It could be too costly and too long for them to correct the production lines. Phones have about an 8 month release cycle now days, if they have to spend another month fixing the production lines and then getting more replacements out we would be looking at only like 4 or 5 months until the next Note release anyway, and they have preparation for the next Galaxy coming up.

Let's take another device with a design flaw for example. It doesn't burst into flame, so it isn't that bad.

The iPhone6 has a known issue with the Touch IC that will eventually affect pretty much every single device that remains in operation. People have been charged $300-400 to replace their phones because of this issue because Apple can't repair it, only to have it happen with the replacement devices too.

Mine still charges to 100% with T-Mobile, unless 100% is actually 60%? Only thing I get is the warning pop up when I plug it into a charger. I've had it charging in direct sunlight while driving almost every day and have had zero issues. Probably the best phone I've had so far. Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?
These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren't shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.
Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us.

If they've found either to be the case, they may have simply taken gamble that the replacement wont blow up, since its a very small change it will happen anyway. It's not just that it is easier to replace them. The construction of a removable battery is different to one that isn't made to be removed. It is more rigid which makes it less prone to impacts affecting it and other things that may cause it to fail.
