Isn't it better that way. This way the government is not dependent on the companies making their software. This will also prevent applications that the government are yousing to spy on them. As an added bonus you get more linux addoption, which is always great.

>Dotcom: I'm not involved in Mega anymore. Neither in a managing nor in a shareholder capacity. The company has suffered from a hostile takeover by a Chinese investor who is wanted in China for fraud. He used a number of straw-men and businesses to accumulate more and more Mega shares. Recently his shares have been seized by the NZ government. Which means the NZ government is in control. In addition Hollywood has seized all the Megashares in the family trust that was setup for my children. As a result of this and a number of other confidential issues I don't trust Mega anymore.

My PC on W7 just started to download Windows 10, without asking, without notice, I can't see in anywhere, but the disk space is getting flooded with something + CPU is at 20%. Fuck Micro$oft. How to stop it senpai? I deleted the 303shit in Windows Update

I do gaemz, so I need Windows. What is the most usable/compatible Linux? I am into Android a lot (kind of a developer) and I know the principles, how it works, where shit's at etc (Android is a type of Linux, right?). I will need some kind of VM/Dualboot for the Windows, when on VM, is the FPS lower thsn on standart installation?

Should I consider SteamOS, since most games I have are on it?

Serious discussion please.

How close to desktop GPUs do mobile graphics come? Is GFlops an accurate comparison?
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Its simply one of many tools to measure performance. To get a better idea of real world performance, you'll want to run a benchmark that will stress your cards as much as the games you play would.

Graphics cards don't always perform the same in all situations. For example, the gtx 690 will outperform a 780 ti in 3dmark vantage, but when you run 3dmark firestrike, the gtx 690's lower vram starts to show its age and falls behind in score.
>>
>>55439381
FLOPS means nothing from one architecture to another.
Its a theoretical figure derived from this equations
number of ALUs x clock speed x operations per clock
IE the Radeon 7750 has 512 ALUs, it is clocked at 800mhz, and it can perform 2 ops per clock. Hence we get 819,200 FLOPS or 819.2GFLOPs.

The caveat here is that it tells you nothing about how the GPU actually performs. It doesn't take into account how those ALUs are fed instructions, geometry performance, scalar throughout, pixel throughput of the ROPs, texturing performance, how the GPU handles memory intensive operations, etc.

Its basically used as a marketing bullet point, and can only roughly compare two GPUs in the same family. Beyond that its useless.
>>
>>55439477
>>55439445
So how can we really compare cross platform GPUs?

I'm curious just how far behind phones are compared to laptops and desktops for graphics performance

Its sad really. With all it's flaws, BB10 was the best mobile OS, for actually getting shit done.

And even if you disagree with that, you gotta admit that the mobile landscape is a sad place, with no competition and no real innovation anymore.

But at least we will get updates, until next spring or so.

When did OS10 come out? 3+ years of updates for a phone, that is 100 times as much as the average android phone gets.

25% chance to answer correctly.

you have 4 options.
But two of them is 25%, which means the correct answer is 50%, and there is only one option which says 50%, so the chance of selecting the 50% is 25%,

Why have web dev faggots never heard of the idea of graceful degradation? What manner of narcissism spurs them to break the ENTIRE FUCKING SITE just because you don't want to spend an eternity waiting for their clickjacking jerkoff code to run?

when actual programmers make fun of webdevs, it's not because your job is hopelessly easy. it's because your job is hopelessly easy and you all still fucking suck at it regardless

>"Why have web dev faggots never heard of the idea of graceful degradation?"

Because we live in an age where the average consumer changes their web browsing device/software every 1-2 years. In a timeframe that could be described as "overnight" when taking the entire lifetime the internet has been around for into account, we went from the Desktop PC being the internet device of choice, to the mobile browsing winning by a landslide. And legacy user be damned, if they think for a minute bean counters and focus groups care what they think after they find a website they like the look of. It's far easier to tell 15% of your visitors to get another browser, than to tell your entire marketing/image committee to fuck off, you don't want to transition the site/company to a newer layout.
