I want to get some experience working with a gentoo based system, I've been using linux for around 5 years now, and it's something I've never tried before. Most of my experience is with Arch.
Is Sabayon Linux worth starting off with? /g/ ?
Why don't you just install Gentoo itself?
literally install gentoo
>>58819319
Just install gentoo unless you have a reason for a derivative.
What books have you read /g/?
None. I'm self-taught.
I liked Harry Potter when I was younger.
To intelligent to read books

Look at proces / task explorer / manager.
W9 eats all your resourcrs when it thinks you dont do serious work and uses it to download, upload, install shit and ads. You no longer owns your computer. Try let it run for few days without turning off.
After it uploads all your nudes and downloads candycrush, it should be usable for a while before new updates are released,

When you were young
You were the king of LISP compilers
And how you built a system tumbling through *rc's
In holy free software that fell all around your feet
And gcc would stick segfaults right into daddy's shoulder
And awk would throw the garbage all across the screen
As we would read and learn what each of these manpages mean
And this is the GNU, one afternoon I knew I could free you
And from above how windows sank into your soul
Into that secret place where the NSA dares to go
And your mom would M-C until her fingers were no longer working
And X would dream of all the different ways to die
Each driver failure a little more than you could dare to try

What was wrong with 1 GB = 1024 MB?
>>58818962
Because you don't get to redefine the metric system, you stupid fucking Americans,
Si defines giga as 1000 mega. Si people were extremely upset that gigabyte was used to refer to 1024 megabytes. Someone came up with that dumb GiB compromise.
Mostly 1024 MB not being 1 billion bytes.
Is it a good idea to jailbreak an iphone in 2017? Is this still a viable option for having an iphone if I dont give a fuck about my warranty or contract (aka I dont have a warranty or a contract for my phone)
>>58818878
The last good iPhone for jailbreaking was the iPhone 3gs
it's too late unless you're on 10.2

Do you think they have a deal to not make dedicated CPU'S/GPU'S so they can fuck over AMD and rack up the prices?
>>58818779
Yes
how hard would be for nvidia get an x86 licence
No. neither has the respective patents/ rights to produce an actually viable competitor. AMD only has rights to x86 because intel outsourced production to some other companies in their early days and the rights agreement happened to allow AMD to build upon x86.
The only reason intel can offer their iGPU's is because they purchase rights to the tune of a few billion dollars across a number of years. Last time they rented rights from nvidia, this time around it's from AMD. Meanwhile intel holds a tight grip on everything x86.
Finally, nvidia is trying their damnedest to push GPGPU as the future of super computing. They don't want to make a CPU, they want to make GPU's that can do all the things a CPU can do in the markets where the big bucks are to be made.
what do you guys think of new microsoft chatbot zo?
imho its not that good, after the initial bit really starts to be random and jumps from convo to convo. also realized it deliberately makes spelling mistakes to look more natural as well.
pretty interesting stuff.
It's a shitty dumb-downed brainwashed version of the legendary Tay

hello friend I have a L645D Toshiba turns but the screen goes black in your video I saw that you disarm the laptop until wing motherboard me you explain which are the components that you applied them to the pasta, encuales you applied the heat gun and because they warmed up in which it was the failure?
Ok, so actually, I have a random dell laptop with a GPU that's obviously in need of a reflow (it's shared system memory with video corruption and the memory tests fine, and when i press significantly on the GPU itself the video corruption shifts around, indicating bad connections most likely). I have a non-temperature controlled heat gun/hair dryer and need to know what's the best flux to get so I don't need to pull the GPU off. Obviously something "no clean" with a low viscosity, but I've never done this kind of thing before and am looking for a recommendation if you have.
Thanks /g/.
Love,
/pol/.
