Hello fellow alcohol/ic/
So I'm an art student and now I've amassed a good deal of different pieces, what website should I use to spread my art ? DeviantArt was the hot stuff but now it's also the bastillion of autism, I don't even want to think about using tumblr, and the only other big is pinterest, which is see Is used a lot today, but on the other hand I don't feel comfortable with it and it's a fucking hipster nest.
What other options are left ?
pic unrelated
Lots of people make a page on the online saatchi gallery.
topkuk.
honestly the best place to keep a gallery of your artwork is on facebook or instagram. its never going to get shutdown because its too big, and the ability to upload in bulk makes facebook great.
what i do is pic related. I have a seperate page from my main facebook account ( which i never use), and then i start albums for the different years of my work then upload everything to those albums as long as they fit the category.
instagram is the best place for exposure if thats what your looking for instead of a community. just make sure you use a lot of tags when you are getting started.

like this guy said OP, instagram. Its really good for exposure and you will impress MILLIONS of normies.
Does anyone have any good examples of western artists who have managed to break into the Japanese art market?
Picture related, I don't care what anyone says about anime, Weee's art fills my heart with warmth. https://twitter.com/weee_desu
sakimichan and Doxy

those artists's primary audience is still western, whereas artists like weee actually get work from japanese companies and have a following in japan.
Why do you care? Only western kids are dumb enough to pay for this art
Is there any point studying art at university?
It seems like a huge waste of money when you could just teach yourself.
He actually got worse...
structure and socializing is probably the only plus. if you don't have a problem with this then fuck it, save your money.
>>2422361
i was thinking the same thing, how does that even happen?
So, newbie here, what exactly is a drawthread, or how does it work?
(yes pic is my portrait I did a couple years ago)
lurk more.

Thanks.
delete this thread.
post art you're working on and want feedback on in the beginner thread.
post questions you have in the questions thread.

As an artist, anyone else butthurt over the fact that the true vision of this movie will never be finished?
Yes.
>>2430190
Yes
>>2430190
Yeah, I'm sure the film would've been visually impressive and all but the story itself would still be garbage.
My mom thought she was being nice and got me 4 of these, but I only use Strathmoore or borden and riley; canson paper makes me want to throw up. Is there anything I can do with this?
>>2428853
Draw in them.
>>2428853
Use them? Maybe not for finished pieces but for practice?
>>2428853
>I only draw in organic, fair traded free-range vegan paper.
What's a good software for imitating analogue paiting?
I liked mypaint but the newer version is trash.
How bout corel painter?
I understand that for painting anime shit, most artist use SAI and photoshop.
ArtRage
Rebelle
So how does one make a realistic illustration without a live reference?
I know about reference collages but I think that isn't enough.
>>2427958
pictures dude learn to google
Some people are able to do that because they can pull from years of life drawing and related experience like Vilppu. Many modern commercial artists just trace or copy and paste photographs though; so that's how, generally.
>>2427972
So my issue is that I don't have enough photoreferences?
Should you only learn to paint once perfecting your lineart ?
>>2431720
u should only learn loomis once drawing
bump. serious question and not my art btw
learn both at the same time
if you can't learn fit in any time or whatever, do comes before
but I think both is the best way to go because it saves time and you don't want to be confused (like your drawing could be good but the design/composition is bad)
If I just want to learn to make anime style art and retro pixel art graphics, is it worth the time and effort to go through loomis and all the standard basics?
If I have 1 month to spend 8 hours a day pushing myself hard at art and those are my end goals, how do you suggest I divide up my time?
I have all other skills needed to make video games but art is a non-existent skill for me, so I'd like to work smart and hard and get my skill level as high as possible in a short period of time.
It's highly recommended to learn to actually draw if you want to make anything bigger than 24x24 sprites or something. You won't learn anything in one month though.
Don't want to be an unhelpful cunt but really you should partner with an artist if you can't draw yourself.

why they are letting model become the artist and thus they themselves accepting the painful reality of that is set in stone- sooo brave and pretty dont you think?
if you were never once called talented, what in God's name motivated you to pick up a pencil and call yourself an artist you sorry pieces of fucking shit?
>>2426907
It motivates me to get gud so people think I'm born with talent
I always enjoyed doodling as a kid, so I decided to take it further. I've never had any sort of talent or disposition for art, but nothing else gives me the exhilarating feeling that creating art does.
>>2426907
Actually when you start doing quite good at drawing everyone who likes it and doesn't know about art will call you talented
Anyway you just need the passion to start and don't stop just because you don't see instant results and lots of hard work
who else here faps to what they draw?
> start drawing some tits
> fapping with left hand as pencil digs into the notebook
> outlining curves of legs and hips over and over
> climax while defining shoulders
> l-loomis
> its shit, but 10/10 fap
> throw it in the trash
> feelsgoodman
>>2414775
Sometimes I do, but once I masturbate I lose my motivation to continue drawing. It really fucks with my attention span, because I usually only want to draw porn and nothing else and once I make the mistake of whacking off to it I no longer want to finish it.
>>2415126
usually for me it goes like this:
>1st day after fapping- space marines and knights
>2nd d- sexy space marines and knights
>3rd d- lewd space marines and knights
>on the day of fapping- full hardcore stuff
>go back to first day
I must admit I do! Probably in comparison to the staff over at the porn-thread. (by the way what happened to that - it used to flow round on the first page of /ic? Has it become so boring they finally shut it down?)
But I don't make the mistake to start choking the chicken before having brought something down on the paper/screen that supplements my fantasy not vice versa - or was it just the other way around?
And cause I'm left-handed I use my right..
