How many indian deities are, at least by name, aryan/pan indoeuropean and not native to the Subcontinent?
It seems to me that the majority/most popular deities are of native/tantric origin more than indoeuropean
They have like 500 million of them, how do you expect us to remember all?
Agni is indo-european, so is Indra.

Did any knight/hero ever actually get rewarded with the hand of a princess in marriage?
Particularly I mean people who wouldn't have otherwise been of the social standing to marry a princess.
>>2389659
>knight
If it happened, the dude was ennobled.
>hero
Would have to be in the position of nobility to act and be recognized for heroics.
Those types of stories are probably based on OG chanson de geste poetry
>>2389674
>If it happened, the dude was ennobled.
Knights were nobles.
>>2389681
I meant already ennobled

They also have some of the most baffling and embarrassing military disasters of any country.

Why didn't Britain and America fight more despite having this vast amount of land filled with resources to squabble over?
>>2389024
Britain was busy with fighting France in the early years, and by the time that was over USA was both thriving on its own feet, and firmly allied to the Russian Empire. Attacking them would have set off a global war.
They wanted to but the circumstances were never quite right.
>>2389032
>firmly allied to the Russian Empire
Would Russia be able to do damage to Britain though?
>>2389032
That and neither country had any real interest in going to war after the war of 1812. Neither side had won that war and afterward both states were in such positions that it was better to compromise than to fight a war over what was generally not worth much (Northern Maine, American Columbia, Alaska etc.). The best part out of it is that the series of compromises in the Americas eased tensions between the two states despite and ultimately led to the Great Rapprochement.
>>2389048
The Crimean War was enough of a shock to Britain (despite being victorious) that they went looking for allies to further increase their waning edge over the Russian Steamroller.

>>2388899
Because paying the jizya was probably better than their feudal lords.

Not even 1/5
>Why were the Islamic armys so effective towards christianity?
Nope

The Christian world back then was smaller obviously
A serious question:
How reliable is Wikipedia for historical knowledge? I know that Wikipedia is nowhere near to primary resources (mainly books), but if the goal is to acquire general knowledge, then is Wikipedia the right choice?
>>2388849
Wikipedia is good for bar arguments and a quick skim, but that's about it. I wouldn't even use it for general knowledge.
>bolshevikipedia
Trash.
Ocassional Wikipedia Editor Here:
Wikipedia is reliable when it comes to facts. Facts which can be easily checked. That is, birth dates, birth places etc.
When it comes to general knowledge, Wikipedia is very good.
Problems:
Wikipedia isn't as nuanced as original texts and lacks the tendency to take ALL interpretations into consideration.
Images, if not properly sourced on Wikipedia can be misleading.
When it comes to Philosophical articles, Wikipedia can de disastrously reductive and misinterpret complex concepts.
When an article is huge, you can tend to trust it, it means a lot of work has been put in and is constantly monitored. Also watch out in the top right for a symbol indicating the article's quality or a type of lock symbol which has been put there to stop vandalism.
Generally, it is fine but Wikipedia behind the surface has a lot of problems. The categories are all fucked up to an insane degree and the problem continues as the site gets larger.

There are basically no academic books written about the Roman Kingdom because there is so little to go on so your best bet would be reading Livy's Ab Urbe Condita Libri
For the late empire basically anything by Peter Heather is good, he's a great historian
Why are modern muslims drinking and having sex before marriage in huge droves?

Did christianity accelerate or slow down humanity's progress? And beyond speed, did it have a positive or a negative impact on human civilization?
>>2388466
>Did christianity accelerate or slow down humanity's progress?
we have no idea what would have come into prominence in it's place had it not existed, so there's really no way of knowing.
>did it have a positive or a negative impact on human civilization?
sounds like a cop out, but i'd say it's a pretty big mixed bag, like most ideas.
well it depends on the alternative, and of course roman gods wouldn't have stayed around, rather when islam came around it would have taken over europe and drastically changed the fabric of everything we know in ways that are incomprehensible. yes

But join the military. They pay for your tuition basically. That way if you decide fts somewhere throughout the course of your pursuit, you aren't completely fucked.
Getting your BA first then going into military will open the door to become an officer, which is even better pay.
Why did England and France try so hard to prevent WW2? They let Germany take Austria and Czechoslovakia, and told the polish not to mobilize to defend their borders because it might provoke Germany. It seems like they knew another great war was coming, they saw that Germany was building tanks and training soldiers from way before, why didn't they strike first?
I was in charge of the allied defenses and the humans saw WW2 as really important and imagined an angry nation striking against the rest of Europe so I reaffirmed their world. Allowing them to build their defenses, also, their were multiple spells casted by the original The Father of Holy Trinity that made the Germans more powerful than they would be normally.
>>2388192
>Why did England and France try so hard to prevent WW2?
Most of them remembered fighting in WW1 and did not want to replay it.
French were getting wet on the thought how Germans are going to fail if they storm Maginot Line.
