We know that Nintendo will never make any new IPs now, but people like playing the same game over and over again right?
I know I get the most mileage out of all stars compared to my other SNES games
>>
>>3844291
I can't stand playing most games once I've beat them once or twice.
>>
>>3844297
I do like replaying some games, especially beat 'em ups, but speaking of Mario games… Somehow I hate replaying any of them. And don't get me wrong, I did like every Mario immensely on the first few runs. But on second, third… It's just a bother for me. It just feels like such a chore and stops being fun.
And I realized this because I love replaying Sonic for example. Heck, I've played its first level a million times, I love trying to beat my best time on it. Same with Mega Man X, I must have beaten this game over 10 times. Mighty Final Fight is my personal fixation, I think I beat it over 20 times for sure. Even with DKC, which I never even beat because I lose interest, I actually don't mind replaying the first 10-20 levels.
I think there's just something about Shiggy games I've played—SMB1–3, SMW and Yoshi's Island, Zelda—that just prevents me from replaying them. And at one point in time I was ready to say they were my favorite games of all time. I often think I should replay one of them, and then I think that they will drag on, and on, and on… And I just forget it.
There are exceptions though, I've replayed SM64 and Mario Land 3: Wario Land quite a lot of times. I don't know though how much of Shiggy games they were.

I liked the All Star remakes more than the NES versions.

Nintendo could definitely remake All Stars for the Switch and it would sell extremely well. I wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure the game would be just as enjoyable. Assuming they only do graphics enhancements and leave everything else alone.

I'm honestly not into modern Nintendo. Do they ever remake their old games? (Not counting Pokemon) PlayStation is remaking Crash. I bet if that works out for Sony, Nintendo and other companies will follow suit with remakes.

he games I like replaying are puzzle games, roguelikes and fighters where things change up. Games like platformers, shmups, most action games I only enjoy while I'm playing them and trying to figure out how to beat it. Once that's figured out, the fun of the game is gone and I'm just left re-doing what I've already done and it's time to move onto something else.
>>
>>3844317
>puzzle games, roguelikes and fighters
But they're obviously meant to be played over and over.
>platformers, shmups, most action games
Some get better when you replay them. Beat your old score or aim for a better run. I often fire up Contra, always fun to beat it again.
>>
>>3844329
>But they're obviously meant to be played over and over.
Exactly. There's nothing wrong with replaying playing to up your old score or something like that, it's just not for me.

Splatoon and ARMS will be their last IPs? Source?
>>
>>3844502
His ass
>>
>>3844502
splatoon is only remotely popular for the lolis
>>
>>3844291
I prefer the 8 bit version
>>
>>3844308
>Same with Mega Man X, I must have beaten this game over 10 times.
My nigga. Always fun trying different stage orders and this game is a blast to play with its tight controls.
>>
>>3844651
That isn't relevant, OP said Nintendo won't make any new IPs, so that means Splatton and Arms are the last ones?
I'm out of the loop with modern gaming so I don't know.
>>
>>3846298
Man, please. He was just exaggerating and joking. He refers to Nintendo being stuck on milking their IPs 10th time over.
It's not that they make bad games now, but it feels like they've been stuck on the same IPs for well over decade now. It's literally Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros, and Pokemon 10th time over, with little to no change to the formula and barely even better than before.

It hurts Anon.

And how was I supposed to know he was exaggerating and joking? I'm not a fucking psychic.
Maybe there really was an announcement or something. Op seemed serious about it.
>>
Man, you could place any version of Mario 3 in front of me and I'd play it multiple times.
>>
>>3846871
No offense, but it's like you've been living under a rock. At least do keep track of what happens in vidya. Of course it's a retro board, but this doesn't mean it's disconnected from current year.

I'd like to see a kind of "King's Field Chronicles" using the Dark Souls engine. The entire Verdite trilogy could be condensed into one large game spanning three generations of characters.

It's unfortunate that the DS fanbase barely acknowledges the existence of KF despite how much it influenced Souls. Maybe a modernized take on KF would help bridge the gap.
>>
>>3846082
Yes, me too. For some reason on smb 1 allstars, you cant jump over the piranah plants like in the original. Its actually quite frustrating if you have muscle memory of the original!
>>
>>3846339
Pokemon isn't even 1st party. It's made by Gamefreak. Same as Kirby that is from HAL.
So your list becomes even shorter.
I guess Starfox counts, but considering how shitty Zero was, I don't know if it'll ever get another reboot. Please not another reboot.

Stop rebooting shit, Nintendo, plz.
>>
>>3847105
>Pokemon isn't even 1st party. It's made by Gamefreak. Same as Kirby that is from HAL.
Pokemon trademarks all belong to Nintendo, and it has a very big share in the whole franchise. Hence why you don't see Pokemon on non-Nintendo consoles. Same with Kirby, and HAL is so closely affiliated with Nintendo it's almost its subdivision. That's just the way Nintendo works.
>I guess Starfox counts
It's technically alive, but it's one of the many franchises Nintendo has outsourced to other companies. Along with…
—Yoshi's Island (I lost count of mediocre games in the series)
—Wario Land (Master of Disguise was a disgrace)
—Metroid (Other M, enough said)
—F-Zero (rest in piece, sweet prince)
And that's just from the top of my head.
What's more disappointing is that their flagship games, developed with Shiggy and Sakurai, have repeated the same formula for well over 10 years. It's obvious that Nintendo will as usual play it safe and give the same Zelda/Mario/Smash Bros/MK for Switch.
>>
>>3846917
Just take that ps2 Shadow Tower, that will be the most you will get.
>>
>>3844291
The all stars version is clearly the superior version. They have save files you couldn't do that on the original 3 games.
>>
>>3847146
Well yeah, but it's one of those so-called "second parties". A third-party with an exclusivity contract.
>>
>>3847146
The new Zelda game is a pretty significant shake-up for the series, though. Odyssey also looks like it will be a departure from other Mario games (but probably not gameplay-wise).

I might be going against the grain here but I honestly don't mind reboots/rehashes of good games. I think there's merit to re-examining old game design concepts with improvements or new twists added in. Also let's not pretend its a Nintendo thing to rehash games. Essentially every major game publisher does this with their major IP's, and I prefer Nintendo's brand of rehashing to EA/Ubisoft/Activision just releasing the same game every year with new rosters/guns/levels.
>>
>>3844313
>I'm honestly not into modern Nintendo. Do they ever remake their old games?
Well if you count DS era and onwards Nintendo as modern there's
64DS
OoT/MM 3D
Super Star Ultra
FE Echoes
Diddy Kong Racing DS

A Link Between Worlds also started as a LttP remake and the various ports of older games like TP and WW.

They don't happen very often but Nintendo do remake their games.
>>
>>3844297
Same. The exceptions are Dark Souls, Megaman X4, and Crash Bandicoot 1-3. They are just so replayable.

For some reason I also replay Suikoden 2 every couple years
>>
>>3844291
I can only speak for myself.
I used to play super mario 2 and 3 at my moms best friends house in the basement whenever they would hang out. 1992 maybe? I just remember being totally engrossed. I would come up stairs and my hands were all sweaty...it became a long term joke. Flash forward to about 4 years ago. I was living with a friend outside of the city limits, no internet connect so i couldnt pay WoW. Bought SMB3 and a original nintendo on a whim...played it OVEr and over again. hours every night. It just sparked my gaming nostalgia again. After finally beating it i realized what a great game it is. It was my go to game afterwards whnever i wanted a good challenge. Recently played it on all Stars on the snes. I honestly didnt like it even though i can understand that it "looks better" or "sounds better". I just have strong personal memories with the very first version of super mario bro's 3 so ill probably play that version whenever i feel like playing super mario 3. also, my hands still sweat when i get hours into that game
