Getting close to PS1 utopia. Got my PVM, got my SCART / RGB, and a wonderful library of games that I play and cherish.
But now I want to start purchasing some PAL exclusives such as Perfect Assassin and Terracon. Pls don't judge if those games suck, I'm genuinely curious to try them out. My question is that if I get a Debugging system, will PAL imports work with my PVM (Olympus Trinitron OEV143)?
Also In before Disc swap method. Im aware, but I am willing to invest in a console that plays NTSC / PAL and J games. We're talking I have 50 more years of life to enjoy these games, so I want to make it count.
fell for the pvm, rbg, and pal memes. superb
Just install a fucking chip into a normal PS1 and that'll cost you no more than 5$.
That is if you're not too retarded to install it yourself.
What are some old games you consider being underrated or having aged well, /vr/?

Pic unrelated?
This needs more love and attention.
Solar Jetman. It's Asteroids with a little more meat on its bones. Grand old time.
im specifically looking for good snes games, something good but not so main stream
新・熱血硬派くにおたちの挽歌
Super Mario rpg is the pound for pound best game in the world period!
Can we all agree that the SNES and Genesis Aladdins were both pretty flawed and the Master System got the best 2D Aladdin game?
No, we can't. I also never got that last jewel on the Carpet stage.

It's the best adaptation for sure; but it's not as fun as the others
I had the GG version. I assume it's the same thing.
It's too plain. There's no combat or interesting platforming to be fun for more than one playthrough.
I don't care for the runner sections. They play like one of those free tablet games my nephew plays. The only challenging one is the Jafar chase.
If you sit through the cutscenes, they take up almost as much time as the rest of the game.
It has the best final fight, visually at least.
It's fine for what it is. Better than the other games? I don't think so.
Why does my PS1 display the pic on the left instead of the right on start-up?
>says SCEE at the bottom
guess that means you have a PAL version or something I suppose.
playstation logo is saved on disc instead of bios, the bootlegers just swapped it for it's own thing
>>4103190
Yeah its a PAL version, but I've never seen another PS1 say "StC" or "STATIC"
What do you reckon ill get for these old relics?
>Necessary cords and controller included
100 roo dollars
bout tree fiddy
I'd sell for about 80 quid
Do Japanese controllers work in American super Nintendo's
>>4102979
Yes, they are exactly the same
>>4102981
Not that guy but is it just me or are the NTSC-J Super Famicom controllers of lower quality than the PAL or NTSC-U Super Nintendo. As English is not my main language I am not sure what it's called but in every Super Fami controller I own those pillars which hold the screws fucking break when I open the controller.
>>4102984
Oh and fuck that short cord.
What are some good games I can emulate on my phone? Preferably nes64-ps1 range
Zelda - Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Let's talk about Kojima's unsung classic which mixed Bladerunner and The Terminator drenched in some sexy sax.

What is the definitive version of this before I play it for the first time? PS1, Sega CD, Saturn, PC-88, or TurboGrafx?
>>4102909
Sega CD
Excellent English localization and no gore censorship.
>>4102909
Sega CD
why do i see japanese versions of games listed for way cheaper prices online when the american versions are practiacally always $20+
even the super famicom is cheaper than the snes. why is this?
>>4102781
Because language barrier. Not a big deal for simple puzzle games or action games. But story based games, or games that are dependent upon lots of reading, keep non jpn readers out.
I don't have a problem buying Japanese games as long as it's not an rpg or something like that as I know just enough Japanese to get through menus and understand basic instructions.
>>4102787
Also there is not so much a nostalgia market in Japan like in the states or Europe. Actually some of the craziest prices I've seen are for pal region games. In Japan retro games that would sell for tens of dollars in the west go for sub 10 dollars there.
Could the SNES have run it?
Could it have done the soundtrack?
If the sprites were 1 inch tall
After playing Rendering Ranger on SFC, yeah, I think so.
>>4102075
not without some extra chip in the cartridge, but technically you could have played it on an SNES yea
What are some other RPGs with combat similar to Super Mario RPG's?
legend of dragoon, mother 3, shadow hearts, lost odyssey, paper mario, mario and luigi rpgs
>>4101785
Why not just name the ape donkey kong? We all know what he is.
>>4101813
These
Also Charles Barkley Shut Up & Jam Gaiden. Similar gameplay and also a comedy rpg.
It's like Metal Gear... but in the palm of your hands!

Is it any good?
>>4101760
MG2 > GBC MGS > MG > MGS3 > PSX MGS > MGS2 > PW > MGS4 > MGS5
>>4101760
It was actually very good, I thought. I was surprised by it.
I have a few Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner (Sega Saturn) audio interviews that I can't find any sort of translation for. Can anyone help? I can't do much for preserving this on my own.

You might have to commission someone to do that honestly, though with a franchise as popular as the SMT franchise someone might do it out of interest. Sadly DS isn't a popular game really like the ps2 titles so I dobt it.
I hate to shill but if you would consider commissioning someone maybe try contacting this guy. He translates game interviews on this site. Though he typically does written articles, not sure on audio interviews. Sorry but that's the best I could think of.
>>4100789
Who is the person in question?
>>4100805
Oh fuck I'm sorry, I thought I put the link to the site. Seriously sorry about that.
This site is all about translating gaming articles, you would need to commission him but if anyone would do it I'm sure he would. Here's the site.

Can anyone tell me what region my SNES is?
I was sure it was a PAL version, but now I am not sure. The only two games I have for it are Street Fighter 2 (American with adaptor) and Super Mario All Stars, which looks PAL but it doesn't say so on the cartridge.
I have bought a couple PAL games for this console and if it isn't PAL then I am wondering how I could get them to work?

Here is what my copy of Mario looks like
>>4100004
Looks PAL but the asian characters confuse me
