Clearly you're doing something wrong.
Is the amazon fire a good tablet for mom? She mainly browsers the net, watch videos on youtube and netflix and checks her email.
at $35 that's a steal desu senpai, ngl

get the hd8 dude
>>57691735
The Fire HD 8 is a great tablet. I highly recommend it. I paid $90 for it and it is now $60. Get it!
>16 GB of RAM is too much they said
>It isn't even enough
kms for falling for the /g/ memes. at least my gaming laptop supports up to 64 GB of RAM so I can just buy some sticks and upgrade it.
Has anyone else fallen for any dumb autist ramblings?
>>57691635
16GB is too much for the average user, but I guess since you like to apply filters to noise then it won't be enough.

Yo /g/'s
I'm building a computer for my brother, here's the specs. Any suggestions or does this seem like a solid setup for 1080 gaming?
I wouldn't have gone for the i7 but he says he wants one.
I bumped the Graphics card up to the 1070 after he said he wanted the i7 so not to have any bottlenecks.
Don't build him a PC. He will end up bitching at him whenever something goes wrong -- hell, he even wants an i7. You only need an i7 if you're rendering video. Tell your buddy to do his own research on the PCMR wiki.
>>57691629
Install gentoo on it.

Why is /g/ so obsessed with calling everything a botnet and throwing hissy fits?
Don't you realize you're doing that on the biggest botnet of them all? Yes, the internet itself is now a botnet and there's nothing you can do about it. Your ISPs record your browsing data, using a vpn won't help because the requests to and from your pc still go through your isp.

give me freedom or give me death, motherfucker
if you don't care, why do you care i care
That's nice, retard.
Not everyone lives in the United Kingdom you paki.
I use proper opsec, and i don't even have an op. Run a VPS in Switzerland and setup a VPN. Ain't got anything to worry about as long as you use HTTPS, and 80% of websites use it nowadays. A few forums i use don't have it, but hell, all i had to do was PM them Let's Encrypt.
4chan isn't a european website, it's a multi-culture website, mr. Paki.
Serioulsy. why is this shit allowed?

>Surface 3 hooked up to monitor for computer needs
>Xbox One hooked up to separate monitor right next to it for gaming needs
>Lumia 920 for phone needs
>All one ecosystem that works together seemlessly
Why aren't you using the best ecosystem, /g/?
Honestly, yeah. Windows is the only one to have really understood the whole "one seamless platform" thing. You get one operating system, and you get it on your phone, your tablet, and your desktop. When you're on your desktop your phone just pushes any notifications there and you can use messaging from the desktop just like it's a phone. The tablet can run desktop-level software without any trouble, because it runs a full desktop OS. If you have a separate desktop then you can just set your tablet to act as a secondary monitor without any trouble.
That shit is nice. It's one of the only systems where I feel like I'm using something genuinely futuristic and convenient.
>>57691518
Apple has been doing this for years. It's about time Microsoft caught up.
>>57691518
First off, I'd like to mention that Apple nailed down message forwarding to desktop-class OSes years ago.
The problem with Windows Phone is that it doesn't have developer support. It can be the greatest operating system on the planet and die in the vine from lack of interest.
Also, I notice you emphasize how well the Surface can run desktop software, and it's true that the Surface runs desktop software very well. But what about tablet software? Realistically, how practical and user-friendly is a Surface with no keyboard attached? Not very, I'd venture, since the same issue afflicting Windows Mobile applies to the desktop Windows app store, resulting in few competent touch-optimized apps of the caliber seen on Android and iOS.
What I'm trying to say is that I find it disingenuous to call the Surface computers "tablets" at all. Technically, sure, but who's actually going to use it that way? And how often?
Hey guys, I recently got an X61 for $60 and replaced the following parts.
Hard drive -> SSD
RAM 2GB -> 4GB
battery replaced
Keyboard replaced
Heatsink and fan assembly
I went ahead and installed Antergos with KDE.
I'm fucking loving this laptop but the top has been abused quite badly. So I've bought some carbon fibre wrap for the lid but I'm having second thoughts. What do you guys think?
Here's the lid
Here's the wrap.

Why does Microsoft Windows™ only work on Intel/AMD/VIA?
It's not coded in assembly so what's stopping them from just recompiling it for ARM?
>>57691072
If you have to ask that question, you don't know the difference between Intel/AMD/VIA/ARM
Try harder to look smart next time kiddo
>>57691095
VIA does ARM too.
My point still stands though, you have Linux on almost every mainstream platform.

Are chinese smart phones good enough?
does anyone on /g/ have any experience with them
okay so since 2016 iv gone through a samsung s6, and an iphone 6 plus
both had faults after 4 months of use, had basic phone issues with (battery, simcard) etc
im thinking about just getting a $100 chinese smartphone to browse, text make calls with
how durable are these things will it last more than 4 months before i have to take it back
You're just asking for trouble. Exploding batteries, breaking screens...
Just save, buy an iPhone7 and move on. Really, oinstead of buyuing two chinese phones per year, some operators allows you to RENT it, which is cheaper.
>>57694059
were there always apple shills in /g/ like this? or is it the influx of redditors bringing with them apple normies?

So the Sennheiser HD 598 CS are $100 now at amazon, how they compare to the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x ?

Ok so I'm new to the whole graphics card game, and I'm looking for a decent card for around $100. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a GeForce GTX 750ti SC. There are some deals online right now where you cna get one for about $90-$100. Should I get one /g/, or is there a better alternative for the price?

neither
even a rx 460 is better at the same price
