Last Friday I finally made an x-ray of my back because of back problems, thinking I had mild scoliosis. Welp, this is how my back looks. Anyone else with scoliosis? How does it affect your lifts?

Not me but my good buddy has scoliosis on par with yours. He lifts and works construction and it doesn't cause him too many problems besides some mild pain if he works too long, but he's totally fucked in 15 years.
Do whatever it takes to fix it now, before you're confined to a wheelchair.

In april I'm going to get an MRI scan and then I'll know wether I need to have surgery or not. I'm currently 20 years old, so I still have time to correct some of my back. But damn, sometimes I deel like i have the back of a 60 year old

I've been working out for 10 months and I have some noob gains; I've developed pecs, no more man boobs, I can actually see my triceps now, my arms are bigger, I've lost some belly fat, and the most significant improvement has been my back, its much stronger now. Also I've generally gotten stronger, I can do pushups, pull ups, and dips now, before I could barely do a single one. How ripped do I have to be until I can get a gf? It's not so much motivation as much as discipline.

It's like taking a shower or brushing your teeth before bed. I don't even really think about it.

I get real pumped up when I want to go somewhere though. I'm a big hiker, sometimes I'll take a look at the map and decide which National Park I want to hike in.

Best trip ever was hiking Florillon in Quebec right before dawn. Saw whales leaping in the ocean.

Next one will be on Grand Manan Island

When I bench, my left shoulder pops really loudly like a tendon is sliding over bone. I try to retract my shoulder blades all the way back but it still makes the noise. How do I stop this? Can I just substitute bench with pushups until my shoulder fixes itself?

Does it just make a noise, or does it hurt as well? If it's just a noise, I wouldn't worry so much. Pain would be where I start to worry. You can try pushups for a few weeks and see if it goes away or stop doing any horizontal pressing for a few weeks altogether and see if it goes away. It's not like you're going to lose your gains.

What is recomping? How does it work? Does it really even work?

I have a Bachelor's in Exercise Science and a Masters of Nutrition. Here are some weightlifting myths:

1. Split programs, aka working a muscle part once a week (chest and tris Mondays) is an ineffective training method for anyone not on steroids. Muscle protein synthesis lasts only 24-48 hours after a workout. This means that muscle has 4-5 days in the week where it's not growing at all.

2. The only way alcohol kills your gains is potentially disrupting your sleep patterns.

3. Unless you are a proper athlete BCAAs are basically useless.

4. Isolation exercises should only serve to fix lagging body parts. If you have been lifting for less than a year your entire body is lagging. Isolations are not a necessity for hypertrophy or strength.

5. "1g of protein for every lb of bodyweight" is completely false. There is no possible way your body can actually use all that protein. It will convert the excess into carbs. A better estimation is 1g of protein for every kg of bodyweight.
