Why would they put NASA mission control in Houston in the path of hurricanes? Did they even account for a hurricane knocking mission control offline during a launch or crisis?
>>58118630
because climate change is a hoax.
why the fuck would they launch a rocket during a hurricane?
>>58118630
Are you mentally retarded or just a fucking idiot?
Just found this old friend from my closet collecting dust.
Status:
• Battery's dead
• Backlight's dead
• SuperDrive making funny noises
• Edge plastic chipping away
• Hard Disk is a measly 80 gigs and showing its age
What I can do:
• Get an aftermarket battery – which is the best one?
• Get a new Inverter+CCFL Backlight – already did, coming in the mail soon
• Honestly I don't care that much about the disc drive, can I just throw it away and replace with something else?
• Get an aftermarket plastic keyboard cover – do they exist?
• Get a small SSD
thanks for your help. no memes please

Why go through so much effort for what is essentially decade old hardware? Like

The answer is and will always be the current generation iPhone.
>install gentoo
>packages are more outdated than arch

Thank you for using the state approved Linux banner for this post! 500 HUF has been transferred to your Kolkhoz. :^)
People always say system admins should learn how to script and program, but what about network admins?
>>58118365
This pic...
>>58118365
but I know how to program.
I just don't want to.
> tfw too intelligent to write code
>>58118365
Network admins should learn how to route their wires properly.
What are you getting yourself for Christmas, /g/?
I'm cashing in on my employee rewards program, probably getting one of these.

Nah, I'd rather not be a retard and just continue using Winamp.
>>58118325
Learn a simply scripting language grandpa. I promise you will enjoy foobar!
>proprietary garbage
Please educate yourselves. I guarantee your computer is now part of a russian botnet.
I'd even take Winamp over it, since Nullsoft has a bit of an open source library heritage.
But yeah, try VLC or Audacious (has native winamp skin) are the only real two options.

I've been noticing for a long time that every single new language/framework tries to be as PC as humanly possible i.e. "Django Girls", "Women who Go", etc.
My question is, which language has the best community? By this, I mean which modern programming language has the most not-give-a-shit, fuck-pc community as of right now?
I've never been a huge fan of self-advertised "pure" object-oriented languages such as Java and Ruby. I've always leaned more-so to functional languages (Elm, Haskell, Elixir, etc.)
Any suggestions, /g/?
just find the one with highest amount of non-beta white males and you will have your answer.
You mean some sort of /pol/ of programming languages?
Plankalkül might be what you are looking for, it is not under active development anymore, but they are very anti-pc.
You can also use github and just look for 'bitch', 'whore' , 'nigger', 'faggot' and other non-pc words to for example find a subset of java users that hate niggers or whatever you are looking for.
>>58118477
You and your dubs are part of the problem.
Every language community is shit in its own way.
JS has the ultimate hipsters who can't live without the latest thing and break shit all the time.
Lisp has the adeptus mechanicus cultists who can't actually produce anything except internet arguments
C has old timers who can't ever fathom what it's like to work on anything big or high level.
C++ has turbo-autists who don't undestand how adding a bunch of complexities and 4 hours of compile time to gain 3 attoseconds at runtime isn't always better.
Python has people who can barely understand how a computers work and a plethora of scientists who can't be bothered to code cleanly or in a real language until it bites them in the ass.
Ruby just has horrible people who overlap between JS and python.
Haskell has academics who don't understand that their whole thesis isn't a form of documentation and that adding 3 new operators is only simple for the guy who invented them.
Java has wannabe architects who don't get that more layers of abstraction is almost always a bad thing.
I know you kids really like Gentoo. my question is, is sabayon Linux any good?
>>58118202
Its shit just like gentoo.

kso I have a Dell Insipiron and installed Linux, yet when I installed Steam that shit will not open.
there is a desktop icon, and when me clicks it, it shows up in taskbar, but the application will never open and will disappear from taskbar.
What do?
also, Intel cpu
>>58118189
Which distro are you running? If it's Ubuntu, try this askubuntu.Kom/questions/771032/steam-not-opening-in-ubuntu-16-04-lts
Same happened to me and the sorted it out
>>58118339

Fucking phone, I meant this*
>>58118189
Open a terminal, type "steam" and hit enter, and take a screenshot of what happens.
Running the command below fixed my steam but if you have a different problem it won't fix yours
find ~/.steam/root/ -name "libgpg-error.so*" -print -delete

Stupid frogposter.
Hello cousins. I'm from /pol/ and have come here to tell you about the insurance info wikileaks put ourt in the event that it is compromised and to be used as leverage to keep Assange alive. These files can potentially change the world I doubt /pol/ is pro enough to uncover these game changing files though.
Some say it's hidden in the blockchain but I don't know dick about computers.
>the thread
>>103965325
I retrieved some files from the blockchain. There's a script called jean.py, you can use it. Download Python 2.7 and some modules (pycurl at least), then open console and type:cd /path/to/script
./jean.py [hash] > output.file
Should work on any platform, but Linux is recommended for such serious business.
