Living in NY my whole life I can wholeheartedly say that 90% of the local """pie joints""" are overpriced shit. Same goes for New Jersey. The entirety of both states too not just near the city.
The pizza is definitely better than chain shit though. The Domino's and Pizza Hut around me both shut down due to no business because if you can get a good pizza for the same price as one of those doughy pieces of shit why would you ever eat at them
