How did you do it? What resources did you use? Did you have a set study schedule?
And for all you cucks, fuck paying for a college class, and I can't fucking move to Spain for a year. However, I do live in the south and work around construction sites and do occasionally come into contact with Spanish only speaking Mexicans.
I eventually want to learn more, but want to start with Spanish (south American).
took 2 years in highschool but that was 4 years ago and now it is broken basics in my head.

Hey! I taught my self English in my teens, with the use of flash cards and watching lots of television. It was mostly stuff aimed at kids in the beginning. I also read a lot which helped me grasp grammar, spelling, and pronunciation. Pbs , scholastic books and radio where my best friends. There was a point where everything just clicked and that made me learn a lot faster. Try duolingo its a great app im using to learn my fourth language.
>>
>>1027122
Hey same anon from first reply. Spanish is my first language so I can give you some pointers. Pretty much all Spanish is the same except for some slang and colloquialism. For the most part most spanish you will hear everywhere outside of Europe will be Mexican Spanish. South and Central American Spanish is the same only they call certain things a different name but they all adapt Mexican names for those few things in America. Think mundane things like In Mexico a blanket is a covija but in Guatemala a covija is a jacket. In either case they will know what you mean with Mexican Spanish since Mexican Media reaches so far.

If you want to learn Spanish then I would start with Immersion, Watch Spanish movies with English subtitle. Most movies have Spanish dubbed into them as a second language. Get Duolingo and use it Everyday, as a Spanish native speaker I can honestly say the Spanish portion is very good, once you have been using the app or something else for a few weeks start watching movies with Spanish subtitles on. Also get some Spanish Audio books Start with children's books then progress into novels. Start watching Spanish tv too, Stuff like Discovery channel in Spanish is great and you can probably get a kick out of watching novelas.

Hey, /diy/
I'm making a silicone mold of these:
http://bad-dragon.com/products/teenieweenies

The mold will be used for making gummy and/or chocolate candies.

I'm not exactly sure how to make a silicone mold that's non-toxic. I've heard of people using silicone caulk for that, but would it be safe?

2 things

1.) this is more a question for /ck/
2.) hardware store grade mold making medium might not be safe for food grade applications, and it isn't prone to telling you

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOA25X2/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=thkiofra0f-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00EOA25X2&linkId=626feb023eadb7999f5d11977cb041e8

I also suggest that you carefully coat your draco-dongs in PAM or other non-stick chemicals because the silicone may decide to stick...

like, a LOT of PAM....I'd tell you to dip the dongs in hot wax to be sure of a non-stick.

and as ever, no silicone based lubricants on the dongs

finally, to make a simple standing mold, steal some childs LEGOS and use the bricks to make the mold they seem to naturally resist sticking...

The average life expectancy for a modern cargo container ship is 25-30 years. If you sailed such a ship into the middle of the ocean and dropped anchor how long would it realistically last? Could the hull survive 50-100 years without repainting or maintenance? Could you do any kind of maintenance at sea without the use of a dry dock? Keeping in mind once the ship reaches it's final terminus it essentially becomes a permanent floating platform and hence the condition of the engine is semi-irrelevant.

Just so you know
you can't drop anchor in the middle of the ocean.

Maintenance would require you to pressure wash the underside of the ship to remove all the nasty stuff that can attach itself to the ship.

You can do all this without a dry dock but you'll need a powerful pressure washer, a really long hose. Also a good divers suit and oxygen tanks.

Other things you'll need are zinc "suicide" plates so they can take the electrical corrosion instead of the hull.
>>
>>1022861
This looks great, I'm reading through it now. Thanks!
>>1022865
I've heard there are paint jobs that are either poisonous, slick, or annoying somehow which help keep barnacles, etc off your vessel. I tried googling "zinc 'suicide' plates" and came up with nothing. Care to elaborate?

Does anyone have any tips tricks, techniques, or general knowledge of common mistakes people make when framing a wall?

I have a dry close to finished basement which is just one large open room.

I want to create a laundry room to hide my furnace and washer and all that, and next to it create a small storage and work room.

I would then just carpet the rest and it will be a finished basement.

It seems like a pretty straightforward process, tons of resources and tutorials on how to do it.
I just want to avoid any common pitfals

dunno about framing, but, make sure your basement is in no danger of flooding. or forget the carpeting. Done all that once too oft, enough.

that's probably a bad idea. the one on the left is li-po and the reight one is probably li-ion? either way, they charge differently, and both types of batteries are extremely volatile when charged incorrectly. get yourself a new battery of the right chemistry if you want to replace it.

Can anyone here fluent with electronics please give me your input.
How's the quality of this board? It's a 5v 2A usb adapter. Is it safe to use a few for a project? I've tested and they don't suffer much much voltage drop up to 3.5A, but they do burn out after 10 minutes. Is it safe to run it at 2.5A with a heatsink attached to the IC?

Will upload more images so you can see it better.

My project is basically an 18650 charging station. I'm going to have 5 of these, each wired up to 3 tp4056 chargers, letting me charge 15 batteries at once. They run at ~0.85A 5v each. Every IC will have a heatsink and there will be 2 low rpm fans to keep everything cool and quiet.

If it's rated for 2A and voltage doesn't sag, it'll be fine with a heatsink at 2.5A?

I want to build something that will last.

Hi /diy/ I have a little problem I can't seem to figure out. My 80USD RatShack Voltmeter keeps arc-ing when I attempt to measure the voltage on this schematic. The input is 17 volts from an old laptop power brick and I have the volt meter set to use the 10amp fuse side. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be helpful as I know nothing about electronics let alone designing power supplies. Thanks.

Really it's just two 7805's wired individually to 2 fans and a diode at the end on the ground side of one of the fans. The diode will act as a bypass when I want the fans to spin EXTRA fast.

>My 80USD RatShack Voltmeter keeps arc-ing when I attempt to measure the voltage on this schematic.

What do you mean, arcing? You mean an actual spark?
>>
>>1032741
Well the volt meter turns off for a second and then I see a spark on the tip of the positive lead.

Has anyone else noticed that exposed ceilings are a growing trend? All of the beams, pipes, ducts, wire, and conduit are wide open and usually painted the same color (unless codes don't allow certain things to be painted). I've seen this in restaurants, beauty salons, office spaces, and even classrooms. It's making it harder on me because now I have to make conduit look good in places that used to hide it.

How do you like this trend? I don't know what to think of it in terms of looks.

yes and they look shitty, also they tend to harbor a lot of dust and crap that can fall into your food as you eat unless properly kept clean.
>>
It's some hipster bullshit, like having apartments in old industrial spaces used to be. Yes it looks shitty. Yes it allows a lot more space for gobs of dust and shit to accumulate (and eventually fall from). But the masses are retarded, and it is "in" right now.
>>
I think it looks awful. I think that it comes from hipsters living in old brick lofts with retro fitted conduit and duct work. once people figures out retards would pay more money for a less finished look it took of from there.

Although I dispose it would make maintenance much easier.

I need to construct a decent box/platform to hold a cardboard standee and place some small 2 inch speakers into (similar to picture).

What wood/material is effective and cheap for this that I can still spray paint a design into? Is there a better material then wood?

>>
>>1032571
From what I have looked into, particle boards don't paint very well. At best you can get a can and a roller but that is more then I want to invest into painting.
>>
>>1032553
MDF all the way, it's got a nice weight to it which will help hold the standee up, it's very stable and smooth which makes it great for painting of staining, you can even paint it with spray cans if you take the time.

BTW who is the standee of?

Hey /diy/,

I saw this chair in a store the other day. I wanted it, but don't want to spend $600 on it. What skills so I need to learn to make my own? How would you go about making it? I was thinking that i'd make a pine and plywood frame and then use thin aluminum for the outside, and just use faux leather/pleather for the seat.

What skills do I need for this? any tips?

It might be easier to just buy a second hand leather armchair and then "fit" the metal to it rather than try to build one from scratch.

BTW $600 is actually pretty cheap for a designer piece of furniture, unlike Ikea shit you won't see much devaluation on it after you buy it, and years to come it might even go up in price if it's a limited run!
>>
>>1032497
600 is a really good deal for that actually
