Nice way to end empire! It isn't, like thousands years later Germans and Franks would still kill each other because of this entire autistic mess.
They didn't understand the Treaty of Verdun as dividing the Empire. It was just assigning different areas to different people, but under the assumption that the realm was still only one.

...HOWEVER!
I laughed.
I'm a gentrified Asiatic dude in America who's been going through a revelation of the existence of God. Once I started "believing" in God, I immediately converted to Islam. This had nothing to do with the theology or the morality of Islam and the Qur'an, but totally because my parents were Muslims and I thought it tapped in to some ancestral collective unconscious or some shit.
Now looking at the history of Islam and the Prophet, I've been extremely skeptical. I'd still say I'm a Muslim, and Islam will always have my respect, but I'm basically a wayfaring theist atm.
I've been browsing /his/ and /lit/ and I see how much great theology and history Christianity has to offer and the story of the Gospel. It's all great, but the biggest deterrent for me has always been that I'm not white. I don't relate to it and I find it as a weird, foreign religion for me to submit myself to.
Anyone relate to this?

if you want to make it a racial thing, the ethiopian and coptic traditions are legit churches with ancient histories. but at the end of the day, god looks at the heart not the skin so you should go whererever the spirit leads you.

maybe Judaism would interest you. it's definitely less "european" than christianity, which was heavily influenced by platonic philosophy
Is it true that metaphysical and religion belief is evidently natural to and healthy for the humans? Does it means that atheism is against human nature?
>>1738103
>Against nature
>literally is been the default of all living things.
>>1738114
Lacking belief in god(s) because you think the idea that they exist is implausible, and lacking belief in god(s) because you've never conceived of the idea of a god aren't really the same thing. Atheism seems to mostly to refer to the former. We don't say animals are atheist.
>>1738103
Humans seem naturally inclined to be superstitious and believe in spirits and the like but I don't see how it could be healthy.
>tfw history major
How does it feel to know our major is considered "free" and to be excluded by other professionals? Everyone around me seems like they're just smart enough to get into college but not smart enough to go for STEM. Everyone considers themselves a huge history buff but only care about wars (mostly WWII).

What is your religion to you? What does God mean to you, and how does He come into contact with your life?
(Atheists can answer as well into how religion or non-religion affects them).
Puran Singh can answer it better than I ever could.
"Love in practice has not that grand colour which is given to it in books. It has the colour of the brown earth and it has the same rugged simplicity. Distribute your labour and the fruits of your labour all around you—feeding, clothing and making your brothers physically comfor-table — this is the simple life of the Sikh. It is a poor life of love and feeling, it has no blind pride and vanity about it.”

It's a way of living.
Atheist guy here.
I actually like religion for the most part, the ritual and dealing with deep issues are appealing. I was raised protestant so that's the "God" I'm used to, but it's neat to learn about other views. Church history is really interesting to me, so I have a fairly robust knowledge of theology, which is great when talking with Christians who really know what they believe.
If he was anything like the rest of humanity he probably viewed them as a cancer.

>NEW YORK, September 23, 2016 (LifeSiteNews)—A Catholic parish is promoting a pro-homosexual “Pilgrimage of Mercy” and not planning on denying its participants Holy Communion when they attend Mass as part of the pro-LGBT event in October. The parish is also hosting a speaker from the nation’s leading homosexual lobby group, the Human Rights Campaign, today. The Archdiocese of New York declined to comment on both events.
>On September 22, the parish sent out a mass email advertising the LGBT event.
>“Join us on Sunday, October 2 for a pilgrimage to celebrate and recognize LGBT faithful Catholics in the United States during this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy,” the announcement to the parish email list said. “The pilgrimage begins on the Upper East Side at 69th St and 5th Ave, proceeds through Central Park, and ends at St. Paul's in time for the 12:30PM mass. This event is organized by the Gay and Lesbian Alumni of the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary's College.”

What's the problem? Christians aren't supposed to follow Old Testament. There's nothing wrong with being a gay Christian.
What are some open and unsolved problems in geography? The social science part, not the physical part.

no.
They inherited the Byzantine throne, so yes.
