Hey guys have an issue with a PC I built about a year ago, two days ago it got BSOD while installing fallout New Vegas. I've system restored it and factory reset it and reinstalled the graphics drivers off of USB drive. Got it working ok installed fallout again played it for a while, turned it off, come back to it and bam BSOD again. It's really got me stumped as to why it keeps getting this error, it's currently working atm, any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Pic unrelated.

Is your bios being reset when you turn your pc off?
This could be happening due to a dead battery.

Read the error code and google next time
update out!

Check the catalog before making a thread next time, retard.

I recently built a pc and tried it out to see if everything was put together well. Without the hdd though. It hasn't arrived yet. Every thing seems to be in place but when I turned it in all I got was the fans twitching for a second and then turning off.
Motherboard: msi 970a-g43 plus
Psu: evga 500 w
Graphics card: geforce gtx 1060
Ram: hyperx 8gb
Fans: 2 corsair quiet edition
Processor: and fx-8350
Pic related? Cuz I don't see shit plugged in.
Anyway try a different dimm slot for the ram, since you only have 1 stick it's hard to ISO test for a faulty stick.
Make sure RAM is in and all fans are plugged in, dumbass

Is 2k a noticeable upgrade from 1080p? Or is it just a half-measure and you'd be better off getting 4k? I ask because with the 1080ti coming out I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2k 144hz monitor and I think the 1080ti is more than capable of handing it, I'm hesitant about going to 4k because I've grown really accustomed to 125fps+ on my current 1080p 144hz monitor. But if the resolution isn't that much more noticeable then I won't bother.
2560x1440p is a sweet spot for 27"
Yes it's a noticeable upgrade in image clarity from 1080p.
4K is overkill for 27" unless you have perfect vision and sit close to the monitor. Even then windows 10 DPI scaling is kinda ass, whereas 100% dpi scaling @ 27" 1440p feels just right.
For work, higher res = amazing. For games, I don't think it really matters. I'd rather play at max settings on a high-end 60" 1080p television than on med-high on a 4k monitor or something like that. It's kind of a toss up. I don't think 4k really matters for TVs and I don't think higher res but lower settings is superior to 1080p at max settings in most cases.
But, like I said, if you're using it for work or just general stuff, it's amazing. Never going back to 1080 for desktop/laptop use.
>>59226848
I do tend to sit closer and I currently have a 27" 1080p, I had a 34" tv up there before I built my rig and found it was too big, and 27 is the sweet spot for me if that is the sweet spot for 1440p I think I might invest.
What's the best image viewing software for Ubuntu? The default is gross. The best image viewing software I've used is JPEGView for Windows, is there anything comparable for Linux?
>>59226721
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Apparently Ryzen is sick for servers, those Nipples will be mighty fine.

Some production benches even by dual Xeons.
>From a pure performance perspective, the AMD Ryzen is more than just competitive, it is downright awesome. After having hands-on time at the AMD Tech Day, I hit publish on our Ryzen pre-order story then promptly did so for a personal system and a system for our DemoEval lab (ETA on that one late March 2017 as it has some benchmarks it will be running in the meantime.) In fact, I even pre-ordered a complete set of components for STH’s William Harmon since I thought he would love the platform. We are going to have full power numbers once we get them in our standard test beds and into the data center.
>The true power of the Ryzen 7 1700X platform for STH readers, aside from gaming hobbies, will be replacing non-mission critical workstations with better hardware. If you are one of the Silicon Valley startups with a cluster of cheap Core i7 systems in the office or a set of AWS build instances constantly chugging, Ryzen is going to be worth a serious look. Likewise, there is a large segment of the dedicated server hosting business that today utilizes Core i7 chips. Given the choice between a Core i7 quad-core model and a Ryzen eight-core model, we would go with Ryzen.
And look at that voltage at 3.3GHz, a frequency a lot higher than what 20+ core chips use nowadays, the perf/watt is phenomenal.
>>59226509
8c/16t at 3.3ghz fitting inside of 60w when all threads are hammered to the max.
The Naples Opterons will likely be clocked somewhere around 2.5-2.7ghz which is remarkably high considering the core count.
The process clearly favors this range thats right in the sweetspot for enterprise SKUs.
>>59226562
Yeah, I've seen the 1700 using around 70w running povray, with great performance to boot, that much cheap and high FPU performance at such a low power is something I would have never expected, I honestly expected AMD to really give us a "okay" FPU, but this is completely outside of my expectations.
>>59226562
Some more power charts to help ya.
Has anybody here ever bothered to COUNT the number of pixels on their monitor? How do you know you aren't being ripped off and given a few less for the companies to save money?
literally every os counts it automatically
>>59226506
Yes, but how do you know that there isn't some firmware in the montor that tricks the OS?
If shadows can move faster than the speed of light, would it be possible to use shadows or the "absence of light" to send information at faster than light speeds?

>>59226291
No, because shadows are an absence of light. Plus, it would still be limited by the speed of the object being used to detect the difference.

Because they're idiots, that's why, same as those people that include JS to try and block right-clicking.
I look forward to the day when browsers send blank referers by default, like how they started blocking popups by default after all the faggotry in the late 90s and early 2000s.
>>59226242
This all adds up when you are a top result in a search. A single jpeg image could use gigabytes of bandwidth in a day vs 10kb placeholder.
>>59226319
>go to a lot of effort to have a high ranking on search engines
>upset that all the traffic you went to all that trouble to attract uses up lots of bandwidth

Try qemu. Graphical frontends exist.
