I recently finished University and I'm taking a year off to relax, look for work, consider furthering my study and so on. I'm wondering how I should dress when I'm just bumming around town? Is it better to dress more casual or if I presented myself a little more formally? If it helps to know I'm male, live in a relatively small town, and I do a lot of walking (over 20k steps a day on average).

20k steps is what I do just in a workday lol. but that's a lot of walking if you're just on high street. I'd say "casual" unless by "casual" you mean "slob"

leisure time = casual
business time = more formal
just as a general rule of thumb. duh. such a no-brainer this one.
however a lot of workplaces don't even care about the formal aspect much anyway. so of course it's casual.

what kind of socks are you after?
Plain socks or something interesting?
How do you intend to wear them and with what shoes?
Personally, I always check out thrift stores to see if they sell any socks (as much as it sounds gross) because you can find some really interesting things there, and for like 20 cents a piece. Obviously wash them before you wear them.
