i imagine there's a small opamp in there too, or amplification is handled on a combined chip or something?
you probably wouldn't want to connect it to an amp and amplify a signal twice, would you?

16.10 is out since october, m8 :-)
Remind me again why Stallman is the official mascot of /g/ when Thorvalds is infinitely more based
>>58026568
Because Linus actually accomplished something, whereas Richard half-assed something and then tried to latch onto someone else's success ("What you call linux I have taken to calling GNU/linux" etc).
Which of the two sounds like the more typical /g/ user to you? Hint: it's not Linus.

Someone is still hoping Hurd will, somehow, materialize.
/Thread
The one that came with my phone. I don't want poorly designed Pajeetware on my device.
Stock because the one time I tried out CM it bricked my phone. Tried to reflash stock ROM but still wouldn't boot. At least I was able to wipe twrp, lock the bootloader and remove root so I could lie it was caused by a factory reset and have the repair covered by the warranty.

Music tech thread, since /mu/ is for teenage gossip and Korean jiggle dancing.
I'm looking for a digital piano, but I need it to be small and light due to being a frequent traveler. Most are 88 keys and have some chunky stereo system in the back. Should I go for a usb-keyboard, or do these only have flimsy, non-weighted keys?
>>58026486
>but I need it to be small and light
Full size keyboard can't be small and all keyboards/synthesizers with weighted keys are heavy as fuck so you need to compromise somehow
>>58026586
I'd be OK with a 61 key keyboard, since I prefer the style from before 88 key pianos were used.
I will very likely not get my ideal keyboard, but I'll check out all the options and get the best compromise possible. Gotta have the weighted keys, tho.

You can remove the bloatware and disable the telemetry shit. And?

What a garbage OS!

>treats threads like processes
And what do you suppose is wrong with this?
>>58026354
Hi, welcome to OSs 101.
>>58026416
I've completed a 3rd year operating systems paper at university and got A.
For our 'big project', we extended Minix in some way, and the thing I implemented was multithreading, and I did it as lightweight processes.
You're going to need to provide an actual argument.
Alright you techno-wizards, how do you pirate on your computerwands?
walk the plank
idk but it sounds hella badass
>>58026302
"pirate on your computerwands" means jerking off, right?
Well I like classical music and vanilla softcore porn.
How fucked is the Linux desktop /g/? It's starting to feel more like Windows every year.

Except L*nux has never offered a nice, seamless desktop experience and compatibility.

>If you run a mainstream distribution of Linux on a desktop computer, there's a good chance security researcher Chris Evans can hijack it when you do nothing more than open or even browse a specially crafted music file.
All you need to do ischmod +x xploit.mp3
mplayer && ./xploit.mp3
and your whole system crashes. Check mate linuxfags.
>And in the event you're running Chrome on the just-released Fedora 25, his code-execution attack works as a classic drive-by.
In the event you're running a proprietary browser that isn't in the official repos on the experimental version of RedHats community supported OS he can use a code execution attack. Oh my!

Old thread: >>58020625
What are you working on /g/?
What should I code? I want something to work on but I can never find or think of anything compelling to me. The farthest I've gotten recently is simply a script that pulls all the images from a 4chan thread. And that was probably last year or early this year. Ideally I'd be making things all the time and getting better but it's not working out

Why Arch has the reputation to be hard to install? You only need to follow the wiki. Or did I miss something?
>>58026181
Because it's harder to do than other distros obviously.
>>58026181
Some people can't figure out how to properly install a DE
>>58026181
In the defence of those people, the wiki was recently updated to remove much of the useful outline from the beginners guide. It's harder than it used to be.
