It's a renaissance-era forgery. Romans didn't look like that.

How in the world did it spread so fast? HOW!?

It's not hard when people are sick and tired of the former rulers and their shitty wars and taxations wanting something fresh and hip.
What is Art, exactly?
>>1860666
What art community considers art. Well, that was simple.
A way to express your darkest feelings, friend.
Politics.
Is there a connection as to why most of the Nazi high command were Bavarians, or is it just simple coincidence? Naturally the birthplace of the movement was in Bavaria, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was therefore entirely Bavarian - as naturally, most Germans are not, and therefore at its height, Nazi Germany was mostly not Bavarian of course.
Could it be an example of a late sort of Austrian area power grab? A sort of resurgence of empires in that area previously?
if i remember correctly most of the high command were Prussians
>Could it be an example of a late sort of Austrian area power grab
Bavaria and Austria are two very different things
National Socialism was Prussia on steroids, and Bavarians hated Prussia.
>>1860736
>Bavaria and Austria are two very different things
No, they're not.
Does /his/ have any charts? I'm really interested in history but not sure what books are the best to cover historical events
>>1860563
obligatory "if a = b then dividing each side by (a - b) would be dividing by zero"
>>1860563
Considering the over 4000 years of human history to work with you'll want to be a little more specific for "historical events"
What geographical area, civilization, religion or culture interests you the most?
>>1860593
general empires. Reading up on Roman Empire currently, but I'm particularly interested in getting a broad history major periods and then getting specific afterwards so I know my interests
in terms of power

Yes. More scientifically advanced as well.

not even close....no they weren't

WE
>>1860365
How anyone can romanticize crusaders is beyond me. All they did was destabilize a region for over a century, killing thousands of civilians and their own men for virtually no gain.
Discuss.
Why should we let people starve if there's more than enough food to go around? Why should we let people die from diseases if we can treat them? If we can keep an old feeble man alive for another five years why not?
Social Darwinism is edgelordism dress up as "cuz nature".

Besides, darwinian selection between societies happens all the time.
It's why republics have beaten the shit out of everyone.
What is the oldest continuous martial arts tradition? my bet would be the (Maniwa) Nen ryu, at about 600 years old. There are some older traditions but they only maintain etiquette and ceremonial archery
The ol' rock to the head technique, simple, and easy to remember.
>>1860293
Only speaking of japanese TMA. Ogasawara-ryu still has its horse archery techniques, but I don't know if they are straight from the 12-13th century (and I somehow doubt it).
Maniwa Nen-ryu isn't exactly Nen-ryu though, even if it appears to be quite close and is probably only an enlarged take on Nen-ryu.
TSKSR is definitely older than Maniwa Nen-ryu anyway. If you don't consider that Maniwa Nen-ryu is what we have of Nen-ryu, that would make it the oldest continuous japanese tradition.
Martial arts are literally useless

We will ever see overt Imperialism again or has the word "Empire" been forever blacklisted?

It's uninspired bullshit that appeals to teenagers who think Nietzsche was a nihilist.
ITT: JUST quotes
>"Continuity and change are alike illustrated in a story remembered by Peter Charanis, born on the island of Lemnos in 1908 and later a professor of Byzantine history at Rutgers University. When the island was occupied by the Greek navy [in 1912], Greek soldiers were sent to the villages and stationed themselves in the public squares. Some of us children ran to see what these Greek soldiers, these Hellenes, looked like. ‘‘What are you looking at?’’ one of them asked. ‘‘At Hellenes,’’ we replied. ‘‘Are you not Hellenes yourselves?’’ he retorted. ‘‘No, we are Romans.’Thus was the most ancient national identity in all of history finally absorbed and ended. Charanis, as we will see, eventually came to regard himself as a Hellene."
>My first course in philosophy was nothing less than a summary of the important systems of thought put forward in Western Europe during the last twenty-six hundred years. Perhaps that is a slight exaggeration--we did gloss over a few centuries in the Middle Ages. For the rest we touched upon all the historic names from Thales to Nietzsche. After about nine weeks of this bewildering transit a friend approached me with a sour look on his face. "You know," he said, "I can't make head or tail out of this business. I agree with each philosopher as we study him. But when we get to the next one, I agree with him too. Yet he generally says the other one was wrong. They can't all be right. Can they now?" I was too much puzzled with the same difficulty to help him.

How do I get started with islamic theology?
I want to come to a justification of why islam is morally superior to other religions.
>>1860064
>I want to come to a justification of why islam is morally superior to other religions.
As a great Canadian philosopher once told us, when you kill people, they win
Islam is therefore a major provider of personal victory in the world
This is some of the weakest bait I've ever seen. It's so bad, it did its job in a stupid, roundabout way. I am mad at how poorly made this bait is. I'm even more mad because I know people are going to fall for it.
