Britcuck here
With the new 'Investigatory Powers Bill' coming into effect very soon, how the fuck do I remain as anonymous as possible online? I have nothing to hide but it's still very fucking spooky
I get the feeling a simple proxy website ain't gonna cut it and I'm not a l33t in any way
Use tor for porn, the rest shouldn't be a problem.
Can you move out of the country? If I lived there, as soon as that law goes into action I would get the fuck out of there.
You could probably write a program that opened up websites randomly to render whatever data they collect on you incomprehensible though.
What is the best antivirus software out there?
common sense 2017
Obviously common sense is a great start ..
If you rly need an antivirus tho, kaspersky's pretty good imo, if you set it up right.

>$1500 for a meccano set
yeah no
Where do i start?
I'm the type of person who likes to learn from the lower levels first and building up instead of using something like unity.
I'm not familiar with the math involved either. I don't have high expectations but can someone point me in the right direction so i could make a shitty pacman clone by the end of a month or two by myself?
Pick up a game engine, like Game Maker if you want to dick around. Game Maker is pretty easy to use and has been used in a quite a few indie games.
Obviously, it's still a limited tool and many devs eventually go on to something else, but it's a good teaching tool.
Game Development is all about imitation and theft. The latter is when you're at your peak, when you're considered professional.

Then start with logical circuitry

This might be right up your alley
ok, i have not seen even one post about startpages in browsers even though its the most common thing of all the users here on /g/
TL;TR
post your startpage - no cleanup
No Speccy thread so here is one. Helps others find/validate upgrades
I built my desktop back in 2012 and haven't touched it since. Only just now is it starting to become noticeably weaker with newer games.
I'm really only interested with 1080p at this point in my life and along with a much better case (Enthoo Pro) and screen, I'm going to buy a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB - Boost clock 1873 MHz
Is this a good buy for my needs and should I upgrade anything else? I based these decisions mostly off of Logical Increments.
Here is the screen I'm looking at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UFCVKI4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Thanks for any input guys.
Just upgraded some stuff. Going to get a better MOBO asap.
First build, cost about $640, took one of the ssd(s), and the 1tb and 500gb hard drives from my old pc. I might upgrade to 16gb ram someday.

Currently using Virtualbox. Not a huge fan, but its what my professor uses. Want to ditch it pretty bad though as it runs horrendously slow.

QEMU using KVM. Because the performance is excellent and lazy fucks like me can do all the configuration in the script used to start the VM rather than deal with a million config files.
Also the PCIe passthrough support is good for muh games.

VMware
Hello Anunnaki.
I've got a problem with my old ass PC. It is old and weak, agreed, but it started to stutter one day I turned it on. I used it for basic things like watching YT or browsing news websites.
I cleaned it with CCleaner. My browser is Mozilla Firefox with AdBlock Plus plug-in installed.
My PC specs:
Windows XP 32 bit (kek XD)
512mb RAM
AMD Sempron 1,6ghz
ATI Radeon 9550
I know it's weak as hell and even older than devil himself, but as I said - I didn't have problems before. I gave it to my grandpa and he had no problems until one day he turned his PC on and noticed that searching things via Firefox causes lags (via IE as well).
It also stutters while watching random YT vids and it doesn't matter whether my grandpa watch 'em on 480p or lower qualities.
Any ideas?
Install a lightweight Linux distribution and also don't use Firefox.

It goes on sale regularly for $119.99 at newegg. Shop around and you can get legal copies for cheaper.
No, kill yourself or install gentoo.
If you're willing to commit 30 hours of your life to getting updates sorted out. It's a clusterfuck of despair to update.

What was the reasoning behind splitting "Program Files" into "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" in the 64-bit versions of Windows?
>>57694151
so you can have a 32bit and 64bit version of the same program at the same time
a stranger thing is how "system32" is where 64bit libraries go in 64bit windows, and 32bit libraries go in "syswow64", and both kinds of programs believe they're accessing "system32"
To easily separate 32 and 64 bit applications.
It's just a way to split up 32/64.
On Linux:
32bit host: lib/
64bit host: lib/
64 with 32 support lib/ and lib32/
On Windows:
32bit host: Program Files
64bit host (always has 32b support): Program Files and Program Files (x86)
OUKAY niggas, maybe someone who knows better how web works can help to understand this shit
