Why did level 6-3 have this light gray color palette? It's not used by any other level in the game.
>>4104773
To look like snow.
>>4104773
It's bugged. The game was meant to have a normal palette, but ended up colorless due to a last minute mistake before the game shipped. Some ports fix this.

>$0.25 microtransaction every single time you want to play
Will the jewery never cease?
I know it's a joke but for 25 cents and you could potentially play the entire game and see all of its content. Even if you paid more to beat the game, which is more likely, you'd probably still pay less than the cost of buying the home game.
You the same guy who posted the 2D<3D thread?
git gud or git pur
Let's talk about the PC Engine
>favorite games
Hucard: Bonk 2, Liquid Kids, Soldier Blade, Air Zonk, Bomberman 93, Mr. Heli, Super Dodgeball
CD: Rondo of Blood, Ys IV, River City Ransom, Tenchi Wo Kurau, Chiki Chiki Boys, Rainbow Islands
>which model do you own or prefer
own a Coregrafx II, wanna get a Duo-R
>do you prefer HuCard or CD?
HuCard because of more platformers, but I have to play more CD stuff
>underrated and overrated games?
Liquid Kids is underrated, Devil Crush is overrated
>ranking the console with others?
Better than the MegaDrive but not as good as the SNES. I play it the most though
Schizophrenic postings?
Yes, I think it is.
Why did the original PCE/TG16 not have a little cover to go over the card slot? I know the Duo did but it just seemed like such an obvious thing.
>mfw all those redbook audiogames and just using a heaphone
I'm trying to make a rasberry pi emulating device thingy. I remember just a couple months ago I could download basically any retro nintendo game from emuparadise but now all of them have been taken down. I tried using other sites which have them but they game me .exe files which I don't trust. Does anybody know how I can get these roms now that I guess a lawsuit or something got them taken down?
torrent them
Nintendo narc GTFO we're not telling you the next rom site to slap with a C&D
>>4103910
not that guy, but, I want roms, and can't find them, but they're not retro, I already have fullsets for everything /vr/...
Never actually had issue finding roms for a system before, honestly.
And I only have romsets for archival purposes, y'know, just in case, FBI. I see you.
any tips
Learn how crafting works before you even really get started
check the archives, a thread was made recently with some useful tips
>>4103676
Read the in-game manual
Use the scan ability on every enemy as soon as you get it, you can check enemy stats by going to Status and pressing the shoulder buttons
Don't worry so much about elemental affinity outside of boss fights, weapon type matters more for standard enemies
Be prepared to draw or look up a map for the forest section
was it bad
>>4103630
Yes.
>>4103643
Fuck you, i liked it!
>>4103630
eh
Legacy of Darkness is good though
Bow down to the peek game in retro gaming history!
>>4103576
Sorry lads, wrong pic.
>>4103581
good choice, too. but it isn´t even a challenge
cant fuck with grim fandango. it was totally a right-place-right-time kind of game. it would take another couple thousand years of adventure games to nail the writing, tone, humor, and scope that grim fandango succeeds at having.
Everyone was sooo excited for Broken Age but that wasnt even close.

Big news. Some guy is selling prototypes for Marble Madness, Off The Wall, Popils and Peter Pack-Rat. All of these were finished but unreleased
Popils sold for $9800
Hopefully these get preserved?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9co_cYMJkRQ
I'd love to be able to play Popils on something other than a Game Gear.
>>4103519
Fat chance of them getting preserved. At those prices they are only going to be sold to profiteering collectors/investors/hoarders, you'll have a hard time finding a preservationst willing to spend even half that.
>>4103565
Maybe the collector will someday make the decision to find a way to properly dump the ROM...
*crosses fingers*
We do agree that Tooie is better than Kazooie right?
I know it's not popular opinion, but I certainly think so. But I'm looking through a thick pair of nostalgia goggles on this one since I haven't been able to replay it in over 10 years.
I do remember being more invested in BT than BK, but it was that special time in my life where I was satisfied dicking around in 3D platform games f or hours without actually accomplishing anything.
I eventually got everything in the game though, I had to cheat with a turbo controller to get that last canary mary race.
BK was fun too but the worlds were all a lot smaller, didn't feel like there was much to explore there.
Depends, does Tooie have sexy Grunty?
>>4101661
>sexy grunty will never peg me
Why live
Either comically bad or just shitty in general, something lack-luster and disappointing or otherwise plain bad.
I can't say who's gonna go play them, if they'll enjoy how bad it is or if they'll want that amount of time back. However, I can say it's a lot easier to appreciate a good game after playing a bad one.
Cut the usual big meme answers.
Mine is Taz-mania on Gameboy. Was really hard for me to get through but on the genesis I got through everything just fine.
Bad Dudes.
>>4101541
It's literal poopoo, but damned comfy. The music is actually catchy, too. Fuck it, this is a 10/10.
mighty max on the SNES. i suppose it's bad but last time i played it i was impressed by the gameplay
Browsing TIZ today and I realized someone uploaded the Rayman prototype for SNES. Have you already tried, /vr/?
I am still more impressed by Quik.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6GEShi_4DY
It's nice to see the old Rayman sprite in motion but there's absolutely NOTHING there that's even remotely of interest.
Hell, due to the lack of nearly everything it's barely even a prototype and more like a playable concept sketch that'd take like half a day to create.
If this was the version that's on the preview screenshots which featured the evil Electoons and Mr. Skorps then the discovery would've been A LOT more significant.
Were these games popular?
What does /vr/ think about them?
Why does his face look like that?
Also General Adventure Island thread.
>>4100252
>Why does his face look like that?
Because you're using a disgusting filter.
Adventure Island 1 was always on every multicart for Famiclone cart, it's a very popular game.
The sequels are even better, they made 4 Adventure Island games for NES alone, so I guess it was popular back then.
IMO it's a great platforming series, maybe one of the best, that got a bit forgotten over time.
I liked the nes games. Something felt off about Super AI.
Did you own any video game-related toy or action figure, or board game as a kid?
Do you still own them? Do you buy them now as an adult and collect them?
Remember to keep it retro, no modern figures based on retro games, must be stuff made in retro times.
Also I guess other kind of memorabilia or merchandising discussion is ok.
I had tons of Pacman stuff.
I was born in '81 though so that shit was all over the place.
I did have the Street Fighter GIJoes too.
I was pissed it took so long for them to make Sonic and Mario toys. When I was a kid, they only made little PVC figurines for Mario and jack fuck for Sonic.
McD's had the Mario Bros.3 and Sonic3 happy meals and that shit rocked my ass off at the time.
>>4100220
Chun Li's looking a little green, there.
>>4100220
I had Crash Bandicoot on his jet board with the blue gem but I lost it. Feels bad man.
HOLY SHIT. there was a PS1?!
>>4099046
Once a console gets replaced, it's apparently erased from the minds of the masses. At least that's what the new crash is demonstrating
