>this is what people consider a high level philosopher nowadays
Not even say the dude is dumb, but the bar should be set higher.
>>2361483
OP, the only people who consider Molyneaux a philosopher at all, nevermind his "level", are his own fanboys. Get away from 4chan, and it's extremely rare to find people who have even heard of him.
He has been a historian and philosopher for most of his life, kid. He is more knowledgeable and experienced than anybody here.
>>2361497
I'm not comparing him to the board, I'm comparing his level to other philosophers.

War is fucking stupid and shouldn't be glorified
>>2361491
It shouldn´t but there is something morbidly interesting in war, since it determines what will happen in the oncoming years
>>2361501
I disagree entirely. War fought over political struggle and conquest is morbid because it's so useless. Boundaries of nations don't mean shit. I see myself as a member of Western civilization and not a citizen of some odd state that isn't going to exist in 400 years.
Redpill me on the assassination of Pertinax. Was it austism?
It was corruption plain and simple.
>Nero is kill
>praetorian guard play king maker and proclaim Pertinax emperor
>he realized this is dangerous and tries to reform the praetorian guard
>praetorian guard is like fugg let's kill this guy quick
Then they auctioned off the emperorship to poor ol Julianus.
"He attempted to institute several reform measures, although the short length of his time as emperor prevented the success of those attempts. One of those reforms, the restoration of discipline among the Praetorian Guards, led to conflict that eventually culminated in Pertinax's murder by the Guard."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pertinax
Basically just another example of the Praetorian Guard being shitheads who needed to be decimated if not mass executed and slaughtered a long time ago.
>>2361418
Now Didius Julianus' death was fat out autism on Severus' part.
Literally his only crime was buying something that was for sale.
How do you handle the objective truth that human life has absolutely zero intrinsic worth?
Nothing has intrinsic worth, therefore I assign my own, subjective worth to human life, just like everything else
Browse and occasionally post on /his/ when i think i have something to add to the discussion. People still tell me to kill myself though.

What a fucking asshole.
What are your thoughts on imperialism? The good and the bad.
well I think we need to civilize all of the uncontacted primitive tribes in the world
it's bizarre that governments are keeping these people in an artificially underdeveloped state and they call it protection. these people are practicing cannibalism and infanticide in some cases. that's the good thing about imperialism, they stamped that shit out.
>>2360837
Personally I think it's a bad thing. People will defend it by saying that it helps "uplift" less developed peoples, but extensive trade and mere exposure can achieve the same result and without the deaths of thousands, and anyone being subjugated against their will, and with much less risk of negatively affecting other areas and people. Granted the trade off is that it happens over a longer period of time, but I'd say that's a pretty easy sacrifice to make.
That being said, it's stupid to judge imperialists of the past with my highly contemporary morals.
>>2360837
We need a one world government to further human progress and imperialism is the only way to do that.
Let's take a break from pedophilia and meme threads and have a movie thread

Does anybody find the whole 'we wuz kangs' thing pretty interesting in an unironic way?
The vast majority of it is a meme spread by people laughing at the subject rather than actually supporting it. The moronic minority of blacks that support it are comparable to minorities of other races that believe similar horseshit
>>2360394
Lots of American blacks seem to believe in the Egypt thing. To the point it has somewhat influenced ghetto naming conventions.
I'm including in that 'we wuz kangs' label things like the nation of islam and sun ra; general mythic and historical imagery in afro-centric counterculture.
Do you think that stoicism is the only philosophy for this modern ages?
Don't forget Epicureanism.
Yes, we need moderation more than ever, our industrial economy allows us to produce and consume far more than we need.
Also whacky hippy leftist movements are spooked as fuck, we need this alternative.
The only philosophy for any age is Platonism.
This always pisses me off. They took iconic WW2 vessels, and nuked them.....for no fucking reason. What obscure historical event pisses you off?
>Pro-tip: It should be an event that most people wouldn't know or care about. The more petty and irrelevant the better. The burning of Alexandria doesn't count because everybody knows that was a tragedy.
>>2360315
>iconic WW2 vessels
I doubt you could name more than 4 of them without looking them up. And if you looked them up, you'd quickly realize why they were not iconic.

Lexington

Don't mind me, just being the best General in Western History that nobody has ever heard of.

>>2359372
you fucking what.
The police force and law enforcement was so inefficient at the time you cannot possibly make the claim for either way.
We get better records of accurate crime rates from Greece and Rome than we do from Victorian Britain.
Why did historical Christians hate nature so much?
>>2359037
How is that true? I thought that a lot of early christians lived as ascetic hermits in the woods or mountains.
>>2359057
*and mountains
They didn't. "Natural theology" was a thing.
Christians only developed an anti-nature stance when they started to pick up early Modern philosophy, like Descartes, Bacon, and Spinoza.
