How does /g/ make it's money?
I constantly see rigs posted here that are worth many thousands of dollars, yet in a lot of thread people often talk about how much of a neet they are, and revel in their introvert lifestyles. Is it all just autism bux and the bank of mum and dad?

How do people legit justify selling 30 dollar thermal paste man. It's fucking thermal paste. It moves heat from the processor to the heat sync. You don't need a 30 dollar fucking thing to do that.
Fuck these scam artists and these so called 'enthousiasts' who blow their money fruitlessly thinking its a 'better' product.
Thermal paste thread?

Nice, only thing I don't like about my laptop is that its 1600x900 instead of 1080p. How does the mobile 1060 treat you? does it keep cool?
built this machine over a year ago. bought more ram, upgraded the gpu, bought an evo 212 fan and overclocked the cpu over black friday. really love this build, didnt cost much and it runs pretty much every game perfectly.
really only need a new monitor, just cant be assed to upgrade. 1600x900 seems fine to me
Emacs +evilmode or Vim?
Just plain Emacs.
Spacemacs
>>58031671
Emacs is bloated. VI/VIM is UNIX standard.
Have you ever participated in the creation of cheats or bypasses for software/games?

But they do, anon.

why'd it take them so long?
>>58031599
oh wait, you're saying they used 3d transistors since then and are only making them in 14nm now?
Then why don't they use finfet in standard cpus?

You can only install the apps approved by daddy Apple.
If you write an app, you're not even allowed to run it until you pay the "identified developer" fee (100 shekels).
KickassTorrents is back from the dead!
Back in July, the world's largest and most notorious BitTorrent distribution site KickassTorrents (KAT) with millions of unique daily visitors was shut down by the U.S. authorities following the arrest of its alleged owner Artem Vaulin.
Shortly after the shutdown, a group of devoted original KAT staffers launched the Katcr.co forum in hopes of bringing back KickassTorrents to its former glory, in the near future.
Now, Katcr.co has launched a fully operational torrent website, which looks identical to the original Kickass Torrents (KAT) portal, TorrentFreak reports.
Note: In case the new KickassTorrents website does not immediately load, give it a few tries, as the site is experiencing a massive surge in traffic.
Launched today and located at KATcr.co/new, the new Kickass Torrents site starts with a clean user database while many members of the original staff are back on board, including its dedicated uploaders.

>It's the year of the Linux desktop getting pwned. Chris Evans (not the red white and blue one) has released a number of linux zero day exploits, the most recent of which employs specially crafted audio files to compromise linux desktop machines. Ars Technica reports: "'I like to prove that vulnerabilities are not just theoretical -- that they are actually exploitable to cause real problems,' Evans told Ars when explaining why he developed -- and released -- an exploit for fully patched systems. 'Unfortunately, there's still the occasional vulnerability disclosure that is met with skepticism about exploitability. I'm helping to stamp that out.' Like Evans' previous Linux zero-day, the proof-of-concept attacks released Tuesday exploit a memory-corruption vulnerability closely tied to GStreamer, a media framework that by default ships with many mainstream Linux distributions. This time, the exploit takes aim at a flaw in a software library alternately known as Game Music Emu and libgme, which is used to emulate music from game consoles. The two audio files are encoded in the SPC music format used in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System console from the 1990s. Both take aim at a heap overflow bug contained in code that emulates the console's Sony SPC700 processor. By changing the .spc extension to .flac and .mp3, GSteamer and Game Music Emu automatically open them."
What does "zero-day"even mean?

Maybe the 3rd or 4th post about this. Didn't worked on my desktop though and you can chose to not compile this crap at compile. This is why i love OSS.
