Hey guys. Just got a tv. It has component inputs and composite, but no s video. If I get a dvd recorder with s video in, can I pass s video through that and plug into the tv through comp out on the dvd recorder? Reading this I know it sounds stupid, but I thought it would be worth a shot.
>>3843445
It would work but it would be absolutely shit, you're better off getting a dedicated converter.
>>3843449
From s video to component? I wasn't aware that even existed
>>3843445
Do yourself a big favor and get a SCART RGB to YUV component converter. ~$50 on amazon. Leave s-video behind.
Is it actually possible to beat stage 5-9 in marble cooking?
I have no idea.
>>3840615
Maybe if you wait long enough, the enemies get tired of running around so much and slow down.
I tried covering the entire screen with carrots to lag the game, but no luck.
I followed around the dude on the bottom left, and it seems that your character is the exact same speed as the ninjas, so theoretically it should be possible. But no matter what I try, I can't get past the dudes on the top right.
>>3841228
The thing that really gets me though, is that I'm able to take one step and barely start moving to the right.
If I'm already moving to the right and the guy behind still hits me, doesn't that imply the guy behind is faster than me?
How long will NES controllers last? Will they eventually all break down with buttons that don't register properly any longer?
Aren't those old Nintendo things made out of Nintendium? They'll prolly outlive us all.
>>3846326
These controllers become faulty after a while
>>3846308
The buttons can get sticky
How does this board feel about indies remaking retro games?
pic semi related.
>>3846257
pic not related at all
Cave Story IS retro now that there's a MD port but I'm not sure what it would be considered a remake of or what other IPs would be so worthless indie devs could get away with stealing?
>>3846263
Is an interesting question.
someone could remake top 25 atari 2600 games and put it on steam you know.
Are there any good remakes of retro games on iOS? Pic related?
>inb4 emulate on android
Shin Megami Tensei is only available in English on iOS, and the Dragon Quest ports aren't awful. I beat DQ1 on my ancient iPad on a train ride and it was fun.
>>3844303
I didn't realise so many of the DQ games were on iOS. DQ1 is very cheap too so I may give that a go.
>>3844363
Yeah they really went to town. I had a good time with DQ1, it's t he only DQ I've every played actually. I understand it's a little dumbed down from the NES version, but I enjoyed it regardless; a good game to space out to while traveling, etc.
I think Santa Claus was onto something with this.
Nah, he was just poorly written like most Square antagonists.
>>3843614
This is one of many veiled depictions of westerners/americans as evil conquerors. Square's games are full of such allusions. Final Fantasy VII is a perfect example. Shinra is an evil corporate dictatorship headed by a blond-haired, blue-eyed man. They go to war with not-Japan (Wutai) and are just all around assholes to everyone. It was more obvious in retro games but japanese devs do this all the time.
>>3843614
This game was pretty fun. The only downside is that it's pretty easy and a lot of people consider it babby's first rpg.
>>3844624
I've always thought this. There's so much references to stuff in Square games but the whole "evil corporations" thing is a recurring theme. Smithy is so America, especially when you consider what's going on in his 2nd form. He turns into a tank, an iron mask that looks like a coffin, a treasure chest that spams negative status effects and a scary mage that spams weapon rains. He also shoots bullets out of his finger guns. After all, the whole villain theme is filling the world with weapons out of his otherworldly weapon's factory.
you die and go to hell. Satan makes you a deal. If you can beat Ikari warriors without cheating you can go to heaven. if you lose a deamon will rape you for eternity. If you reject the deal you will still suffer for eternity but not as bad.
Wot you do?
>>3841261
Wait why wouldn't I want to be raped for eternity?
...what?
>>3841261
First off, you mean a 1cc right off the bat? Or could I keep grinding until I eventually get it?
And what are the circumstances of the rape? Anal rape kind of depends but forced coitus would be pretty hot to be desu
Discuss.
>>3839642
Ki is cute but she should wear a helmet
>>3839642
Arino and this game are fated enemies.
>>3839642
This series freaking rules.
So I just ordered one of these off eBay for $60... I'm a huge Saturn fan, however other than the essentials such as Sonic CD and Lunar I'm not very well versed its library
I'm a big fan of shumps and I heard the Sega CD has a quality library of shumps. Is it true? What are some other hidden gems of the Sega CD library?
You can get The Space Adventure for 300USD, Snatcher for 400USD or Kaio Flying Squadron for 1000USD.
That's about it. The rest is fucking trash.
>>3832004
You clearly don't know shit if you think anyone besides eCeleb collector faggots buy SEGA CD games. CD-R's cost next to nothing and play identically to the real deal.
>>3832004
lol fuck that shit
I forgot to mention that I have CD-R's and was intending to looking for some worthwhile games to burn
Is the 32X really as terrible as people make it out to be? Unlike the Jaguar, I'd actually consider getting one if they weren't so expensive.
>>3847629
It came out at a time when Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation were right around the corner. Sega of Japan didn't want it and didn't want to support it. Sega CD already had abysmal sales, and consumers weren't interested in another failed add on.
>>3847649
I know the history behind it, I'm just kind of curious how it stands as a piece of hardware.
>>3847649
>Sega CD
>abysmal sales
stop repeating e-celeb myths, for an add on which was double the price of base system it sold 'ok'
I hear this is the best version of the segacd is that true?
I prefer the CDX honestly, but it will generally cost you a lot more.
>>3845145
The CDX is a little more compact. It looks almost like a giant portable CD player.
Makes it a pain in the ass to use a 32X, which makes it a pain in the ass to play Kolibri. Avoid.
We know that Nintendo will never make any new IPs now, but people like playing the same game over and over again right?
I know I get the most mileage out of all stars compared to my other SNES games
>>3844291
I can't stand playing most games once I've beat them once or twice.
>>3844297
I do like replaying some games, especially beat 'em ups, but speaking of Mario games… Somehow I hate replaying any of them. And don't get me wrong, I did like every Mario immensely on the first few runs. But on second, third… It's just a bother for me. It just feels like such a chore and stops being fun.
And I realized this because I love replaying Sonic for example. Heck, I've played its first level a million times, I love trying to beat my best time on it. Same with Mega Man X, I must have beaten this game over 10 times. Mighty Final Fight is my personal fixation, I think I beat it over 20 times for sure. Even with DKC, which I never even beat because I lose interest, I actually don't mind replaying the first 10-20 levels.
I think there's just something about Shiggy games I've played—SMB1–3, SMW and Yoshi's Island, Zelda—that just prevents me from replaying them. And at one point in time I was ready to say they were my favorite games of all time. I often think I should replay one of them, and then I think that they will drag on, and on, and on… And I just forget it.
There are exceptions though, I've replayed SM64 and Mario Land 3: Wario Land quite a lot of times. I don't know though how much of Shiggy games they were.
>>3844291
I liked the All Star remakes more than the NES versions.
Nintendo could definitely remake All Stars for the Switch and it would sell extremely well. I wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure the game would be just as enjoyable. Assuming they only do graphics enhancements and leave everything else alone.
I'm honestly not into modern Nintendo. Do they ever remake their old games? (Not counting Pokemon) PlayStation is remaking Crash. I bet if that works out for Sony, Nintendo and other companies will follow suit with remakes.
If I never played this game before, is it possible to beat it on a single evening (4-5 hours of playing) without using the 99 life cheat?
>>3843953
No.
Try thunder force 3.
>>3843953
Tough as nails. Try anyways.
Do your best, anon.
What do you think of Super R-Type and R-Type 3? Are those possible to beat in one evening of playing?
Which do you prefer?Which is closer to the original?
>>3843739
One on the right is closer. One on the left is too garish.
Ah yes I remember the purple sky fondly...
No, seriously wtf? The right one doesn't even look like the palette from the Playchoice PPU and definitely not from a Vs PPU.
>>3843739
I prefer the left.
I don't remember what color it was as a kid.
1. Because I played Mario 3 the most and rarely touched 1.
and 2. Because I was a kid and didn't know/care about color differences.
No headphone jack?
Name 3 (three) consoles that do this, not including the Mega Drive / Genesis.
>>3841737
Every handheld. You fail. Server you right for responding to shit bait.
>>3841679
piece of junk
