I once had a techpriest who commonly talked to the machine-spirit in his shotgun. He called it tom.
I had a cultist run up to the party with a knife. Our scum slashed at him and missed. Our psyker tried to pistol whip him and missed. Our cleric threw a punch at him, which also missed. Techpriest shot the cultist point blank with tom and splattered his guts all over the wall. He later got upgraded to a combat shotgun.
Those were good times.

hey, /tg/

I'm supposed to be DMing for my friend, his brother, his brother's girlfriend, their roommate, and some other dude every Tuesday. Their other DM flaked on them, and I'm stepping in to salvage their D&D time.

I'm kind of a weird dude, or at least I give off that vibe, so I don't know if they warmed up to me yet. I was pretty reserved when I met them all yesterday, and I ended up leaving after about three hours.

I'm worried because they're all high functioning normies, and I'm a total NEET on autismbux.

Anyways, I showed them my method of playing, which is setting a television on a table and connecting it to my laptop with HDMI and then using the roll20 program (since I don't have miniatures) and they were pretty impressed with it.

What should I do to make sure that they're down with having me as their DM next Tuesday?

I bought a chainmail coif for 20 dollars to wear while I DM, and I've been practicing my voices. I'm going to wear it for a short while and take it off once the novelty wears thin.

Is it even possible to be intimidated by a female villain? I've yet to see a single evil woman done well. It's almost always just a woman pretending to be a dude and it's laughable. Nothing about women is intimidating, no matter how much spiky armor or out-of-place muscles you put on her.

How does one make a good female villain?

I have a feeling that making a player, potentially even true-name nemesis, will be a mechanic within amonkhet.
In Egyptian mythology the god Ra had a hidden name revealed to Isis. Ra named everything and made every thing this way. In many fantasy games the name of a wizard holds power (this was the logic to true-name being blue).

I wouldn't get my hopes up for them getting into the nitty gritty of Egyptian mythology. Less Kamigawa, more Theros. They're going to have some mummies, pyramids, God look-alikes, all as a backdrop to the gatewatch fucking around.

Read through my friends alien one, gonna be honest its to simple a system, also in the zombie book he had it say your starting gear is wh as ts on you type deal....so to mess with him I came with a trench coat on....under it I had lv IV plats, a 74, 4 hand guns an IFAC, cheap night vision, about 1k total bullets... was able to give out pistols to all players when game started, had assualt rifle (they all do the same, all pistol are same in game, same with "assualt rifles") also had 20 of thoose food ration bars..... gm had not made a game for front loaded pc's. Kinda ruined his first two nights. But then we got whooped up on right quick.

Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!

Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

MEGA folder containing current version of the game and all supplementary materials.
Note that the latest version of the game is v1.9.9 but with additional supplements. It's NOT what's currently on Opaque's website, because Jimmy is Jimmy.

Nope. You said words that sound pretty but they're not really true. The shock is not meaningful since most weapon with swing slots have shock anyway. Hook is OP so no one things twice about getting a spike.

Most differences are aesthetic - like, for example, Bases and Outposts are now Champions who stay out on the field til they're killed, some having Taunt - this is completely identical to how they work in Star Realms, but in this game they make way more sense, because having a dude in front of you to protect your face is a much better established mechanic in card games.

Balancewise it seems like they rebalanced for more Champions (bases) in the deck and more ways to kill them, since it makes sense that a game trying to fuse Star Realms and Epic/Magic would need more of these guys than a direct space combat game would.

Champions also have "tapping" abilities like in Magic, though the abilities are just slightly better versions of what you'd usually expect from a Base, and tapping them instead of just taking their abilities as granted charges nothing. The a act of tapping them sideways does literally nothing but remind you they've been used this turn.

And it plays 2-4 out of the box instead of needing 2 sets to break the 2p limit.

Otherwise it's mostly identical.

I think it wins for being the most accessible. The 2-4 thing really clinches that I always bring it out of the house instead of Star Realms.
