Yo /diy/.

Was wondering if there was any way I can hang my Soviet flag horizontally without using tacs to puncture the flag or buy some fancy flag clip.

Pic related.

I'm so sick and tired and creeped out by all the bugs and rats and other critters that live in my crawlspace. Also, the space under my shed has become a breeding ground for rabbits and other vermin.

What is the most powerful poison a layperson can buy? I want to kill everything that lives down there, so I want a good all-purpose poison that is simply incompatible with all forms of animal life. What are my best options?

Not exactly the greatest idea, but various gases are used for that and at least in some countries some of them are sold to normal people. Phosphine is one of the more popular options. A more diy option would be carbon dioxide, but I don't know how practical it actually is, since it's just an asphyxiant.
The thing is that you need to bag everything so that the gas stays there and you can't live in the house while you're gassing it.

I'd suggest getting rid of the rats with normal rat poison (or traps) if they're an actual problem and let the others be. Bugs will be back pretty much immediately in any case.
Then there's what >>995616 suggested. Not that it keeps bugs out, but at least they're not your problem anymore.

I found an abandoned hobo mudhut in the woods

For an experiment, I wanna do really primitive upgrades to it, stuff so cheap it isn't gonna get nicked. Stuff that a backpacker would appreciate if he spends the night travelling through.

Any advice?

Go to a car boot sale and pick up some old woodworking tools

Then start building shit at the location. Chair or two, Bed frame. Plug up holes. Put down a wood floor for starters

build a wood stove for heating and cooking, collect cans to tunnel the smoke out

find some cheap long candles and mount them around the place.

How would I approach making my own portable flag pole that's
A. Under $13
Then
B. Disposable
Or
C. Collapsible in a way that wouldn't make it a weapon

I'm going to a Trump rally this Friday and it's going to involve a lot of waiting initially so I bought a 3x5 Gadsden flag to wave while I fend off protestors at the gate, but once I get to the front of the line TSA will be confiscating any thing that could be a weapon, any ideas?

Tried google. I found similar but not mine. Anyhow I bought an 09 fifth wheel. What I thought would be the easiest project has turned into a pain in my ass. To save money I'm cleaning the blinds but replacing the valence. I got the side boards off. That was easy. But I can't take the top off without removing the blinds, can't figure out how to remove the blinds without removing the valence. Soo. Im stumped.

I didn't pay my electricity bill and they switched it off, how do I turn it back on?

They had to actually send somebody out to do the deed which makes me think I can switch it back on myself.
I don't care about them finding out because I'm moving apartments in just over a month

Pic related, the meter.

I need to create one of those simple heart monitor you can put on your fingers. All the information is right here in the link and the LabView code is already finished, but I'm an idiot so I don't understand how I'm supposed to make the hardware. Which is pretty stupid because you only need a led, a photoresistor, a shunt resistor and some type of filter which I don't understand.

Can somebody help me?

google potential divider for an ldr/shunt resistor circuit.

google passive bandpass filter
Capacitors pass AC and block DC, so if you have a capacitor to 0v it will short out AC effectively blocking it. a capacitor between input/output will block DC from reaching the output but pass AC to the output.
You should do a little research on signals if you want to learn more, look into fourier etc, all signals are made up of combinations other signals etc.

this is my favorite calculator:
(google okawa filter)(fuck you 4chan)
a bandpass is just a high pass plus a low pass so you can calculate the transfer functions separately.

the wavelength (color) of the LED is apparently very important so if you don't get a decent signal bare this in mind. there are many colors of red.

I work at a local pool as a lifeguard/pool cleaner.

Its currentlt overrun with these retarted giant mosquito eaters. (Crane flies whatever you want to call them)

Everyone says they lay larva in your lawn. But there is no lawn around the pool.

Is there somthing i can put up that will drive them away?

Eh, I thought as much, since I never heard them doing it. I don't find them annoying, and they're kinda cool. Some species' larvae is known as bloodworms which are excellent fish food.

Hey /diy/

So I'm going away on vacation for about a week in july and I'll have a number of plants (tomatoes etc) sitting on a covered deck that need to be watered at least once every day or two.

The best thing I can think of to water them while I'm gone is a pump on a timer that'll draw from a large reservoir (one or more 5 gallon buckets, I have a lot of vegetables in pots to water) to water the plants every set amount of time.

The problem is that my deck has no power outlets to power the pump and I have no windows that lead to the outside that I can run a cable through.

I live in a brick apartment building with what appears to be holes cut through the exterior brick for fiber optic cable insulation; two rooms in my apt have these wallplates that 'appear' to be heading outside onto my balcony that carry these cables.

Would it be feasible to put an extension cord through one of these to the outside?

Does anyone else have any good ideas as to how I could rig up a system to water my plants? I'd prefer not to ask a neighbor to come over everyday if possible.

2 liter soda bottle drip system?
>>
>>997374

I am going to guess this involves twisting tubing in such a way that water only comes out slowly?
>>
>>997369
I've used battery operated programmable hose valves (Battery Sprinkler Timer) before and the batteries for what I had lasted quite a while and would definitely last a week, seems mine lasted over a month if I'm remembering correctly.
If you can prop up the water reservoir you could rig up one of these to release water. You'd need a garden hose connection off of the reservoir to the valve then a manifold (PVC pipe and hose bibs) off of the valve that distributed water using enough smaller hoses to reach everything.
It would take some time to make and even-out the distribution with flow restrictors or different sized tubing.

Hey /diy/ I've only ever hear of one ship building school where I live, but I was wondering what kind of resources would be needed to make a ship the size of pic related.

I know there's some places that sell tall ships, but none the size of a spanish galleon, and if they are that size they are powered by a motor instead of having sails. Which I think would be best.

I was just wondering if you guys could tell me what you know about wooden shipbuilding.
Thanks.

Does anyone know of anyone that still makes old school power switches/buttons like this? I mean with the art deco styling, not just a beefy on/off switch. I'm restoring a few vintage machines that had all of their power switches replaced with standard light switches and they look like shit. EBay has them of course but they are $60+ and I don't have the budget for that.

Hi /diy/,

I'm interested in building myself a plasma ark speaker, but I'm a still rather new to diy.

I've done the basics like building my dad a 2ch usb powered speaker for his birthday, and soldering my own micro USB cables, but I don't know enough to follow schematics and stuff.

My family owns a pc repair shop, so I have access to cheap or dead atx and laptop power supplies for components.

Will I need anything extra?
Anyone know any super easy noob friendly guides?

look up someone else who has done and use their schematic. build it like they do and listen to their considerations

>>

>but I don't know enough to follow schematics and stuff.

Please stop. That's like saying you can't follow instructions by Ikea. Also "i don't know enough about x" is a shitty mentality to have if you want to learn a trade. If you don't know something, you look it up. You look up schematics, other people's experiences, order parts, put everything together on a breadboard, test and then solder onto a either a custom PCB or a prototyping board.
>>
>>994095
>Will I need anything extra?
The main component of every plasma speaker is a flyback transformer, they can be obtained from old CRT TVs and monitors. Also a power supply of 12 volts or higher and 3 amps or higher.
Anyone know any super easy noob friendly guides?
Not that I recall, but the easiest circuit you'll find with decent performance is the 555 based one, I'll post the schematic when I get home.

I highly recommend you try to play with discrete components and learn to interpret schematics before trying this, it is a very dangerous project.
