I'm currently reading Trumps 'Art of the Deal' and he said that he built the Trump Tower for 190 million, and selling the apartments alone brought in 250 million, so the thing must have been paid off instantly.

So what's stopping me from doing the same?

>>
Getting the enough of the first 190 million to convince investors you're not full of shit.
>>
i suppose the art in "the art of the deal" is not
a) getting 190 venture capital to invest or
b) getting the acutal thing built

the art is: getting the ground and the building permit before someone else does. Building a skyscraper in Manhatten is, i supoose, not really a risky investment but getting into the situation to acutally do this is the hard part, i think,

as in: seeing the oppotunities before everyone else.

What if I have a pretty respectable architecture company with a good history of developing small real estate and good connections to the banks?

>>1167361
So if I manage to get good property and permit I'm set? Guess it's all about being at the right place at the right time then..

I don't suppose projects like this are repeatable outside of huge hype megacities..

Which option is the better one in terms of long term sustainability, usefulness, fees, etc?

About to graduate high school (18 year old senior) and I need advice. I live in central Florida if that helps.

Trades are better unless you can get a full scholarship somewhere and study something useful

90% of people in college don't belong there or study something that won't get them a job.

Do with that information what you will.

Forgot to add.

If I go with trade, what trade is better to learn, in terms of income, job availability, etc?

Well I did it, /biz/. I rose above it and got a job.

>Have a degree /biz/ says is shit
>Have no relevant experience
>Only apply to a handful of places
>Have no connections
>Don't even have to move

Went to a job fair last month. Talked to a guy from a top investment firm. Said i should apply to operations. Gave my shitty resume. Got an interview. Got a final-round interview. Get called today, told I was one of their top choices. Salary pay for 40 hours. Anything more and it goes to hourly 1.5. Full benefits. Full training. Large relocation fee. 4 weeks paid vacation.

Anyone else comfy as fuck with their future right now?

Can we consolidate the I'm a victim because_______ to one thread.

I'll start I'm a victim because of Chad takes all of my jobs and I'm inferior in every way, I've given up on improving myself and I want to spread my negativity to everyone so they know how bad I feel.

I'm a victim because I wanted to become rich but I don't want to do anything for it so I just became NEET and started talking about how Capitalism sucks and is unfair and that money isn't that important

So is this guy some kind of masochist or something? This is Mother Teresa levels of delusion.

No retard, it's because minimum wage results in unemployment. It only hurts the poor because they get less hours per week or less people get hired.

There should be no minimum wage.

Tax day is coming up. Have you done your taxes yet? What service did you use?

I'm running a small startup and I'm not sure how I should do my business's annual return. Last year I used TurboTax, but this year I think it'd be easier to get a professional to help me instead.
Thoughts?

>>

Depends on your revenue levels. If it's just a couple hundred thousand or less just file like you did last year.
>>
>>1167009
thanks. My revenue is $0, lol.

On a related note, does investment capital get taxed? Like, if I do a seed round and get 100k, do I need to pay taxes on that? I searched around online but for some reason I couldn't find any clear answers on this.

In an imaginary Mars colony, would a cryptocurrency a la bitcoin be feasible as an official currency?
What I'm interested in is how would taxes work. Obviously there's space for tax fraud when it's so easy to move money around so I've been thinking about a flat transaction tax. Basically you'd get rid of income, taxes and just institute a flat 0.2% tax on every transaction which goes directly to the federal treasury. Taxes for house, land, car etc would be state/county/city dependant and would be collected in a normal way. Tax return could be filed for certain things.

Could this work?

when you realize a government could easily outperform your shitty mining racks and take control of your entire crypto-currency you will turn green and shit bricks.

they let the bitcoin go for now because the market share is laughable and can be useful for field operatives just as tor.

if it grows to threaten the financial system or gets more exposure the nsa will just take permanent ownership of the block-chain and they will only process the transactions they want to (ie the ones they generate for shits and giggles).

>Apply online to 100 jobs
>A month later, you might get 2 callbacks if you're lucky
>You fuck up 1 phone interview because they ask you gay questions, but thankfully you get a face to face interview from the other phone interview.
>Spend all week preparing for and stressing out about the interview.
>Interview is at 8am. Better you make sure you get there on time because if you're even 1 minute late that's an automatic disqualifier.
>You sit in a conference room with 5 interviewers who take jabs at you, asking ridiculous questions that they know you can't answer, because they want to lower your self-worth so they can offer you less money if you get the job.
>The process for the job requires you go through 7 interviews, and the first 6 go great. But you accidentally fuck up during the 7th interview and say something stupid that disqualifies you from getting the job. Or they just don't want to hire you because they think you're not a cool/goodlooking guy to be around. Or they gave the job to some overachieving shithead. All that month's work for nothing. Go back to step 1.
>After several rounds of agonizing job-hunting and interviews, you finally manage to get a job at a shady company that likes to abuse its employees.
>They can tell you're a desperate job-seeker, so they offer you peanuts for your salary.
>You accept because you're desperate
>You start the job and all your female coworkers instantly hate you because of your looks, and now you have an entirely new battle to fight.

I am considering to start playing poker online to cover my student loans. I have prior experience, but only on an amateur level.
Does anyone have any experience with long term profit from online poker?
And how can I improve my own play, to maintain long term profit?

how good are your social skills? basically you're fucked if you didnt spend that time networking with people in the industry and if your professors havnt already refered you for jobs. seeing as how you're asking this question you misunderstood what university was about. it's about networking. if you dont graduate with a job offer or an internship you have no prospects.

What do you guys think of selling scrap metal? specifically copper?

A friend of mine told me that he'd rake in 150-700 a night sneaking into demo sites to steal copper pipes and brass.

I have a truck, a sledge hammer, and a sawzal, this would be a good way to supplement my income.

He's a liar. Scrap yards aren't going to take that because it's most likely stolen. I couldn't even scrap the copper from my old AC unit because copper is a theft problem, and I had to bring the entire AC unit there, which I already took to the dump. I bet your friend says he sells stolen guns to pawn shops without any registration or scraped off serial numbers too.
