have you tried putting your OS onto the ssd?

1) Get live cd/usb.
2) Connect both drives to computer and boot live cd/usb
3) Open terminal
4) Use fdisk to find the input drive (if) and output drive(of)
5) Run:

dd if=/dev/sdX of=/dev/sdY bs=64K conv=noerror,sync

as root where X is the letter of your input hard drive and Y is the letter of your output hard drive

6) Wait for forever and complain that there's no way of seeing the progress
7) Remove HDD and replace with SSD
8) Boot normally and expect the computer to act as though you didn't properly shut down.

It hasn't gone on sale for $100 yet so no.
