and boulders are bulk with a 3-D emphasis.
>Spring
>Branches resemble nice fixed contour lines.
>Color gradient is compatible with the opacity of the picture.
Obviously, I am an amateur when it comes to critiquing artwork. So I am hoping that perhaps you guys can point out anything that I might have missed.
Here is a bigger image of the portrait.
Looks pretty solid with teachers such as Nathan Fawkes and Hampton.Kinda reminds of fzd with a lower intensity.Im talking about their visual developing master taught in english, seems pretty good for just 5k for one year.

This
Or at least some of your work
I'm really interested in what the 200 bucks/ month level looks like
He did some music and the cover art for Hotline Miami 1 & 2, and his watercolor stuff is pretty dank.
I like it.

>it has to look like something I couldn't do myself to be appealing
That's a narrow-minded approach friend. Simple techniques can be very effective when employed by the right person. I think his work is pretty damn fresh for what it is.
Can we get some artworks in here that really show a strong sense of scale? (super exaggerated perspectives, etc)
source on this?

I think it's in the Shadow of the Colossus artbook
Let's say there's an art teacher job opening. You're not the most proficient artist but you know that if you don't apply, someone even worse will get the position. Should you apply, knowing full well you arent qualified?
Also, are digital portfolios accepted in these type of things usually? What about stylized faggotry?
>>2434036
Is all the things written in the beginner guide good enough for you to become a teacher?
>>2434036
Just because you're from /ic/ I'd say you're probably at least somewhat qualified. You probably understand the importance of fundamentals. What's the position? If you draw a lot of stylized stuff, make sure you don't teach your style to the students.
Why the hell not? If you like teaching in general, and don't have a problem with kids. The only important thing I see here is not your own drawing ability, but your ability to teach, to vulgarize complex matters to a simple way, coupled with patience and tolerance if you're dealing with kids.
Moreover, what grade of school will you be teaching at? Grade school? Middleschool? High school?
Do you like to have a good time with traditional mediums? I would recommend sending traditional works over digital works. It's more easily relatable to the normies. And seen as being more accessible in case the school doesn't have a lot of computers in the art classroom (if you apply with digital works the principal might think that it's the only medium you're capable with and also the only medium you are capable at/can teach with). Don't take risks and take photos of diverse works with mixed medias. The more diverse, the better. (clay sculpting, paper mache, charcoal, watercolor etc)
Got an intuos 5 pen and touch small but turns out that its almost impossible to 1) write with 2)draw with. There seems to be very little resolution on the thing, and lines will stick together unless im zoomed in to like 200% - 300%. I feel like you lied to me and I just wasted my money.
Where do I go from here?
Anyone know what im going through? I just wasted tons of cash on this crap. I cant write a sentence without it 1) looking illegable like a child wrote it or 2) taking much longer to write than on regular paper, much less draw
Small tablets are too small, but it sounds like a calibration issue than size you have here.
It's fine to draw on a small tablet, you just have to zoom out sometimes for larger strokes.
>cant write a sentence without it 1) looking illegable like a child wrote it or 2) taking much longer to write than on regular paper, much less draw
Have you used a tablet before?
Sell that piece of shit and get a Huion Giano. Whoever told you to get a small tablet of any brand is a retard. The relative size of your tablet to your monitor is the #1 consideration, literally nothing else matters.
Is this the most aesthetic meme? I believe so.

I'm a industrial design student and I'm having a tough time with the aesthetic part of the profession.
My approach to product design is mostly needs-oriented, and my creativity comes from finding solutions to problems. However, in order to land a nice job I will need a portfolio, and employers give a huge importance to sketching skills and the WOW factor.
My skills are passable. I know my perspective and can depict complex forms like the ones you learn to do in S. Robertson's How to Draw or construct the human figure from reference like in Figure Drawing Design and Invention.
My problem lies in coming up with appealing forms, proportions and other aesthetic elements in the things I design. Seriously, it's like I'm missing the understanding of why things look interesting to the public. I can differentiate good and bad aesthetic design but when I try to come up with my own aesthetic solutions, everything I do is either derivative (a blatant copy) of some other work or super bland.
I did J. Park's Foundation first and second terms, pic related, in order to go over this hurdle but there's no theory behid it, just the guy showcasing his ideation skills by drawing warriors and tanks that look cool.
Any help with this? Do you know of any resources that teach this kind of thing?
maybe learning graphic design would help?

I don't think that getting into a different field of work would help me with this.
Bump, people.
I need some help
