I had to put my dog to sleep last night /an/. What do you do after you bury your best friend?

Realize a dog can never be your friend because it doesn't have the mental capacity for it.

Are you retarded? Dogs aren't smart enough to have meaningful relationships, but the amount of affection they show towards humans is more than enough to constitute a friendship. Please put your fedora away, this is /an/.

So much this
You at least need a huge ass garden or a park to be able to drain a kangal's energy. Also if you are getting only one, oooh boy you better start lifting. They are strong as fuck and you need to play with them A LOT, thats why most people get 2 of them so they can play with each other.
Also they are great ponies for kids, they can ride them without the worry of becoming a brony in the future

can anyone help?
My very fluffy lionhead rabbit was spayed two weeks ago.

After the surgery she was not willing to eat much, so we fed her critical care to avoid any GI issues. We would see things would go worse in terms of eating, more GI stasis signs appearing - we took action by doing regular GI stasis treatment stuff. Not long ago she was getting better. From yesterday the amount of poops lessened again. She only poops like once or twice and mostly in the evening. In the afternoon, she sometimes tries to poop but nothing comes out.

We give her subq fluids for rehydration, mineral oil/cat paste to get the hair out (her poop is kind of connected with hair, only not too much. the poops are very varied in terms of shape).

We force feed critical care, pineapple juice, mashed pumpkin. She still does not want to eat normally, it's been two weeks. She sometimes chews on basil (she loves it), eats a little bit of hay, especially when she wants to poop, also eats a bit of compressed food. But without our force feeding, she'd starve.

She does not show any signs of pain and acts pretty curious. Jumps and walks around when we let her out, not too actively, but not passively either. We give her metoclopramide to help her with gut motility but I don't think it really always works? Doesn't seem like there's gas buildup, we've given her symethicone. The belly is soft before force feeding.
>>
>>2122134
After she gets her critical care etc, it fills up a bit but the rabbit isn't in pain when you press her belly or massage it. At the very end (nearer the anus) it's very emptyish after eating.
We've taken her to the vet several times, the vet advises the same treatment as we're doing already, doesn't feel up anything like an obstruction or something weird. I live in a small country that has two rabbit vets in my city (it's the capital city!).
If anything, there isn't as much they could do as somewhere like the US. Have you had any weird illnesses after spaying your rabbits?
Also did any rabbit experience scar tissue in guts/stomach after surgery? What could it be?
I need help because I don't know what to do anymore, really. The vet can't do much either. She's been with these GI stasis symptoms for two weeks and with the treatment it does not stop.

Kitty couch time.

My mom has a retarded kitten too. Well, he's a cat how. A feral cat that got pregnant as a kitten is super possessive of him and always grooms him and sleeps with him and takes care of him. Her other cats tend to pick on him for obvious reasons, and ever since she got close to him she's protected him from the other cats and no one bothers him anymore. Even though he's years old and my mom still has two of the kittens from her litter, she looks after him like he's a baby. It's the cutest thing

X cat.jpg
3MB, 1768x2828px
So over two months ago my roommate X got a 6ish month old cat and everytime I look at her (the cat), she runs away. X keeps the cat inside her room all day even when not home and the few times she does leave her outside, she apparently won't explore even when I'm not home. When the cat is outside her upstairs room meowing to go in (as her owner's out), I've brought the cat downstairs, gave her water, and pet her to show I'm not a threat but she still shies away from me if I haven't picked her up or otherwise cornered her. Roommate Z has dogs that Xcat hates and the few times they're both out and about they like chasing her under my bed, so is that why her cat acts like that?

I live in the living room and when my other roommate Y had her cat around (she's moving out so she put him in her parent's place) she let him out all day and he'd always chill in my room when she wasn't home because it has water, more light, and I'd play with him or pet him. He came as a kitten so I can understand that he got more used to me.

Basically I'm asking if X's cat being weird or if that's typical of cats? X would go to Y's room even though they hate each other to feed Y's cat even after she got caught/lied about it before she got her cat (probably why she got her own). She's certified crazy so I'm wondering if it's a bad thing the cat doesn't leave her room? Like are there adverse effects of not exploring, socializing, or etc for cats? Could she be abusing her cat?

She hasn't told the apartment management and the idiot cat pokes her head out the front facing window of X's room and I don't want to be held accountable for it, especially if it becomes some anti-social monster.

Am I just being autistic?

There is a branch of the LongNow Foundation called Revive&Restore dedicated to reviving extinct species and genetically restore ones that are close to. One of their ongoing projects is the passenger pigeon to revive and the black-footed ferrets to restore.

That being said, what human-caused extinct species would you like to see again?

I would like to see the Caribbean Monk Seal. I live in it's range and I would think it could be really fun to see them on the beaches and docks lying around.

Realistically? Probably either passenger pigeon, dodo, or the Moa
>Passenger pigeons
They should do fine nowadays now that people won't be hunting them just for fun. Current day Americans have learned their lesson and should be capable of restraining themselves enough to keep the animal alive. The buffalo is still alive after all
>Dodo
In the wild? Hell no. They would be killed off in another decade at the most. I feel like they would make good livestock tho. Big, fat, and flightless. Like a chicken that won't fly away if not obese
>Moa
Now that we don't have retarded natives all over NZ they should do fine there. Really, most recently extinct animals went extinct because of carefree colonials and retarded natives. Two ideologies that are mostly gone (Africa and Asia are still chock full of retarded natives).Moa might even do fine in SA.

If you're talking about any extinct animal is want brought back I'd say megatherium in a heartbeat

I've always loved these dogs and really want one of these puppers, and I'm totally fine with a mix. A few questions

what are your experiences with these dogs?

are they typically on lists of banned breeds?

and are they common enough in rescues to realistically get one? I love them but wouldn't get one if I couldn't adopt

I would personally go for a large mutt that you couldn't count the possible breeds on less than two hands.

I volunteer at the local shelter and every cane corso I get, be it mix or full, has incredibly nasty ectropion, the dragging of the skin on the eyes.

There is always a reason the dog would be in the shelter and for purebreeds like canes it's most always because some twat fucked up his high tech backyard breeding operation.

Best dog I ever had was the largest boy I could find and he was 3 pounds for every dollar. (adoptable canes will assuredly cost more than the 50$ I spent btw)
>>
>>2128478
Well if I couldn't find a CC I would go for a cute large mastiff or bully breed mutt, all my past dogs have been shelter mutts and usually bully breed mixes. but I've just loved them for while so was thinking about adopting one once I move into a new place.

I think the biggest thing I would be concerned about is if they can be realistically trained to live with a cat as well

And he is very cute!

It's the "perspective". Just like softcore porn where the girl is entirely nude, but is in side view covering her tits n' shit so you don't see anything, but you still know she wants the D kinda perspective.

I don't know really.

We went for a hike on the same area we have hiked 3 or 4 times but this time at a different entrance and my dog kept insisting we went up into the bush where we used to cut across to my parents house despite having not been there for 4 months and not arriving from there like we normally did. I find that uncanny.

>How could anyone genuinely love an animal that eats its own poop?

When animals have to digest their food twice they have to get it out either by the back end or by the front end and redigest it a second time.

It's called being a ruminant.

One would love them the same way one would love a cow or a sheep or a goat or a giraffe or a moose or a yak or reindeer or elks or deers or guinea pigs or rabbits.

Hey /an/... What's some good food I can give my cat to bulk up a little? He's got a big frame, but he's quite thin. I'm hesitant to give him actual meat or liver or anything like that as he has sort of a sensitive stomach.

How much did your vet say he needs to gain?
>>
>>2127941
They didn't. He has a clean bill of health, but it just stresses me a little and I'd like to see him put on a few pounds.
>>
>>2128276
Unless your vet thinks he's too thin, he's likely a healthy weight and you should keep him as such. On a healthy cat you should be able to easily feel his ribs, and maybe even see them if he's breathing heavily or stretching. You should be able to slightly feel his hip bones and the seam on his shoulder blades. I would estimate that 95% of pet cats are overweight, so don't judge based on how other cats look
