Should I get used i5 2400 for 70$ + P8P67-M for 70$ and brand new GTX 1050ti? Got psu and hdd already. Will it be k?

we don't know your old specs and demands
>>58026148
old species - literally y580 with i5-3210m and gtx660m, 8gb, ssd. I want to run some new games smoothly, but mostly internet + programming stuff.
How do we kill the Android monopoly for smartphones? The user should be free to install an operating system of their own choice.
>inb4 custom roms
Relies on exploits and level three hacking tricks in order to be installed so doesn't count and even if you get it to work they're still based on Android. It also, for some illogical and capitalistic reason, voids your warranty.
>inb4 linuxdeploy
It runs in a chrooted enviornment inside Android so you're still forced to use Android.
We don't
>>58026088
Apple
>>58026088
It voids your warranty because its an OS that wasn't tested by the fabricator and you can easily brick your phone with the installation process. Not because of illogical and capitalistic reasons.
You would rather have every phone maker develop their own shitty OS, intentionally making it incompatible with everything else in a tentative to create their own monopoly over their users, like it was in the past?
Is Linux Mint good for an all round use laptop?
Compatibility is key without trying to look like a complete noob.
I just want something with all the packages installed and Java works on it.

You misspelled gentoo
>>58025979
it's good anon, it't all you need

Or Solus or Fedora or literally any fucking distro.
What /g/ thinks about these books?
Want to learn coding some simple (web, android) games, would /g/ recommend these books?

They couldn't pay me enough to read it
Don't be a retard, pirate all the books you need, don't buy unnecessary shit
>>58025916

>rpgmaker
Not a single book about how to make actual games that don't suck.
Does anyone have the screencap of an exhaustive post from here that talks about privacy? It mentioned terms like "the rules could change" and it tried to combat the argument of "I've got nothing to hide"
You realize like 70-80% of the anons here who post "I've got nothing to hide" are just baiting, right?
I've got nothing to say.
I literally have nothing to hide. it only becomes damaging if people use my sins to blackmail me, but why would that ever happen? what would there motive be?
Yellow, /v/,
What program do you use to make a spec screenshot like pic related?
Microsoft MSN messenger
Print screen + mspaint

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

My T420s arrived today and it looks completely new. Has not any sings of wear and tear.
But, it makes a squeaking noise. I think it comes from the fan. Is this normal and can I do something? Don't know now it it will annoy me.
I'm putting money away for the 2017 models. Hopefully we will see a Retro Thinkpad with a classic keyboard.
Is Dell Latittude E7240/E7440 good?
Fingerboxes are technology.
What fingerbox does /g/ have?
I have pic related. Pretty happy with it.

Why aren't you using Windows Server 2012 R2 as your desktop OS, /g/?
>server tier performance
>no bloatware
>no botnet (no cortana)
>supports up to 4 TB of internal memory
>up to 64 10-core processors = 640 cores
>desktop is default interface
>boots way faster than any other windows
>stability that makes Linux users question their faith
>more practical than dated Windows Embedded memeOS
>no botnet (no cortana)
Cortana is one part of the botnet. 7 has botnet. You are a botnet too.
Also I use Windows for games only. How is this better for that purpose?

Not really, it still takes some time to initialize some servers stuff

Ubuntu GNOME partially upgraded gnome to 3.22 while keeping core gtk at 3.20
Not a good idea.
Reminder that if you're not using Arch with testing repos enabled you don't belong on /g/

But all repos in Arch are testing. The end users are the testers.
Daily Bot Thread #001
Let's start a daily bot thread, guys.
Here we talk shit about muh privacy and teh botnet. This seems like a good idea as almost everyday there is a botnet based thread, so might as well make it a thing.
Is ubuntu gnome safe? I know unity started implementing some sketchy amazon bs, but gnome then? They're very related, but I haven't heard anything bad botnet wise about gnome.
Still waiting for Intel to drop the NSA botnet that is AMT.
Nice thread
What do you need to write your first baby botnet?
C++ is enough for everything?
Where do you set your babyfirst CQC? How do they choose servers and irc channels that let them get away with it?
Grado ducks edition.

/hpg/, I'm confused.
I don't get how """""""7.1""""""""" surround works for vidya and headphones. Like, the game gives your drivers 2 outputs. How the fuck does the 7.1 software/driver determine what is in front/back/up/down?
It seems pointless to me. If the game itself gives virtual surround then you don't need drivers, and if it doesn't, then the software has no way of determining direction other than left/right, right? The surround driver doesn't magically step between the game's audio engine and it's outputs, right?
The only real circumstance where I can kind of see it working is if the game has an option for proper 7.1 [as in proper 7 channel home theater set up] output, but not virtual surround, which is fucking stupid.
