>some thinkpads are equipped with intel optane memory. this is optaneal

There is literally not point having Optane memory at this point. It has the worst starting release of any memory as it requires decent sizes before it really kicks in with the speed benefits but instead you get a shitty 16GB or 32GB.

What do FOSS developers usually do for a living?
The ones not employed by any company to do FOSS development.

Do they work as proprietary software engineers?
Do they contribute to free software only in their spare time as some kind of hobby?

Are there non programmers who contribute to free software?

Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, and your country if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

>Assemble your parts list with price comparisons by vendor and compatibility filter.
https://pcpartpicker.com

>Have a budget, but don't know where to start? This will recommend you a parts list based on price.

General Tips:
>Consider an i5 instead of an i7 if you are not a content creator
>Consider stock fan+heatsink for any i3 or locked i5 build
>Consider a B150 mobo for any i3 build
>Always consider an SSD for your build

>General build advice including chipset compatibility, power supply advice, Windows activation information.

Best SSD manufacturers? I am reviving a 4 year old Asus laptop with a ssd. Currently looking at Intel 540s 120GB (on a budget) which is 69$ Canadian.

Main reason is for indel quality / reliability / warranty.

Thoughts or opinions?

Attention fellow IRC shit-loads-lards:

It has come to my attention, by which I mean, one of my colleagues, by which I mean, another turbo-fat-lardass PM spammed me, that linux is too mainstream.

It's easy.

*tips fedora*

We simply kill the linux.

Now then, how do we go about this, since 4 years ago I was autistically-"ironically"-recommending it to my friends, who all have left me and have careers now oh god

*ATTENTION DO NOT SAY MY NICK IN IRC ANYMORE IT MAKES A NOISE AND MY PARENTS HATE THAT SINCE THEY DON'T KNOW IM HERE SINCE THEY "KICKED ME OUT" 10 YEARS AGO AND I AM IN A SECRET LOCKED CLOSET*

windows = 2mainstream
>10 years pass, explodes
linxu = 4mainstream
>20 years pass, explodes harder
BSD = 8 mainstream
>40 years pass

Graveposters only, a graveposter is something that I just made up, it's pro-turbo-bsd users who don't use 99.99% of software and "just wait" and suddenly I'm 80 now. Also I am banning you all from this chat.
