>debt FUD
Not buying it. American economy is weak, we need debt to drive growth. We should be spending assloads more on infrastructure and development instead of fucking around with weapons manufacturers and the TSA and shit.
>>1226733
inflating the currency only works as a temporary crutch. Eventually it will blow up and it will be quite the devastation.
Its like cleaning a car, you can clean it every year and get rid of the garbage, or you can let it build up over time until its falling out the windows and everything comes to a halt until its entirely cleaned out. We are at that point right now.
>>1226801
We only start running into problems if lenders decide we're no longer good for our money.
Think about the US like a business; growth companies routinely have debt caps that are several multiples larger than their balance sheet, and even blue chips are often sitting on significant levels of debt if they're going through redevelopment or structural reorganization. The US is no different; with that in mind, why are we concerned with the specific number of the debt? As long as our debt is reasonably supported by our basis financials, we should be able to keep our debt levels reasonable by either lowering the absolute value of the debt, or supporting and incentivizing raising the GDP, to lower our relative debt level.
Considering the biggest fuel of sustainable growth in the past 80 years has heavily involved government funded infrastructure projects, that's what I suggest we do to again fuel growth in our economy.
>A federal lawsuit claims Starbucks regularly overfills its cold drinks with ice instead of using the advertised amount of coffee or other liquid in its plastic cups.
>The lawsuit was filed last week in Chicago on behalf of Stacy Pincus, a local woman who accuses Starbucks of misleading consumers. The lawsuit alleges that an iced beverage advertised at 24 ounces contains about 14 ounces of fluid, and that ice isn't a fluid or beverage.
>"A Starbucks customer who orders and pays for a cold drink receives much less than advertised — often nearly half as many fluid ounces," the lawsuit states, adding that the practice is "by design and corporate practice and procedure."

Holy shit fatty really wants her 24 oz of cream-fat-mocha-whipped Americano.
Or rather, she really wants a reason to sue someone rich, and figured Starbuck's is as good a target as any. If we're lucky, she's not paying the law firm on contingency, and gets royally fucked by the legal bills when Starbucks absolutely rapes her financially by dragging out proceedings for 10 years.

Is this a scam /biz/? If not, what is the catch? Minimum wage is 7.25 here, what am i missing? Should I apply to it, or is it probably wageslave job
Prolly not a scam. Yes its wage slave. The catch is they deliver bread at 0dark30
>>1226591
The scam is that nobody fucking orders Panera for delivery, so you're not going to earn $12/hr all day; you'll earn $8/hr while you help out in store waiting for deliveries, and you'll earn $12/hr (minus the wear & tear on your car, and time-value of having to get your mileage reimbursed) for like 1-2 hours a shift, because again, nobody fucking orders panera for delivery unless it's a corporate event.

Why the fuck would any quantitatively inclined person do engineering instead of mathematical finance/accounting?
It's the same math but you make more. Engineers are being outsourced at record highs. You are basically a slave to some MBA that makes thrice what you do.
If you do finance/accounting, kill it, get into a decent position, then ace the GMAT and get an MBA you will make more than any engineer. And your work might even pay for the masters, deloitte does.
In engineering you make like 150k max... and that's for the top spots and google. That is the glass ceiling. That's a first year salary for someone in quantitative finance or corporate law.
Why are dorks so drawn to engineering? It is actually a terrible career unless you go into management, at which point you aren't an engineer anymore. If you're fine with being solidly upper middle class and never running the show, then fine, but if you aspire to do more, you will never do it with engineering. Our society rewards managers/administration than the people who design/build things. You either stay in that bottom rung or join them and boss around the other STEM nerds for 3 times their pay.
literally the best path if you are quantitatively inclined
>accounting major -> high gpa -> big 4 job -> 3 years of work -> kill GMAT -> get into good MBA program -> make 150k starting as a 'senior consultant'
this has infinitely more potential than being an engineer
I almost feel bad telling stemcucks this, I don't want to raise my competition
>>1225517
Meanwhile I make 150k as a software engineer straight out of my bachelor's.
>>1225517
Meanwhile I make 200k out of undergrad with an art history degree from an ivy league cause I'm not a sperg
I need 10 million
>>1224048

That should be enough to invest some every month and still live good.
>>1224048
500k initial with a monthly return of about 5k

200k a year.
Will invest and spend 80-100k a year until i am a $1 million dollar chump

OK /biz/ here's my idea. Tell me what you think.
>Open car dealership near ghetto
>Sell expensive bling-type cars that all the bruthas love
>No credit check but a high downpayment and high monthly payments
>Typical customer will pay for a couple of months then stop
>Unknown to them, the cars are fitted with gps. We know their whereabouts at all times
>Reposess car
>Clean it up. Rinse and repeat
It would be like selling the same car over and over again!
I think you're fucking retarded.

This works good only for products that you can't damage like jewelry. Cars, not so much.

Probably never. They only have plans on an Australian beta ( https://robinhood.com/au/).

If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.
> Is this the right place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
No, please go to Stocktwits, Plebbit, or one of our many chat groups.
> What's a good penny stock to invest in?
Don't buy penny stocks you cum guzzling mouth breathing retard.
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using Yahoo/Google finance or even Stocktwits for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

Has /biz/ ever heard of Weedman USA? Apparently it is some lawn service. Well anyways they were hiring for someone that can sell their service m-f 4-8pm and saturday 10-2. It said 10-18 dollars an hour plus comission, does that mean just 10 dollars an hour most likely? When they put "10-18" does that mean up to 18? Also they already emailed me and asked if i wanna do an interview, what do you guys think?
>>1227030
Weed man ayy lmao
I'm guessing it means if you have zero experience, they'll give you $10 and if you have some they'll give you $18
>>1227030
Basically what you'll be doing is door to door sales, I personally don't recommend it unless you are horribly strapped for cash or looking for a job for one reason or another. Sure you might make $10 an hour but that's only if you do get people to buy into your services. I had a friend do it for a month and he said it was quite bad mainly because it's very inconsistent and better to find a more reliable job.

Give it to me real, whats the actual truth behind them? Surely if it was just analyzing the companies financial data anyone could do it and become rich, why dont mathematicians and their colleagues just build a portfolio of companies whos ratios are above X level and so on? There has to be something else to it, any average joe could look at a companies balance sheet and divide two numbers and say theyre in good financial standing.
What is the deterministic element that makes investors successful, luck? I WANT TO FUCKING KNOW THERE HAS TO BE MORE THAN JUST THE NUMBERS
>>1224285
Not really. It's all numbers. Everyone just weights them differently
>>1224285
The truth behind stocks is to figure out the business and industry entirely, by paying attention to the details.
The problem is that people think that you can crunch numbers to add value to your portfolio when millions of other people are doing the exact same thing.
>>1224285
Bro I'm fucking loving math because it doesn't involve cunts (working customer service) and it's interesting. I hope to make some profit from quantitative work. The field interests me.
Rate my idea.
In Britain if you've got a Hydro-electric scheme of 2MW, you can sell the electricity at about 10pence per Kwh including subsidies. So that's something in the ballpark of £1million per year. So what's the expenditures here to set this up, quite large sure, but not ridiculous; hundreds of thousands probably.
Buy some cheap otherwise marginal useless land on a hillside somewhere, as long as it's got a reasonable stream ( by pure speculation only a few cubic metres of water/ second ).
Gain planning permission ( surely not that hard, I mean hydro's not so intrusive as wind turbines ) for your operation. Some minor earthworks, bit of concrete here, bit of concrete there, some PVC pipes here, some PVC pipes there. Most of the expenditure would be on getting a turbine, which may be stupidly expensive, and on power transmission equipment. And no doubt on liaising with the national grid to feed it. But after it's set up this is just gonna run it's self more or less.
I mean it's nothing incredible that you couldn't do with a digger, some concrete and an electrical engineer.
So rate and subscribe.
I thought britbongs were real big on keeping the "beauty" of their countryside?
it sounds doable but it also sounds like you think it will be a piece of cake. You will have to hire engineers, go through paperwork, deal with environmentalist shit. Definitely not easy.
>>1222472
Yeah well I'm keen on protecting the beauty of my countryside, so I don't like 200m tall turbines on every hill. But if they get planning permission, then a little bit of concrete in a ditch should be much easier plus it's SUPER DUPER GREEN ECO FRIENDLY POLAR BEAR LOVING ENERGY. But yeah I know what you're saying, I'm just talking shit p much, why would you have to hire engineers though? Other than electrical engineers, a bit of concrete to keep the water back, some tubes to put it in the turbines, bish bash bosh, jobs good.
Environmentalism and whatnot would be real though.
