And yet all the best cartoons are American.
What is /co/ opinion on The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries?
I think I can remember the theme song. Not much else though.
Haven't seen it since I was a kid but me and my sister really liked it. We watched it seriously though, treating the mysteries with gravitas, rather than just an excuse for Looney Tune gags.
>>94426471
I loved it as a kid. I liked when Sylvester would stop being an asshole and help the others with the mystery... There were such episodes right?
Your thoughts on this show?
It was one of my cartoons ever. It brings back so much childhood memories in the 90s.
Zionist conspiracy.

Love it.

It has both quality and nostalgia factor.

there's actually quite a lot now. It's just that none of them are Japanese so you don't care. It's mostly Hispanics and East Asians.
You know what I always found really strange? With the recent push for "Diversity/Minorities" in comic, there's not necessarily focus on creating cool characters or backstories. It's really strange to me that they'd want to make something as objectively terrible as "Black Ironman" or "Race-swapped existing hero."
Once one really thinks about it, comics are a medium where costumes, secret-identities, transformations and disguises are common. Wouldn't one think it'd be incredibly easy to make for lack of a better word, good, minority characters to the point where it doesn't actually matter? Just, give them an actual costume. Original powers and designs that make their race a detail rather than a focus. (And without making it stupidly blatant/obnoxious, like Miles Morales being literally the "Black Spiderman.) And the idea that their civilian identity might face adversity or discrimination in-verse -The very idea of a hiding their identity in the first place is, by virtue of being a superhero they're going to face backlash. So why doesn't Marvel actually take advantage of the concepts that capecomics allow to push diversity effectively?
>>94425962
Because they don't have any writers left who would actually know how to do that. The few who used to be decent have descended in to lazy mediocrity barring a few here and there.
I mean didn't people back in the day start to get upset over the endless _____Girl and She______ variations on classic characters because before they were fleshed out it they were just there to be the token girls? How is this current crop of dumb "Legacy" heroes any better than that in their eyes?
>>94426038
The funny thing is despite them being created with that mindset- Eventually they 'did' grow out of that stock mold. Characters like Batgirl and Shehulk got their own stories and developed their own identity. Characters lazily made for diversity points won't even get that much, nor be pushed with much initial appeal beyond the shameless push for twitter/media fanfare.
It's superfluous and simplistic, and has no concept of that which makes characters good. It's like, bad fanfiction. The people that make these are supposed to be professionals, how did we reach this point?
>>94425962
The characters don't pass for 'racial' if they're not an exaggerated caricature, or if they're behind a costume silly.
Amazon has the Providence hardcovers on sale so I'm thinking of getting them before they're gone. I just wanted to make sure they're worth it before I pull the trigger. I'm already pretty much sold because I'm a huge fag for Moore and Lovecraft, but I'm wondering if it's as good as everyone says it is. How deep into mythos territory does it get? I've heard it's connected to Neonomicon but I've never read it. So, Providence thread I guess?
You should definitely read Neonomicon and The Courtyard first. I thought they were just thematically related but it becomes clear it's a prequel/kinda sequel to it in the end.
It's not my favourite Moore, but it's worth reading esp if you're a Lovecraft fan. Incidentally, I picked Crossed +100 recently and loved it.
It's an extremely deep dig into Lovecraft. This blog keeps track of the references, as an example:
https://factsprovidence.wordpress.com/
>>94425791
Neonomicon is terrible, but Providence is so good that it lifts it up a bit.
Providence is pretty much one of thew things that gets both the tone, atmosphere, and conceits of Lovecraft impeccably right.
Averything X-Men related. Discuss runs, storylines, characters, powers, waifus.
Where is the X-Franchise going?
>>94425766
the x men franchise is going nowhere, if it is true there will be a Rebirth style relaunch in 2018.
Everything until then will be a stop gag.
Something I care about is too see what they do with Emma, she should appear in the Secret Wars or Captain America issues in which Wakanda and New Tian are attacked (it will happen in the next Captain America issue according to previews, Steve declares war on both places).
She should also appear in Blue, which was delayed a week (probably for art, but perhaps they are rewriting something), and later in the Jean Grey book.
I want to see if they leave a door open to her not going full crazy ex girlfriend villain, so she can be usable again in x men teams.
I also think Xavier will return with Astonishing, and perhaps the real Wolverine will return with Legacy, but I doubt it.
I hope Astonishing is good, really liked the first issue.
I also want to see if in Generation X they mention Eye Boy was tortured in Gold and mutilated (lost 2 eyes) he is in the cover

>>94425607
Whats up with the comedy in this show anyway? It's either obnoxious overblown shit or jokes which might as well come straight out of a caricature from NY-Times.
Also, how was Nights Begin To Shine? I liked the model changes but never got to see it.
>>94425672
it was ok it was like watching an animated music video. They had a lot of musical guest stars too like cee lo green and fall out boy.
>>94425607
There's an episode I don't remember where, out of the blue, they give a sudden, very real rant about the media, just out of the blue going "And the media is all controlled by rich and powerful people with a political agenda" or some shit. I wish I could remember which one it was. One of the control freak ones I think.
So I herd u guize liek Sonic?

mammoth mogul is such a fucking hack
I've seen that page posted so many times (might have even had the issue itself, it ran as a backup story IIRC) and to this day, I still don't understand why they thought this was a good idea. Like, how can anyone look at Titan Tails and take it seriously?
Was it Penders? I suspect it was, judging by the Not Knuckles character being involved.
Reminder that they ate Mufasa's corpse.

So, am i the dumb idiot for liking the Iron Fist show?
I know critics have panned it partially because "muh white saviour" and partially because their view of the season was inherently incomplete since they're only allowed to review a selected number of episodes, but what about you guys? I often see people shitting on the show, but now that I've seen it i don't really get it. I remember some criticized the action but i thought it was fine, although i have to say the camera work kinda ruined it, more often than not it would focus on close-ups of the actors which didn't allow to properly follow their moves. There were memorable fights, like the one with the drunken man, the one against all the Hand trainees or the final one against Bakuto
And the characters were also good imo, they have their struggles, low moments and all, they develop, the plot was intriguing enough, the villains had their cool moments, so...
So yeah, let's discuss, what was wrong with it? Is it about comic accuracy? I've read comics featuring Danny before but never comics about Danny, so i can't really comment on that front. The effect they used for the iron fist was cool, i wonder how much of it was practical
>>94425176
>what was wrong with it?
First nail in the coffin is the shitty action in a kung-fu protagonist show. The Fist is only used less than once an episode, until the final episode in which it is used so outrageously overpowered compared to earlier uses it fails to be a wow and is more of an unbelievable oh-fuck-off.
Second nail is that Danny, outside of some fun surfer-sensei style moments, is a cardboard bore who either seems incapable of normal human feelings or so overwhelmed with emotions it makes his becoming of the Iron Fist even more laughable.
Third nail is dedicating so much time of the season to the extended cast.
Fourth of all, everyone is a fucking idiot. Everyone. It's as though everyone in the cast took lessons from Jessica Jones on how to be an irresponsible shithead "professional."
>>94425176
debating on whether or not to skip it before Defenders.
just didn't manage to get excited for this, trailers didn't do much for me

Yes
Is Johns a good writer? So much of his writing is so schlocky, but I feel like he's so good at character moments and interpersonal drama that he gets a pass. I'm just not sure. I just read Darkseid war, and it left...some sort of taste in my mouth.
>>94425131
He's good at things you and him are familiar with. The groundwork for all the character moments and interpersonal drama has been established by other writers. Take that away and the guy won't be able to get past the establishing scene

Has he lost that golden touch? Yes. Is he still better than most writers in cape comics? Yes. He's doing better work as an editor and architect.
He only writes good stories if you think the character doesn't have any previous good stories. Basically, he writes for casuals.
Hi.
I'm literally the only capeshit movie to date that portrays comic books from an objective violent standpoint without being overly edgy.
