Gaming in 2017 is truly the worst.
I have to pick between a stuttering mess or a 8% lower average.
Can't you just give me a CPU which performs on par and doesn't stutter?
>>59221806
personally I'd pick consistent lower average over stuttering any day, but do as you wish.
>over 250 fps in OverWatch on ultra is bad performance
8% lower, but more consistent average with better support for future games.
PS4 and Xbox use 8 cores. Guess where we'll be heading
Why do social media platforms steal 4chan's memez? Are they not capable of creating their own?
The red pill anon is that twitter is right now more original than 4chan.
But that's a meme from nigger twitter, not 4chan.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

What makes retro technology look so comfy?
Why does no modern company try to copy this design?
>>59221422
>Why does no modern company try to copy this design?
It's expensive.
Larger enclosures, more parts, thicker walls, structural rigidity, ability to survive a drop it's all the corners they cut to enhance productivity, profit margins and also part of planned obsolescence - dropped it go buy a new.

The more I hear about this language the more I want to learn it. It seems that every time I ask about something in Rust, it turns out that it has implemented that thing in the best possible way (for a systems language with a minimal runtime).
But I don't want to learn another hipster language, I want to focus on becoming more employable and having access to a large ecosystem of libraries that I can use.
What do?
>>59220200
>But I don't want to learn another hipster language, I want to focus on becoming more employable and having access to a large ecosystem of libraries that I can use.
>employable
The trick is not to listen to /g/, in particular in this regard.
It doesn't fullfill one particular criterium of established langs: There isn't another implementation by another group. When in doubt just wait another two years and reevaluate again.
>>59220200
> But I don't want to learn another hipster language, I want to focus on becoming more employable
Then you don't learn Rust but Java or C++ or Scala or something.
>>59220253
> It doesn't fullfill one particular criterium of established langs: There isn't another implementation by another group.
There also isn't any market segment (you know, with companies making actual money off it and having interest in maintaining it) that uses Rust.
It's just a "nope" language same as John's academic prototype demo language, and a fancy logo graphic doesn't change it.

Why is Apple the only company capable of producing a good trackpad?
Because they cost more and that price is factored into "muh unreasonable premium" but other manufacturers don't do the same thing because they put all of the budget into making their specs look better on paper. The same is true of the chassis, etc. You'll find that people here miss this fact but then advocate for similarly-priced machines simply because they're not Apple.
