Dont say you werent warned nigga

I'm a student in London. Since I live in London, I get a generous stipend of a little over 1 grand a month.

I want to dine at the Ritz once a fortnight. Apparently prices for Afternoon Tea start at £52 per person, which sounds okay.

I save £300 a month at the moment, so losing ~£100 of that doesn't seem like a huge deal.

The main problem is that there is an initial big cost of buying the required clothes to be allowed entrance - that would be roughly £450 if I'm cheap.

So the cost for this desire of mine would be:
>£750 the first month
>£100-150 for every following month

Do you think this is acceptable, or am I irresponsibly dooming my future?

it is and no one is questioning that, there is no debate to be had

a better question is: How do we profit when it collapses?
or do you believe those incompetent eurocrats along with 28 eu retards will figure out how to fix something which profits some countries at the expense of the rest without a civil war vis-a-vis united states in the 19th century?

With my 54k a year job, if I account for all my fixed expenses (rent, student loans, bills, etc - but not food or any personal expenses, entertainment, etc) I find that I will be able to save a little over a thousand a month.

I was sort of expecting to have more than $12,000 net a year if I starve myself. I was kind of hoping to go real lean for a couple years to have a down payment on a house, but this basically triples the length of time it will take to do that.

What am I doing wrong here? Besides being a wage slave, obviously.

Does it bother or disturb anyone else to realize that a single idea for a good online, possible business can make you enough money to move out and live wherever you'd like and not have to go to university or work for someone else, essentially being free? I KNOW that this is the wish of most of who browse this board.

I've been thinking about this in a business sense for a year. I can't think of a single fucking thing.

I day traded crypto and made money, but it's not sustainable and I was just lucky.

I tried to start a company with like 100 anons, weeded it down to about 20 of us, and it just didn't work out because we had no payroll and people were fighting for the management positions and having dick measuring contests about who is useful and who isn't, and who deserves management positions, shares in our then not-even-fucking-existent company. It was interesting just to try it out and see what would happen and I feel like I gained some sort of knowledge from the experience.

I've read some books on frugality, accounting etc, but it doesn't mean anything when you don't have a sustainable income.

I live in butt-fuck, nowhere USA. There are no jobs. I literally live in farm country without a farm. My only option is the internet. I'd gladly start a company with people here, but none of us can trust each other. It's not even a legal company without setting it up as an LLC, so nobody will actually listen to anyone anyway. I don't know.

Anons, I just don't know what the fuck to do. There has to be people in the same shoes as me. We can sit together and brainstorm in a skype call if you want.

https://join.skype.com/yEjLKB3uMBfo

Lets see where this thread goes before I post anything else. This doesn't have to be solely about money, either, but it's definitely topped the list.

>it just didn't work out because we had no payroll and people were fighting for the management positions and having dick measuring contests about who is useful and who isn't, and who deserves management positions, shares in our then not-even-fucking-existent company.

Here's a few tips on the above:

1. The person who provides the capital gets a substantial stake in calling the shots. Putting up money is surest, most obvious way of proving one's usefulness.

2. Someone has to be able to figure out who's useful and who's not useful. This person should have a clear idea of what the business strategy is, what skill sets are required to realize that business strategy, and have a good feel for identifying and evaluating people with those skill sets. This person should get a stake in calling the shots and this person may not necessarily be the idea guy.

3. Everybody else should be doing work, not management. Those who fight for management roles when there is nothing in existence yet should immediately be fired. Starting a business is hard work and in its initial stages there cannot be a bunch of bozos playing a game of "Animal Farm."

I'm assuming the business was some sort of software program. In this case, Person #2 should create a project plan/schedule for the software program. Everybody in group #3 is assigned some sort of task from the plan and is expected to be able to complete it within the estimated time. Those that complete their tasks are useful and can be given greater responsibilities and ownership stakes in the company. Those that do not complete their tasks satisfactorily are out.

Should I start a Roth IRA?
If so, what bank?
Can anyone calculate what $5000 initially with $4000 a year would be?

I like how I can take money out tax free if I fall on hard times, and a 401k is kinda pointless because the government doesn't take much from me.

Thoughts?

Should I go for something else?
>>
>>1211803

You don't need to bump a thread after 10 minutes. This board isn't super fast.

A Roth IRA is basically just a tax shelter for lower/middle class people.

Say, if you invested the 5k into something and made 100 dollars, normally you would have to pay taxes on that 100 dollars. With a Roth IRA, you don't have to.

If that's the kind of thing you're interested in, then sure.
>>
>>1211829
Someone was trying to explain it to me, they said I can put my money in a Roth IRA, $5,500 a year, and a mutual fumd that invests in stocks will use it, getting me am average of 7% return per year. I can withdrawl from it at any time without fees, but I can't touch the money I made with it or I get a huge fee.

Am I wrong on any counts? Could I end up losing everything?

What completely legal /biz/iness did you hesitate/didn't start because of ethical concerns?

I live in a run down third world Asian country and I know that if I start a US style walk-in small loan business it would make millions. The way that they operate is by landing money at 2% daily compounded interest. It accumulates almost exponentially and eventually the person becomes a debt slave(unless they pay on time). I cant start it because I am certain that many people will commit suicide over that and its almost scam-tier.

Another thing that doesn't exist here are instant lottery tickets. Again, people will get completely addicted very fast and it will ruin many peoples life's.

What did you pass on because you have some ethics?

Well, people actually first see the 2% figure and think that its a fair deal. Literally millions of people fell for that. To not be able find a friend who can land you 100 usd already puts you into sburgers category. here is a great expose by current year man himself John Oliver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDylgzybWAw

They are called payday loans and they have more points where you can get one in the US then the US has mcdonals and starbucks combined.

I'm going to preface this thread by saying I know nothing about investing and have limited knowledge when it comes to eSports.

Recently I've been getting into eSports, mostly League of Legends. I've seen enough to know that it's an addicting game, it's been around and growing for half a decade, and it has a dedicated fanbase. More importantly there seems to be a growing infrastructure not only around League, but around esports in general like CS:GO and Hearthstone. Streamers on Twitch get tens of thousands of views every night and shill different products for hours on end.

I guess I have two questions: 1. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to invest in esports like League? and 2. What would the best way to go about investing/getting involved for the average person who can't just go buy a team?

>>
For those interested in a potential esports success story, this kid started an esports franchise, got venture capitalists and angel investors involved, dropped out of Northwestern and is now CEO of one of the biggest success stories in League history. His team killed it this year.

http://dailynorthwestern.com/2015/10/14/ae/student-drops-out-to-become-ceo-of-esports-franchise/
>>
A dying fad imo but that's just like, my opinion man. I used to be real big into esports but now don't even give a fuck, same with my friends.

Sure certain marquee events like Evo and The International will continue to grow to crazy levels, but I don't think there's much of a market for new players in the scene.

Hey, so I am wanting to start up my own business.

Does anyone know a thing I can create and sell cheaply?

I don't wanna do that random internet stock trading, or selling someone else's work, I want passion in my work too.

I don't have alot of money, so I'd need something cheap, and space wise too.
I live in a small apartment, so I can't have a full on warehouse.

Anyone day trade? Every time it gets brought up, someone comes along and says not to do it, but I've been trading for 3 weeks now and I find it pretty fun. Watching your stock tick up while you're at work makes work much more tolerable.

I figure I'll keep at it for another month or so, and if I'm regularly in the positive, I'll look into a margin account. And if that goes well, I'll look into borrowing some more money to trade with. I want to make sure the gains I've made so far weren't just a fluke.

good thing i still have a day job
>>
You got a look at it like a job and create rules for yourself.

For instance, you should define how much money you want to make a year.

For instance if you want to make 50k a year in gains, then you should try and realize a return of ~$200 dollars per trading session. This means taking 5-10% on your trades.

You also have to use stop losses and scratch trades that don't go anywhere quick, so you can allocate your capital elsewhere.

I've been doing this so far while at work (I have a ThomsonOne terminal) and I've been pretty successful so far. I just need more capital in my account to day trade full time comfortably.

Let's talk passive income /biz/
I currently have a few easy online methods, I'll break them down for you
Computer: eBesucher-roughly 5 cents a day, I run a surfbar tab that automatically looks through sites. Do it in a browser you don't normally use, minimise it, and forget!
Inbox Dollars-this site does not have a great rep, but if you set them as your default search engine you can make roughly 10 cents a week in addition to your 2 cents per email
Phone: Mobile Performance Meter-10 cents a day in some cities, 20 cents in others. You also get a monthly quick survery about your cell plan that pays a dollar. This is an app that just sends your data, entirely passive!
Nielsen Mobile Rewards-$1.09 a week, but takes a few weeks to start paying. Same idea as above, can run with performance meter
Slidejoy-well known lockscreen app, shows me an ad when I open my phone, I get roughly 5$ a month from it
Adme-same idea as above, I make 4$ a month. The two work flawlessly together.

This all adds up to $4.30 a week for me without really lifting a finger! I'm thinking of using this to either pay for hosting to start a website for passive ad income, or to buy candy vending machines around my town.
Am I missing any good online methods? Do you guys have passive income streams? I'd love advice and can provide ref links if you please :)
