Nvidiots will somehow defend this and then turn it into an AMD sucks thread. I predict this train derailing soon.

I am in the market for a new computer chair. I am not willing to go over $500, but I do want to invest in something that will last and be comfortable since I spend most of my time in it. I also require the ability to cross my legs comfortably.

Does anyone have some recommendations? Also, I am located in Australia if that makes any difference.

Why is KDE so ugly, slow, and shitty?

I've tried to give it a chance so many times. With the advent of Plasma, which actually looks somewhat okay, I gave it another chance, and it was so fucking painfully slow.

I mean I know at this point with GNOME 3's retardation it isn't much better but seriously, what gives?

You probably used a server OS like debian or any other one based on it. KDE is shit with non recent QT versions, and with recent i mean at least Qt5.6. The only other difference can be propetary graphic drivers, since they tend to fuck shit up beyond measure everytime the plumbing is changing.
Seriously, get free as in freedom gpu drivers and most "slow" woes will vanish since they are actually integrated into the ecosystem and make use of kernel features and i'm not talking about intel here because they do their own nonstandard shit too.

Stuck in a pickle with my PC build. Being Australian, GPUs aren't coming cheap. I'm torn between one of the new 480s or forking out cash for a 980.

Are the new 480s good? That whole power issue was just a random coincidence, yeah?

I'm not the smartest with this kind of side with parts. I know reference cards are the launch cards.

But usually how long is it until non-ref/aftermarkets come?
>>
>>55438277
Your using mobos that overclock? Then its a non issue even if the power exceed and generate more heat.

The one that burned his mobo was using some cheapass ASRock.

Get the 480

Hey Guys
I just want to ask if a jump to Linux from Win 10 would be viable option for me. I mainly game, browse here and watch Youtube.
48 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>55438188
browsing will work

gaming depends on the kind of games you like. look up WINE and steam games for linux.

youtube will work mostly. it has serious issues in firefox on ubuntu for me, but works fine in chromium.

of course, just start with a dual boot, so you can revert to windows. if you find yourself switching back more than twice a week, linux is not for you. because at some point you'll want to be productive or do something useful, and it will suck.
>>
Linux gaming is a meme and will always be unless they fix mouse sensitivity for starters.
>>
>>55438218
Wine is a meme. AMD cards will give you slideshow experience.

Can we talk about fraud emails, specifically those of the classical Nigerien Prince sort of style or it's derivatives? I just got my first letter going over this and I've been looking into it and the whole phenomenon is really interesting. If you want to look into it you can start with the keywords in the subject line, it's a pretty well documented thing that's more complex than you might think it is.

Have you ever received any before? What did it say? What did you say? How did they respond? Any of you try reporting them to the proper authorities?

If you want to know what mine read and how the whole thing went down you can see here, since I don't feel like making several posts explaining the situation.
http://pastebin.com/4s0hhfQf
There's a typo there, the second email is [email protected] I swear I ran that through a grammar check, but I guess that space got geeked in translation or something. Probably other typos, but whatever.

Any suggestions on how I should reply? I fully intend to follow this rabbit hole as far as I can and fuck with these people as much as possible, so long as it doesn't entail any exhaustive effort or investment on my part.

Sorry if this isn't really a /g/ topic. I figured it's email so it's close enough. If you think this belongs somewhere else let me know and if the thread goes down I'll try it again there.

Had an office job once doing damage investigation. Talked with the IT guy and he explained the email filtering a bit. Every now and then I would get an email from someone whom I had been emailing written in the same style but asking for information that was private.

I would let the IT guy know and it was usually poor security on the other paties part. We even cut an insurance client because we lost close to 200,000USD after years of their servers being hijacked.

If it is automated prince of x shit it is caught in the filter. Else if it is a more coordinated and specific strike there were plenty of dumbasses there that just push pencils and would gladly send account info to third parties even after receiving an email from IT explicitly informing them that a client had been exploited.
>>
>>55438162
What did the more coordinated stuff look like? Did they just try really hard to make it seem like generic emails between different parts of the business asking for information, or what? Did they go after specific targets that seemed more vulnerable, or what?

Dont use the ratings, just limit the price, add some specs if you want and buy the laptop with best processor for that price

>In a follow-up to previous criticism of his former company, earlier today Dotcom took another shot at Mega. That was quickly followed by a somewhat surprising announcement.

>“A new site is in the making. 100gb free cloud storage,” Dotcom said.

>Intrigued, TorrentFreak spoke with Dotcom to find out more. Was he really planning to launch another file-sharing platform?

>“I can say that this year I have set things in motion and a new cloud storage site is currently under development,” Dotcom confirmed.

>“I’m excited about the new innovations the site will contain.”

>When pressed on specific features for the new platform, Dotcom said it was too early to go into details. However, we do know that the site will enable users to sync all of their devices and there will be no data transfer limits.

>For the privacy-conscious, Dotcom also threw out another small bone, noting that the site will also feature on-the-fly encryption. Given the German’s attention to security in recent years, it wouldn’t be a surprise if additional features are added before launch.

>“Eight years of knowledge and a long planning period went into this. It will be my best creation yet,” Dotcom told TF.

>A potential launch date for the site hasn’t been confirmed but the Megaupload and Mega founder is currently teasing the hashtag #5thRaidAnniversary, suggesting that his new project will launch in January 2017, five years after the Megaupload raids.

>Of course, we also asked Dotcom if he’d decided on a name for his new cloud-storage site. Typically he’s playing his cards close to his chest and leaving us to fill in the blanks, but he hinted that an old name with a big reputation might be making a comeback.

>“The name of the new site will make people happy,” he told us.
