Where can I get particleboard in the UK? Need 33mm thickness and not sure where to look. Any advice would be good. Looking to build an extension to my desk.

This.
Most decent builders merchants will carry this in stock.
I've got a lot of records, but my favorites I'd like to hang up above my bed to fill an empty space on the wall.
>Place I'm renting won't allow any holes in the walls.
I've been using those velcro command strips for my poster frames, but I'm worried that the adhesive will peel at the vinyl sleeves and ruin them when I want to either switch them out or take them down altogether
Any ideas?
Also I don't have the money to dish out on $20 a piece mounts or frames

Landlord here.
The "no holes in walls" clauses are generally considered unenforceable and are almost always considered regular wear and tear in dispute resolution.
Excessive holes like hanging a hundred and fifty pictures, and using wall anchors all over will be considered excessive by most jurisdictions. But a couple nail/brad/etc holes to hang photos are fine.
why not just find vinyl sized plastic covers and velcro those so you can switch out the vinyls whenever. Kinda like yugioh card sleeves but huge.
Pic related is the roof of the back of my house. It was an addition many years ago. As you can see, it has no shingles and looks shitty. On top of that it leaks. What kind of roof sealant can I use to fix this garbage?
Here's the edge of the roof
Will pic related work?
>>1030401
You need to redo the whole thing, this time properly and cover it with shingles, your sheet is degraded in sunlight without the shingles, it will only get worse
TLDR you need to demolish and redo the entire roof
Hey guys. I'm about to purchase my first small tool for little projects in wargaming.
I've seen/read loads of stuff about how to use, how to make, how to get certain results, etc...
My question is: what should I NOT do ? Like, what is the best way to make sure my tool will live a long and happy lifespan and what can I expect to NEVER achieve with it?
Thank's for any help!
>>1030318
Don't use it to cut through rolls of wallpaper. Killed mine stone dead.
>>1030318
dont force the cutting discs into shit with the force of a thousand red hot blazing suns, let them do their work
Don't play with them in the bath/shower. Sure. it seems like a good idea to save time by doing work while bathing but it damages the tool and the electrical shocks suck.
Can I safely replace a 15 amp circuit breaker with a 20 amp breaker?
I have two bedrooms sharing one 15A circuit for some reason. With a window air conditioner and a computer in one room, and another window air conditioner and computer in the other room all running, the breaker will eventually trip. If any one of those devices is left off, it won't trip. Lights do not dim. Oregon state code requires at least 14 ga wire outside kitchens and bathrooms, so I would assume that's what's been used for most outlets. Not that I'm trying to draw 15A from a single outlet, it's spread out.
>>1030226
> Not that I'm trying to draw 15A from a single outlet, it's spread out.
There's probably a single wire running from the fuse box that branches out to the two outlets. You'd still be putting 20A through one wire.
>>1030226
No. Not without rewiring. There would be a huge risk of fire if you ever accidentally draw more then 15 amps.
>>1030226
We had a dumbass do this in our kitchen before we bought the place. Built in 1951, it had the entire kitchen, refrigerator and all, on one 15 amp breaker. So if you ran the microwave and the toaster at the same time it would trip it. The fuckwit previous owner put a 20 amp breaker in there and by the time we bought the place the wires coming off the breaker had had their insulation cooked off. He was not happy paying for that fix before we moved in let me tell you. He paid for the minimum and just put in another 15 amp breaker after fixing the wires (ie cutting the burned bit off). After a few months I got tired of it and ran two new lines into the kitchen light should have been done in the first place. One exclusively for the fridge and one for an additional outlet on the counter to take the load off the rest.Haven't had a problem since.

Ever tried looking for local lumber suppliers?
Maybe talk to a contractor and find out where they get their lumber?
Same. Anybody know where I can find some cheap as fuck tongue and groove? Doesn't matter if it's ugly, I'm just going to pain it.
4x12? 4x8? Son you're gonna need a real lumber yard.
I made a homemade headphone mount.
Now I need a mount for the controllers (thats not my PC).
Any ideas on how to easily create a mount for 2 controllers? Thanks
>I made a headphone mount
>It's just a repurposed bicycle mount
>>1030105
You didnt make shit, all you did was screw a premade hook into your desk
thats the point, im looking for something ez to mount controllers
I'm tired of all the containers in my house not matching.
Should I use these takeaway containers for almost everything? Will the plastic give me cancer or make me grow titties if I use it for holding food?
Is there some other standard size of container that I should use?
>>1030070
just looked online
some are microwave-safe and refrigerator-safe
I'll probably be using these for almost everything unless you guys have a reason not to
>>1030070
I have so many different containers that it bugs me, too.
>>1030070
They make glass tupperware if you're worried about your boys (as you should be)
Hi /diy/ sc/out/ here, need a quick advice/info from you guys.
I cracked my bicycle's front derailleur, looking at pic related(it's a shitty pic I know) do you think that if I apply a bit of weld to it, it will maintain its structural integrity? thanks
oposite side
image from the web so you can have a better idea of the product.
>>1029895
You mean JB weld OP? Depends on the stresses, and I'd guess the best you're going to get here are good firm "maybes" followed by arguments back and forth as to why or why not. Actual welding would be another story.
i had to kick my door down. this piece exploded out of it. how do i install it back in? need to do it before my landlord notices it
>>1029844
Gonna have to replace the jamb, and probably some trim. Im sure you did a lot of damage
No one has to kick their door down. You are a degenerate who was too lazy/drunk.high to get a locksmith in a pinch. Fuck you.
Hey /diy/. I'm thinking about taking up woodworking, what am I going to need and any tips? I'm an apprenticed plumber so I have some basic diy/hardware knowledge but not a ton about working with just wood.
>>1029718
Table saw and a drill press to start with. From there, get/make what you need when you need it.

After being a hobby wood worker for 10 years, I'd say avoid it. Almost everything I built out of wood I'd rather was out of metal. I ended up in a never ending loop of making more wood working stuff so I can make more wood working stuff.
I'd recommend a jig saw, an angle grinder and some sort of welding setup if you really wanted to get into wood working

I have always dreamed of owning an underground house. I am curious about the price difference of building underground vs. above ground.
From my understanding the biggest problems come from condensation forming on the walls due to temperature difference between wall and inside of house. This can be fixed by insulating the wall both on the outside and inside. Usually by using special fiberglass insulating panels on the outside, and maybe foam to seal concrete from inside of the house.
I also want your ideas on the issue of condensation, as well as ventilation systems for building underground in a cold climate, such as Colorado.
Don't need to worry about building codes and stuff, I have specialists for that.
The other thing that worries me is how to calculate rough pressure loads for the "roof". Lets say the house is 4ft under the dirt, a 10ft x 10ft room. Maybe I want it to also not cave in if a heavy mac truck happens to roll over it?
I'm guessing that due to the risk involved, it would cost a lot, but I'm curious to read what people say.
>>1029670
Everyone I talk to seems to think I am crazy
>why would you build underground
>your house is going to flood
To me you get the best insulation possible, so maybe the heating bill would be cheaper, along with not worrying about outside noises, airplanes, traffic, and so forth.
I really don't see why more people don't build underground
>>1029673
Yeah, bump.
sup guys, i bought these 2 arcade machines for hoping i could fix them but they look pretty bad, can is it pressed sawdust? or what is that called? could i just glue it back together or should i just scrap all electronics and make a new cabinet?
machine 2
machine 1
Standard full size machines like that, its usually 3/4 MDF for the cabinet
It doesnt take water very well, and it looks like there is a lot of water damage.
What kind of electronics and shit are in it?
Did someone throw new decals on it or something?
hey guys, this is probably the second cosplay ive put together, the first one im putting real effort into. Ive got all the parts but the fur on the shoulders. Ive been to michaels, the hobby lobby, and joann fabrics but no one seems to have what i need. Can anyone give me some ideas?
