How was the Russian Empire between 1905 and 1914?

Coul've been better. The loss against Japan in the Russo-Japanese war caused a crisis that almost caused a revolution and was averted only by emergency concessions by the Tsar. Lots of internal unrest, problems with increased industrialization, pan-slavists throwing a shitfit in eastern Europe.
On the bright side, Russia was modernizing at a fairly rapid place, and was set to overtake Germany by around 1950. If there were no external stresses, it might have dealt with its problems and remained a great power, but instead it got drawn into a war with Germany that it was not equipped to handle.
All in all, 4/10, would not emigrate to.
Hopeless. Stolypin tried to save it, but there was simply irreconcilable differences between the interests of the Tsar, the aristocracy, the intelligentsia and the peasantry.
Who was to blame
>>2362092
I would guess Tojo more than Showa-kun.
The emperor seems like he just went along with the games of the army and acted like the glue that kept the war effort together and going. Not much executive power I bet.
Not to say that he was blameless, though.
>>2362092
The emperor was a puppet, it was the generals in charge.
Japan was a country with a very powerful army that was pushing the government to fight and expand.
>>2362092
FUCKING JAPS
LET'S GO TOJO
Why aren't you writing a journal of current events for future historians to study?
Is that Kelsi Monroe?

Stuff is 1000x better documented today then in any other time in human history.
What is "western culture"? Can it be so easily defined with a blanket statement like that? The culture of places like North America and Europe has never really come across to me as so simple, especially since the west is where a wide array of people come together for opportunity and liberty. Wouldn't that mean western culture is just several cultures?

>Wouldn't that mean western culture is just several cultures?
yes, just like all other civilisations
Christianity.
Thoughts on pic related?
Misleading but not wholly inaccurate. If you think that the canon Bible has remained the same since originally written you're retarded.
>>2367466
>a Jewish comedian ripping on the Bible
Not even /pol/ but what more need be said?
Yea, you would have to be an idiot to believe in religion.
Lets move on.
Let's say there's a room. The christian, muslim or whatever says that there's a guy inside because someone told him or he just believes it. The atheist says there's no one inside because he didn't hear anything or see the guy leave the room. The agnostic says we just can't know if there's anyone inside.
Why don't you just admit agnosticism is the only thing that makes sense?
>he can't perceive the ethereal with his mind's eye
>the gnostic peeks
>that's actually what the pic OP posted illustrates

Was Egoism the peak of Human thought?

Why do people always act like Islamic slavery is as bad as western slavery?
Slavery is inherently evil no matter who does it to who, people shouldn't use bad things done to people who look like them as a dick measuring contest
>>2366188
because unlike you they don't realise that something is automatically, inherently worse if its committed by (european/western) white males
>>2366188
There's was no such thing as "islamic slavery" or "western slavery", the systems in the various countries under these two umbrella terms were varied, please read a book or two.
Can someone explain to me why agnostics think their stance isn't illogical?
>Humans can't have any knowledge whatsoever about God
The inversion of the argument would be:
>One of the characteristics of God is that humans can't have any knowledge about him.
Saying you can't have any knowledge about God and characterizing him at the same time is a logical fallacy.
I'm not sure.

About what?
I think the bigger question is why atheists entertain stupid ideas like the holographic or simulated universe completely seriously and dismiss the idea of a an intelligent creator out of hand
When did the concept of "white man" originate (as opposed to Frenchman, Englishman, et cetera)? Is it an American invention?
>>2365643
Pretty much yeah
>>2365643
When Japheth was born
Basically
The founding fathers thought only English people and Scots were white
What are "good" morals?

>good
>>2365440
that's redundant

Why
Redpill me on John Sobieski and the battle of Vienna.
>>2364963
He was of some help but alot of the work defending it was done by the Austrians.
Atleast, that's what I've been told on here.
It was the largest cavalry charge in history, and when combined with grinding attrition resulting from the hard siege of Vienna and the strength of the Holy League it shattered an Ottoman host, and ended up being the ending point of Ottoman expansion in Europe.
>>2364963
He was basically forced into helping by weighing the fact that Poland was increasingly in need of allies, and decided to try and make the Hapsburgs indebted to him instead of fighting them. He might have allied with the Turks if not for the fact that they were too far to be of much help in the event of a joint German and Russian invasion.
Also, most Protestant German princes didn't want to show up for the first siege, and the only one that did was there as a personal favor to the emperor. Nevertheless, his troops were treated poorly by the Catholic troops and they quickly marched home after the siege in anger.
If the Turks won the first siege, they would have probably given Vienna to a Protestant Hungarian puppet state, while the second siege was memed into existence by a proto-salafi movement that swept into the Ottoman court a few years earlier and had next to no chance or business succeeding given that it was mostly started out of ghazi romanticism, the equivalent of the Crusade of Varna only in reverse.
>france has the biggest population in europe

US has the largest population of any western or developed country.

Why didn't any of the East Asian cultures/empires discover America?
China, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Russia... All these countries and they never once went North just a bit more and discovered it?
The bloody Mongols made it to Europe, but they never once thought about going North of Lake Baikal.
It wasn't until the 1700s that the Russians even charted those Northern areas near the Bering Strait.
Or am I just being an idiot and have I overlooked something?
They, um, populated America
Because there was fucking nothing over there and they had no fucking need to think there'd be anything in there worth getting. Already Hokkaido and Sakhalin are barren wastelands without real civilization.
