Toads normally live a long time, you killed it with improper care.

Capybaras are very cute, there's no denying that, but they're pretty dumb animals and would make a lousy pet, I feel.
This little guy, his two brothers and their mother all need to be fixed. Now. Please tell me where in Connecticut (or Rhode Island, Massachusetts or New York) we can have this done for free (or for very cheaply).
These kittens were born January 24th; they were their mother's second litter.
Money is a major issue, as the owner(s) are poor (as am I). Isn't there a way to have this done for free? Do you think we'd be able to bring the cats to a place that fixes "strays" and just be like:
>"This pregnant cat showed up on our doorstep and gave birth; can you fix these 'feral' cats for free, then let us take them home for free?"
>mfw this is a free service provided to strays brought in by random people, but if you "own" your cat, you've got to pay
>mfw it's up to me to schedule appointments for other peoples' cats because they just can't seem to do it for themselves
Alright, now I'll go back to running down this long lists of phone numbers to clinics in this area, calling each (but everybody's asking for like $90 per cat wtf).
>mfw *my* cat is *already* spayed
>>2124329
>post thread asking if kitten should be fixed
>everyone on /an/ says yes for the cat's own good
>everyone on /an/ says anyone who doesn't fix their kittens is an irresponsible monster
>okay.jpeg
>ask /an/ where to fix cat for free because poorfag
>silence
Seriously, NOTHING? NOBODY here in the CT/RI/MA/NYC area has any advice? Nobody here wants to take all of sixty seconds to share information which will literally save lots of anguish to not just these cats and their owners, but to any others reading this thread?
You understand why I'm bumping this. Best price I've found now is "$36" (but that's the base, and doesn't include any of the extra costs & charges etc). $100 is the absolute maximum budget we've got here to fix four cats. Where can we get this done for free?
Alright, I guess I'll just drop off all four cats at a shelter then, where they'll no doubt be euthanized due to there already being so many cats there.
Better to kill them than have them suffer going into heat.
You guys are the best.

If you have proof of public assistance, then I think the ASPCA can help you out for like nothing.
A lot of places will do it for cheap. Check out vet schools and stuff. They may only have one day a month that they'll do it too.
They'll vaccinate them, throw some flea killer on them if they see it, and clip their ears if you ask.

If sharks have wombs does that make them mammals?
Does anyone here have experience keeping a cat in a studio apartment? Specifically one that is used to a nice big house.
I'm considering moving into one, but am hesitant to how the cat will take to it. She's become accustomed to a nice big house with a couple flights of stairs and room to stretch out. I'm concerned that the sudden shrinkage will cause some distress.
Any tips/stories? Pic maybe related.
When me and my wife got our first apartment together. She brought her 11 year old cat, Fluffy from her parents.
Fluffy went from a 3 floor house to a shitty 3 and a half apartment. At first he was a bit weird about the situation due to living with a new person and in a new place. After a couple of weeks he seemed happier at the apartment.
I think it is cause he never felt lonely due to us being on the same floor all the time as him.
We now own our first house. Which is a 2 floor average starter home. Fluffy is now 14 years old. And since he got so used to always being close to us. He chooses to be on the same floor as us no matter what

3 and a half apartment means 1 bed room apartment in my city.
Only tip I can give is play with the cat as much as you can so she stays
Active.
Who /allergictocats/ here?
How doea Zyrtec work for you? I went to petsmart today and petted a few cats and got sniffly. Cleared up pretty quickly but without zyrtec I end up sneezing all day
My wife and I really want a scottish fold.
Ive lived with cats all my life and just found out I'm probably allergic to them. I hope you can get one someday op.
As far as pills go, I like zyrtec the most. I use it everyday with a nasal inhaler for other allergies.
Do you use flonase or any sprays in addition?
>>2123897
>Do you use flonase or any sprays in addition?
No but my doctor recommended it. I was thinking of picking some up soon
>>2123898
It helps a lot. If flonase doesn't seem to help, there are more potent inhaler alternatives they can prescribe too.

Yes.

All the cats I've seen play fetch do so on their own terms instead of how dogs are taught to. My mom has a cat that plays fetch, and he taught himself how to do it
I'm thinking about getting a pet Fennec. Someone talk me out of it.
>getting a rowdy, destructive, disobedient wild animal as a pet just because it's cute
Just get a tiny puppy.
They screech.

I'm so over dogs, I've had 3 for the past 5 years. Maybe I'll just get a shitty tabby. Cats are always cute.
Which breed cat is this? Anyone? He has very chubby cheeks.
>>2121721
That is the Chubby Cheeked Lawn Chair cat
>chubby cheeks
This is the mark of a male cat that either hasn't been neutered or wasn't until he was well into adulthood. Intact males develop hella jowls.
Looks like a standard American tabby to me.
My sister recently bought a tri head corgi for $900 USD. Do you think spending this much on a dog is ridiculous and how much did you buy your dog for?
>>2119437
A good breeder will generally price puppers for a good amount.
>>2119437
If she plans to breed it matters but if she doesnt it dont
unless that means the dog has three heads she's dumb as shit, dogs don't cost that much.
Anyone else here obsessed with bettas?
I used to be. I used to breed really awesome Mustard Gas HM bettas. Purple with yellow fins and either blue or black outlining of the fins. Holy shit they were gorgeous.
However, the health of bettas continues to decrease the fancier they get. I switched to plakats for a while since they're a lot hardier, but the health standards on them are going to shit too.
I have been looking for a pink betta for years.
If I raise a kitten with lots of loving and playing and cuddles, can I make it be really friendly and loving (unlike most felines) when it's grown up? Almost like a dog
>>2117613
No. Actually, you want to do the exact opposite. Don't engage the cat at all. Pet it when it comes to you for petting, only after it touches you first. Never pick it up when not necessary, never make it feel like it can't easily escape a situation (don't hold it, let it rest on you. there's a difference)
... cats want everything on their terms so they can feel secure. unlike dogs, cats do not desire to please you. they live for themselves. it is up to you to be a part of their life, not the other way around.
After a few years of that, you'll have the clingiest fucking cat in the world because they learned that, without a doubt, you are not going to interfere with their life and it's safe to come to you for some scratching and company, and they know they'll be free to leave whenever.
Antisocial dogs and social cats are outlyers. Dogs because of long term domestication encouraging friendly traits, and cats because they're simply independent by nature. Some cats are just super friendly with no interference or trust-building period. It happens. Maybe you'll get lucky.
>>2117613
No. All cats are predestined to be assholes.
Depends on your breed somewhat. Some breeds of cats bond with their owner much more, but it also means they'll be bigger assholes to strangers (siamese or bengals for instance). Others are just more affectionate all around like maine coons and especially ragdolls.
Of course these are just tendencies. My friend has two domestic shorthairs who are from the same litter and were raised the same way. One of them is the most affectionate cat I've ever seen, he's a purring machine who will even cuddle up to complete strangers; the other is rather shy though he isn't mean either.
So long story short my junkie sister gave away our (really my) cat to her friend before she tried to run away across the country.
Problem is we never got the cat registered or anything because it's just a small indoor cat.
Would there be any way to legally get it back if my sister's friend keeps refusing to return it, or am I fucked out of my companion for the past 5 years?
Pic related, though old.
>>2116286
Can you steal it back?
>>2116295
idk, it might be possible but a huge pain in the ass, and the bitch is the kind to call the cops on people but then complain if you do the same to her for worse shit
If you havent registered the cat and your sister's friend hasnt registered the cat, then just steal it back. If she calls the cops, its her word against yours. If she has registered the cat, then you dun fukd up and shouldve had the cat in your name. Nothing you can do legally that I can think of

>I use my hands to write novels.
>ants have hands
>ants must write novels
the argument from analogy doesn't work.
>>2112400
it's more like
>I use my eyes to see
>ants have eyes
>ants must see
>>2112401
no, if you read the stuff OP posted it clearly admits we don't actually know what parts of the brain are responsible for consciousness, and the ants having parts similar to ours is by no means good evidence they're conscious.
the better evidence for insect consciousness is behavioral. Anatomical analogy is meaningless without something else to confirm it.
Show me your best moth
CanĀ“t wait until mine start to hatch after their dormancy, should be soon
