Asbestos only protects against fire plus it's shown to cause lung cancer
There's absolutely nothing unethical about blocking internet ads. Prove me wrong.
>>60358311
can't
>>60358311
There's absolutely nothing ethical about employing internet ads.
>>60358311
>>60359538
both correct
what's unethical is abusing ad placements to distribute tracking cookies/spyware or worse

What kind of stuff do you do on your computer? There's a lot to take in consideration.
Hey, first up, my knowledge in computers is limited.
I bought a computer from a company 8 months ago. Has a i7 6700k cpu in it.
Everything has run perfectly since today. This morning I booted it up, and the fans were loud. I loaded my usual apps. But after about 10 minutes, the fans wouldn't slow down, so I checked an app, image related. said my cpu was 94 Degrees.
I turned off my computer immediately. I turned it back on, I got the message "cpu over temperature error" press f1 to continue.
The menu said my cpu was 89 Degrees Celcius.
Turned off computer once again. Removed power cord. Started to clean the machine. I noticed that the CPU fan was cool, but the metal part that attaches to the cpu was really hot.
I didn't remove any core pieces, just the removable side cases, and dust frames.
Started computer once again. Check temperature. .47 Degrees. Woo, that must have been it. Watch for 20 minutes, just to see if theres any difference in temperature. No change. Load Chrome. Spike of temperature 93 Degrees. Close Chrome. still 93 Degrees. Has been for the past 15 minutes as I'm writing this.
People have been telling me, might be the Cooler, might be the CPU, might be the normal temperature for an i7, might be a virus.
I actually have no clue.
I have 24 months warranty.
Only 8 months have passed.

Reattach the heatsink to your nutz.
I hate "open sores" faggots
Closed source is better because anyone who has worked on highly complicated code knows that as soon as you start letting amateurs fuck with your code, it makes your life harder. Good projects are complicated beyond anything most of us could possibly contribute to, so why bother to make it open source?
It's closed source because they want it to work. It's not closed source because of some massive conspiracy. It's not close source so the dev can sell it via patreon. It's not closed source because he stole code from someone.
Good projects are closed source because they are complicated beyond what most people could possibly contribute to, and opening it up to everyone with a computer to contribute to is only going to make it worse, not better.
I know that nobody understands this, or wants to understand it, because it's the giant circlejerk that the dev is hiding something, but he's not. I know none of you will apologize when someday, as promised, the code is actually opened up and everyone sees that there's nothing to hide.
fuck off retard

Nice blog bro
Post FOSS recommendations ITT
Pretty weak bait
How are you fighting ransomware, /g/?
>>60357832
By installing gentoo
Common Sense® 2017
By reading about the SMB exploit 3 months ago, disabling SMB, and blacklisting port 445.
which is better? price don't matter.
FIGHT!

Both are garbage. Get a keyboard not designed for children.

So closing port 445 and SMD 1 fixes this shit right?
>blocked port 445 in windows firewall but still says its listening in netstat -a
what gives?
Win 7 Ultimate Edition (pirated ofc) master race here (all other Windows is cancer and Linux is dog turd, Macfags kys)
Also, Microsoft go fuck yourselves I ain't getting 10, it's shit and this marketing stunt pretend ransomware won't make me budge.
>have not updated since 2014
>thanks to everyone trying to be constructive and helpful in these threads I got what I needed fast
>even with all the trolls it's easy to get all relevant info from /g/ if you are a tiny bit tech literate
>blocked port
>pic related, installed the security update manually just now
Thank you guys.
Who else /comfy/ and /safe/ here?
Why did Intel put terrible TIM on the 7700K?

The thermal paste is excellent and made to last many years. You'll see no performance increase with other thermal pastes. The only exceptions are if you slam the ihs onto the die or use some metal based tim.
I hope is okay to put this here... I'm just trying to do a little marketing... Plus I think is a cool piece for your laptop.
Literally just use tape or something
>>60357412
Too small. easily lost

What the fuck is wrong with you
So, now that Windows is officially malware in every sense of the word, both literally and figuratively, which Linux distro does /g/ recommend switching to?
OSX
>>60357341
Xubuntu, it's like Ubuntu but without the shitty parts.
Ubuntu with GNOME or KDE
Fedora
Arch or Gentoo if you're autistic

Today, May 12th 2017, WikiLeaks publishes "AfterMidnight" and "Assassin", two CIA malware frameworks for the Microsoft Windows platform.
>"AfterMidnight" allows operators to dynamically load and execute malware payloads on a target machine. The main controller disguises as a self-persisting Windows Service DLL and provides secure execution of "Gremlins" via a HTTPS based Listening Post (LP) system called "Octopus". Once installed on a target machine AM will call back to a configured LP on a configurable schedule, checking to see if there is a new plan for it to execute. If there is, it downloads and stores all needed components before loading all new gremlins in memory. "Gremlins" are small AM payloads that are meant to run hidden on the target and either subvert the functionality of targeted software, survey the target (including data exfiltration) or provide internal services for other gremlins. The special payload "AlphaGremlin" even has a custom script language which allows operators to schedule custom tasks to be executed on the target machine.
>"Assassin" is a similar kind of malware; it is an automated implant that provides a simple collection platform on remote computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system. Once the tool is installed on the target, the implant is run within a Windows service process. "Assassin" (just like "AfterMidnight") will then periodically beacon to its configured listening post(s) to request tasking and deliver results. Communication occurs over one or more transport protocols as configured before or during deployment. The "Assassin" C2 (Command and Control) and LP (Listening Post) subsystems are referred to collectively as" The Gibson" and allow operators to perform specific tasks on an infected target..
>CIA
Couldn't care less. They only target nonAmericans.

Windows is dead to me now. This is the final straw.

The worst ransomware in history is due to Microsoft's incompetence. People will die because they won't be able to call cops, get surgeries, get 911 etc.
I think it's fair to ask: will this incident kill Microsoft and kill Windows?
>>60357255
>Is Windows dead?
Nope, they will blame the users for not updating to Windows 10.
>>60357277
Windows 7 got the patch too.
>>60357255
Shouldve gotten Windows 10.
Why didn't you listen?
